• Age (2/14/2009)

  Nikki, Lexie is Thatcher's 2nd daughter. She's older than Molly by 2 years I think.

  Neurosurgery residency is approximately 7 years. As Callie said it's 4 years of high school, 4 years of college, four years of med school. So if Derek was 18 when he graduated high school, he would have been 26 when he finished Med School and then 33 when he finished his residency. That puts it at approximately 6-8 years as an attending.

   

• Age (2/14/2009)

  Hannah (Izzie's daughter) was 11 and was born when Izzie was 16. I believe in Grey's years it's only been a year since Hannah's transplant so Izzie would be 27-28ish.

  When Cristina had her surgery for ectopic pregnancy the OR Board said she was 28 and that was before Hannah appeared so Cristina is 29-30ish.

  Kate Burton (Ellis) is only 12 years older than Ellen.

  Lexie just told Mark she was 24 because she skipped a year of school. If Thatcher and Ellis divorced when Meredith was 5 then Meredith would AT LEAST be 29-30.

  Residency length depends on the specialty. Remember that Callie, Sydney and Miranda are all 5th year residents.

  Addison is 39-40 and since she, Mark and Derek (and Naomi and Sam from PP) went to Med School together they are all about the same age. (I believe Naomi is roughly a year younger than Addison because she was 38 when Addie was 39)

• You know you're a Grey's fan when... (2/14/2009)

  My Neurologist is a fan of Grey's Anatomy. Next time I see her I'm seriously going to ask her why she's an Archer Montgomery instead of a Derek Shepherd.

  The hospital I go to for a lot of my care reminds me of the set design of Grey's. (The actual set, not the Veteran's Hospital)

  My mom (who is my caregiver) knows to either have me laying in bed by 7:45p or be forced to wait until 10p so that I am not interrupted during Grey's or PP.

  I went to the same high school as Kenn Jankowski (he's a few years older) of The Republic Tigers. That was our school mascot from Republic, Missouri. (I graduated in 2001)

  More You Might Be a Grey's Fan If:

  - You wish your orthopedic surgeon looked (and sang) like Sara Ramirez

  - You wish your plastic surgeon looked like Eric Dane

  - You wonder if all Heart Transplant Patients look like Jeffrey Dean Morgan

  - You look at all the residents and interns at your teaching hospital and try to match them with characters. "Seriously, Mom, that blonde one was an Izzie!"

  - You've noticed your ability to get others addicted to Grey's even if their addiction is not as strong as yours

  - You wonder how many hot shot neurosurgeons have one night stands with interns

  - You are seriously tempted to ask your plastic surgeon if he eats blueberry scones and orders bone-dry cappuccinos.

  - You know can name famous Grey's fans (Taylor Swift, anyone?)

  - You burst out to tears when Derek yelled, "She's not a Jane Doe. It's Meredith Grey! It's Meredith!" Then you wanted to hit the paramedic for not realizing it was Meredith.

  - You find yourself repeating Alex's speech to Izzie after Denny died to someone who's loved one just passed away

  - You thought Addison was evil she got drunk and told "Amanda" that she was going to get gloriously fat.

  - You ever wondered what would have happened if Meredith had taken Mark up on his 20 minutes in an on-call room offer

  - You think it's funny to talk about yourself in 3rd person

  - You express your wishes to paint your room red because Cristina says "it's a happy color...like blood"

  - You read fan fiction and get upset when other people who call themselves fans misspell the characters names. It's Sloan not Sloane, Derek Shepherd not Dereck Shepard, Izzie not Izzy, Karev not Kerev, and Addie not Addy

  - You cried like a baby when Harold O'Malley died then went to hug your parents

  - You know in your heart that Mark Sloan being Chief of Surgery would have been a good morale booster.

  - "Dude, she's Callie O'Malley," still makes you laugh

  - You wish you could have heard Sandra Oh and Chyler Leigh sing "Like A Virgin" in it's entirety
