I think it would be extremely tempting for SR to be the first person in TV history to kill off a title character ... that kind of thing would be talked about for decades, especially if it works and somehow the show keeps going and is just as good. But that does not mean it will happen. If their are two deaths this sweeps and one will not stick, Mer's seems like a good contender for the latter.

Classic Grey's, with the first half hour being set up and the second half hour being all pay off. An interesting contrast is that unlike the Mer Dies Trio of Eps everyone LOOKED really good last night. People keep saying it and it is true, the hair the makeup everything looked good. Especially Christina at the end, sometimes you forget how beautiful Sandra Oh is, but when she came in to Burke's room with her hair all flowing around she just looked amazing.
The scene in the closet was one of the best ever IMO. I have said it before but ... this show is pretty much the best on TV at writing and acting significant emotions that are portrayed without any words. They ran the whole gamut of emotions from the brief joy of discovering each others feelings to embarrassment anger loss and everything in between in less than a minute with just their eyes faces and body language. Great stuff!
I agree with the people who wish we had seen more of Callie's dad. As always there was so much crammed in an hour we did not get to really see that relationship or understand more about Callie's family which is a shame.
The Jane Doe SL is going well, it seems, and it is nice to see more character development from Alex. You would think he would be more upset that Mer is scrubbing in on the plastics op especially after all of the hours he logged in getting coffee for McSteamy, but it seems like he just accepts that things with that guy will never be fair.
It was nice to see Mer step up and be a really good surgeon again. It has been a while, you almost forget all of the stuff from season one where she was "gifted" and all of that. I liked the scene at the end ... "dead mommy would be happy" :).
Overall it seemed like Burke's comment to Christina about how he was only interested in going forward, not backward, was a theme for the ep. A lot happened that really moved several plots forward, which is understandable now that we are coming down to the end of the season. I read somewhere that there are only two eps left of Grey's?? Please someone tell me that is bad/wrong info because there is too much out there for two eps!
Can't quite talk about George & Izzie yet. I have posted several times that I did not think it was going to happen, but now that it has happened it makes sense. I will fully admit that the fact that I like Callie is coloring my ability to digest that SL ...
But I do think that you guys are right that Addison said adultery first in her conversation with Izzie. That could be because Addison's own experiences mean she automatically equates "wrong person" with "adultery" ... or it could be because Addison automatically knew what Izzie was talking about. Callie and Addison kind of confide in one another, and looking back on the season (especially the "I married the help" conversation) you can get the sense that Addison knows about Callie's family money ... she may even know Callie's family since Addison comes from a wealthy background as well. Anyway, they talk so she could guess that way or simply from all of the public outbursts Izzie has had about George. What is interesting is that Mer and Christina did not even remotely guess or suspect. That part was hard to believe, especially since they were up before Izzie so when they said "George is still here??" you think it would have clicked that meant George slept in Izzie's room.

Yes, you are correct that the title of the show is a reference to the famous anatomy textbook.

If they did have sex ... ugh. So angry! George does not deserve Callie.
