I love this quote, minus everything after the "Mmm". I hate how he was like I will wait for you...But what if when I'm waiting...BLAH BLAH BLAH! I think if you're going to wait for someone, then you're going to wait for them. Derek is just looking to be loved though, so I mean he might just settle for whoever is willing.

This line makes me melt every time I read it. I cried when Mer/Der broke up, and that line just made everything okay.. but I hope she doesn't make him wait too long.

but isn't the point that he's moving on? sure he'll wait but if something else comes up in the meantime he's going for it...it's only fair. you can't ask someone to put their life on hold for them, but that person if willing can wait as long as they can. what happens if she's never ready? if it was never meant to be? he would have waited a lifetime when he could have been with someone who wanted to be with him (in the same way he wants to be with meredith)

This quote actually made tears come to my eyes. I sobbed my way into bed last night. I'm soooo happy that Derek is going to wait, but really, what if someone else DOES come along? What then? Meredith better make up her mind soon.

I love the Derek character. But this one trumped it all. I watched it several times on the ABC website. It makes me cry every time. Oh to be loved like that.... How rare it is in real life and you can't help longing for it..... He invites her, yet doesn't force her. He understands her hesitation because of hurts from the past. He doesn't give her an ultimatum, yet he expresses that he can't wait forever. That invites her to make up her mind. I think if he said he would wait forever without limit, it would communicate weakness, too much desperation..... Yet he is so loving and understanding. (I actually think God loves us this way). I love his eyes. They communicate such kindness. It's priceless. I love how he stood up for Lexi too by the way.

Derek Shepherd has a knack for saying the right things.He may not always do the right thing but the man has a way with words. Its bring you to tears knowing that thet're not together. The look in his eyes and his medium lifeless stance, looking at her while saying it...Priceless.a guy could get me with these lines. (p.s only Patrick Dempsey could pull off lines like this- he has the look and the tone)

I love that line! I read it soo many times and each one i almost cried! But come on how is Meredith going to say she is not ready after he said that to her! I mean seriously! I don't care if I was ready or not if someone said that to me, exspecially Mcdreamy, I would be ready in a Second!
I also don't understand in the second season she was like begging for him to love her and now that he does she just runs away!
I agree Patrick dempsey is the only one who could pull off lines like this!
