Maddie's mom: Wait. Maddie needs to tell her daddy she's sorry before he goes. Maddie, you need to tell your daddy you're sorry. Maddie, people die in surgery. You don't want your daddy to die without telling him how sorry you are. Come on, lets go tell him we love him.Meredith: You know, no. No!
Maddie's mom: What?
Meredith: Maddie, stay right here ok.
Richard: Dr. Grey.
Meredith: No. She will not go apologize to him. You should be apologizing to her. I understand you're a victim here, but there is no room for you to be a victim when your 6 year old is on the line. She's stronger than you. Your 6 year old is stronger than you. At least she did something. She stood up for the two of you, which is more than you did for her. No, she won't apologize to him.

Richard: How'd it go?
Arizona: Oh, Dr. Grey. If you're free, Maddie here could use a little cleaning and laceration repair 'cause I'm being paged.
Meredith: Absolutely.
Richard: Meredith. Are you ok?
Meredith: I'm great. Thanks (takes Maddie's file) Hey Maddie, I'm Dr. Grey. Mind if I take a look at that cut on your face?
Maddie's Mom: You know, she's so sorry. So sorry.
Maddie: Is my daddy gonna die?
Meredith: I don't know. I hope not.
Maddie: How come?
Meredith: How come what?
Maddie: How come he don't die? I shot him lots'a times. How come he don't die?

Thatcher: (reads from a book) I'm so deeply sorry for every time that I ever hurt you, or disappointed you, or let you down. I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I hope, I so hope, that you give me the opportunity to earn it.
Meredith: Thank you. Congratulations on... you seem well. Good luck.

Meredith: Hey, you got paged too?
Lexie: Yeah, report to the Chief's office, STAT. What, what do you think? Why? Why would he page us STAT?
Meredith: I don't know. Did we kill anyone lately and don't remember?
Richard: Your father's here. He's 29 days sober, just out of rehab. He's taking it seriously. He's working his steps. The 9th step is to make amends wherever possible. It's the key to an alcoholics recovery. To take responsibility for the wreckage of his past. I paged you here to ask you to please hear him out as a favor to me. To please, hear him out.
Meredith: Ah, I'm covering the pit Chief.
Richard: I'll cover it.
Meredith: But, there's a trauma coming in.
Richard: I've got it Meredith. Please. Please.

Alex: Chicken.
George: Good chicken.
Meredith, Cristina: It's chicken.
Izzie: I know it's chicken! I wanna know what it tastes like.
Alex: Tastes like chicken.
Izzie: I'm having surgery today.
Bailey: Maybe, if the meds are strong.
Izzie: I am maybe having surgery today, and as such I cannot taste the chicken for myself. So I really need you guys to tell me what it tastes like. I need to nail down this dinner, so I can announce it on Meredith and Derek's wedding website.
Meredith: There's a website?
Izzie: So, can you please be a little more articulate than just chicken?

Meredith: [narrating] Remember when we were little, and we would accidentally bite a kid on the playground? Our teachers would go "Say you're sorry." And we would say it, but we wouldn't mean it. Because the stupid kid we bit, totally deserved it. But, as we get older, making amends isn't so simple. After the playground days are over, you can't just say it. You have to mean it. Of course, when you become a doctor, sorry is not a happy word. It either means you're dieing and I can't help. Or, it means this is really gonna hurt.

Meredith: [narrating] To do our jobs we have to believe defeat is not an option. That no matter how sick our patients get, there's hope for them. But, even when our hopes give way to reality and we finally have to surrender to the truth, it just means we've lost today battle. Not tomorrows war. Here's the thing about surrender, once you do it, actually give in, you forget why you were eve fighting in the first place.

Meredith: So I guess a big wedding won't be that bad.
Lexie: I'm just sad 'cause I didn't get a chance to see you in the actual dress.
Meredith: You will.
Lexie: How? I mean, if Derek and Mark don't make up how...
Meredith: You're my sister Lexie. You're in the wedding.
Lexie: Oh my god. I'm gonna be a brides maid? Oh my god, I don't know what to say.
Meredith: Well, you should wait and see what Izzie's picked out for you to wear. Then you'll have plenty to say.
(Mark and Der walk in... together)
Derek: Do you want one?
Mark: So much. We can still catch the last half of the game.
Derek: Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
(Mer and Lexie look on dumbfounded)
Meredith: You can stop eating now.
Lexie: Oh thank god!

Meredith: Ok, before you guys go in there and start cutting on this patient you need to apologize to each other. If not for the patient, for me. Or, for Lexie. Look at her! Her face is breaking out, her ass is humungous.
Lexie: It's true, I had to get the scrubs with the elastic waist band.
Meredith: If you don't apologize right now, she's not scrubbing in.
Lexie: I won't, and you can't make me! (shoves another cookie into her mouth) This should be a joyful time. Your best friends getting married, you should be the best man.
Derek: The Chief will be my best man.
Meredith: What?
Lexie: Is my ass really that...
Meredith: Lexie, would you excuse us please? (Lexie leaves) The Chief?
Derek: The best man is my choice. When are you gonna let go of the grudge you have against the chief?
Meredith: Derek, the man had an affair with my mother. Broke up my parents marriage, and basically destroyed my childhood. Meanwhile, you've been best friend with Mark for 20 years, and you're willing to throw all that away over nothing. So, don't talk to me about holding grudges. I'll get over mine, when you get over yours.
