George resembles me the most out of all the SG staff.

Well, to be honest, most of us can relate to George because he is the most real, most, if I can say so, normal character. He is ordinary (yes, I used that word), good looking guy, he has the most realistic issues (like when his dad died), so he is kind of an "easiest" character that everybody can relate to. And, I'm saying this as a positive thing of course. And, after all, he is one of the famous fab 5.

I don't think he is ordinary. He is in some ways, but who among us would be brave enough to die to save a stranger, to get dragged for blocks by a bus to save another human being. How many doctors would risk their jobs to support the nurses during their strike? How many would go after a world-famous anesthesiologist so they could protect a little girl he's operating on? How many would find a way to save a patient's bar and go directly against his boss' wishes to do so?

How many would give the woman they love away to another man because he just wanted their happiness?

George was pretty extraodinary just by how much he cared about the others and his friends.

Being a good, selfless person in this society is pretty extraordinary.

Oh and George is by far my favorite character. He always has been, and I don't think that'll ever change.

Ok, I probably used a wrong word here. George is pretty amazing, and I admire to everything he has done. But, my point (and I had one) is that George has all the good things that a person can wish in somebody, so most of us like to compare (at least partially) with George. And, I gotta say, that is pretty extraordinary, that someone can achieve that.

I really had a problem with the "George" character.  He did do admirable things, sure, but overall, he was a wet blanket with no soul or gumption.  I especially did not enjoy watching him ruin a marraige - a marraige that was all wrong to begin with, sure, but a marraige none-the-less.

And, honestly, I couldn't get past the fact that T.R. played a straight character.  After all the behind the scenes drama about TR's orientation, it was impossible to suspend reality and believe he was a heterosexual on the show.  I really believe that the reason why his "marraige" to Callie seemed doomed was not because of Izzy, but because George seemed more likely to be into Derek or any of the other guys!  I guess I'm just a shallow person, but I was totally and completely unable to see George as a straight character, and I suspect many folks had the same problem.  (And I'm fine with gays, really, I just couldn't see THIS character as being straight.)

Finally, George had too much history with Meredith and Izzie and Callie to have the story go anywhere else with him.  He had run out of options, and unless Shonda wanted him to break up ANOTHER relationship or introduce ANOTHER new character, George was doomed to be the constant reminder of everyone's past indiscretions.

I hope TR finds meaningful employment in his future.  Somehow, I think his best bet is to put all his G.A. earnings into a solid, safe bank account.  I cannot see him breaking out of his type-cast at this point.  It is too bad he walked away from the best show on television, but I believe Grey's will be better off without him.  Sorry fans!

George doesn't have a soul? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what you wrote... It's like you said McDreamy doesn't have perfect hair. George HAS a soul, and a big heart.

Oh, and I think George had a lot of potential storylines, they could've wrote a million of good things for him if he stayed. Like, for example, him developing as a trauma surgeon. But, I guess now we'll never find out the possible outcomes for George's character.

P.S. For me, George is totally a straight guy, T.R. really did a great job with this character, so that I forget he is a gay in real life when I watch him acting. So, I guess I can say, it's a great acting from him. I wish him all the best in the future.

George had no gumption? That's the guy who stood by the nurses at the risk of his job. The guy who always took the extra step for his patients, the guy who went back to redo his internship at the risk of being humiliated by the others. That's the guy who asked for a second chance at an exam and got it.

He fought for everything he got. That takes gumption. Jumping in front of a bus for a stranger takes gumption.

He had no soul. Are you serious? Why? Because he made one drunken mistake. Then really nobody on this show ahs any soul at all because they all made mistakes and many of them did commit adultery or participated in adultery with someone who was married, including Derek, Mer, Izzie, the chief, Alex.

He made a mistake. That doesn't take away all the good he did. George had probably more soul and heart than any of the characters put together.

You saying he has no soul is like saying Hitler is a misunderstood confused good man.

I can't believe you said he couldn't play straight because TR is gay. Hello, it's called acting.

    Playing something you are not.

I had no problem believing him as straight at all. He and Izzie were my favorite couple and I thought they ahd more chemistry than any couple on this show. Many Gizzie and Gexie fans had no problem with TR playing straight too.

People like you make me sad really. This is the 21st century. Live with it.

George could have been paired with Lexie. That would have been a lot better than Mexie. And yes, they could have brought a new girl for him. Shonda brings new characters all the time, so why not one for George?

That girl at the end would have made the perfect love interest. Heck, I would even have liked him with Sadie. They had chemistry.
