  • Jeffrey Dean Morgan to Appear on at Least Five Episodes (11/17/2008)

Hey! Don't forget "Dallas" brought back J.R. Grey's Anatomy could certainly bring back Denny. Ummm... I'm really thinking its the brain tumor though. Either she's seeing things or she's already comatose and dreaming. She'll have surgery and wake up to Alex who's going to realize how much she means to him. He'll take care of her - they may throw in some memory loss - TA DA - happily ever after. ...or Izzie dies. For the "Sixth Sense" people saying Izzie is already dead - GIVE ME A BREAK!! More than just Karev noticed Izzie. Dr. Dixon acknowledged her presence multiple times, Bailey gave her that look when she spoke about the surgery. They can all see her. She's not dead already and back as a ghost.
  • Memorable Grey's Anatomy Scenes: The End of Callica (11/7/2008)

4ccsofgreys, Multiple characters, including Derek and the chief, have allowed their personal lives to affect their work lives. Sure, Hahn was rough around the edges, but so was Addison when she first came on the show. Hahn didn't really have much of a chance to settle in a develop, but I was starting to see glimpses of a good person here and there. Her crap to Callie about not being bisexual - just bad writing. I must again say that I HATE Shonda's statement about how Callie is the lesbian on the show. Umm, Callie is BISEXUAL, which you have, on more than one occassion, made very clear to us! While I think its great that Callie will spend time "mourning" Hahn, I must say that if Callie's character goes back to men, never has another female partner, or its just plain never mentioned again that she was "bisexual" - to me Callie's bisexuality has just become and experimentation.

For all of those people calling Dr. Dixon a freak, I would like to remind you that she has a legitimate condition that makes her socially impaired (as Bailey puts it in the elevator).

It'd be like looking at a person confined to a wheelchair and calling them a freak.

  • Hallie? Cahn? (10/26/2008)

You are exactly right McSmarty!  GA does reach a MUCH larger fan base than any of the other shows I listed, and they're making the Callica story a central story line, not something silly on the periphery of the show.  The writers, in one episode, have blown the amazing opportunity they had to portray a realistic lesbian relationship.

When I first heard the rumblings of a lesbian couple, I figured GA, like other shows, was only throwing in a "freak show" for ratings.

When they first started the relationship, I couldn't have been happier.  The fast, close friendship, the casual flirty-ness and then slowly the realization that something is different.  The being scared, the questioning.  The trying to be "normal."  It was all portrayed so well and spoke so truly to lesbians remembering the moment they realized and their first crush.  Okay, maybe not everyone tried to be "normal," but I did, and I don't think its unbelievable for Callie to start sleeping with Mark every chance she gets to try and convince herself that she likes men.  And when they kissed finally at the end of last season, I got butterflies in my stomach for them!

This season started and the writers still did a great job.  The nervousness and being afraid of messing up.  I love that Callie was being flighty and Erica was just very calm and reassuring to her.  Its almost like they're writing Erica as a long-time lesbian as opposed to a first-time lesbian (for lack of better words to describe this).  They communicated, they took it slow, the really developed the characters and the relationship.  I mean, Callie even came out to Bailey!  Last week ended with me telling my friends that Callie and Erica were the only couple that had a normal, healty relationship on the show.

Then that disaster of an episode last week!  UGH!  I don't care about stereotypes - they exist for a reason - to be honest this doesn't even remind me of one of the countless lesbian stereotypes (maybe a bisexual stereotype?)  I'm beyond disgusted - and you're right, how in the world could GLAAD have approved this?!  I mean, not only does it scream that a woman can't please another woman without help from a man, but its just STUPID!  If Callie was still in her scared, trying not to be gay/bi phase - her behavior wouldn't upset me.  But she's not!!

Great job GA writers!  You choked on the national stage!  You failed at writing a meaningful lesbian relationship and instead you might as well be writing about one of your in-passing, patient storylines thats more for shock value.

  • Three Preposterous Things (10/26/2008)

Isiah, you are definitely not the only one bothered by any of those things.  Especially about Callica.  You can find the irked Callica fans everywhere on this board and especially afterellen.com.

I don't think that the one failed attempt at sex has made Callie decide she is not bisexual.  However, I do think her comment, "I don't like to be bad at the things I do," makes it seem like her relationship with Erica is just about conquering the challenge of it.

I do think Derek's comment was harsh, but I don't think it was uncalled for.  It wasn't aimed at Meredith personally, but professionally, and besides he can't be her boyfriend in the hospital.  I don't remember the "you're not good enough" part of the quote - but yes, Meredith is a baby in the surgical field.  On top of that, they're fighting, we all say stupid things when we're fighting.  Doesn't make it right, just means it happens.
