Hey Gloria-
I wish Shonda wouls stop trying to make this show cutesy. I always liked the humor, realistic humor that the show portrayed. Laughing during tragic times like when George's brother's broke wind because well as gross as that was sometimes that happens especially when you're experiencing what that family was. But that scene was funny because it got the family out of it's dispear just for a moment and they all started to laugh along with Callie. It was just realistice to me.
Laughing at Cristina's reaction to her mother first meeting Burke and how embarrased Cristina was by what her mother was saying to Burke. That was funny, realistic funny.
But somehow the realism on this show is just being destroyed with each episode and the cutesy is not cute at all it's just looks out of place and juvenile like Izzie getting ready to fight Callie in the cafeteria over George.
Sorry, but as real as it is that women still lower themselves to fisticuffs over some man, in this scene, with the character of Izzie doing it, it just came off as horribly fake and juvenile. It was ridiculous and I believe we were actually if not to find it cute, we were to find it funny, I am very sure that, that scene was Shonda's idea of breaking up the tension and adding the funny. That entire eppy was nothing but a repeat to me of "Yesterday" which was also about how a few of the characters were in childhood, like Mer, Crisitna and Bambi, except that eppy focused more on Mer's daddy issues and being left, Cristina's need for perfection which they failed miserably to expand on how that very much influenced how she handled the apartment issue with Burke and keeping it a secret, and then Bambi's insecurities of being not seen nor heard which eventually led to the bad, bad, bad.... sex with Mer.
She is so NOT a good dramatic writer, nor comedy writer either so she better pick drama and just stick to it.
