JUMPING THE SHARK: Once a show has "jumped the shark," the viewer senses a noticeable decline in quality or feels the show has undergone too many changes to retain its original charm. A term to describe a moment when somethin that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity. Refers to the specific moment when a TV show goes downhill. The precise moment when you know a program, band, actor, politician, or other public figure has taken a turn for the worse, gone downhill, become irreversibly bad, is unredeemable.Posted 5/15/2007 1:00:00 AM #

I don't think Grey's Anatomy has offically "jumped the shark" but its just seems they are pushing the envelope. I will always be a fan no matter what happens on the show, and I will always watch, but I really think they should have waited with the whole spin off!Posted 5/15/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Yep. Had something really special and may have blown it, timing is everything and the Addie thing may be a bridge too far. Gutsy try anyway. Hope they dont overplay the MerDer thing and really screw up.Posted 5/15/2007 1:00:00 AM #

nah you aren't jumping the shark. I don't think GA is jumping the shark just yet. It just seems they are focusing more on drama than building characters, relationships, and actual storylines. I wanna plot not fightingPosted 5/16/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Jumping the Shark refers to the old show "Happy Days," when their ratings were declining, so they had Fonzie jump a shark on water skis as a gimmick. It didn't work, and it seemed like they had no where to go with the plot lines so they tried this. I think this was the next to last season for this show, so they now use it to refer to any show that is grasping at straws, but may be on the declinePosted 5/17/2007 1:00:00 AM #

So many people are complaining about Grey's Anatomy and how bored and annoyed they have become with the show. The ratings aren't really slipping, but House did beat Grey's last week. I think since Shonda isn't giving in with the whole happy ending thing and that makes people pissed. I am not pissed about that. Its a show with turns and twist and I will always stick around to see what happens. What I am pissed about is waiting 4 months, 1/3 of a year to see next season...Posted 5/17/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Let's give the actors some time with their families. But it is hard for us, once you get used to watching a show. We have a show in Germany that is on for more than 20 years every Sunday. If they ever stop it I know some people who will seriously hurt themselves...Posted 5/17/2007 1:00:00 AM #

@Pschyrembel I'm afraid the Lindenstrasse will be on screen for the next fifty years with a nice Helga- and Hansemann-clone...;)Posted 5/26/2007 1:00:00 AM #
