So, the question IS, what the heckles goes on between Derek and Mark to cause the rumble?
Here's what I think: I think Derek overhears someone say that Mark is sleeping with "Grey" and he thinks that it is Meredith. Of course, Meredith has seen the rose petal, so shes being super avoiding of Derek and Derek is oblivious to why, until he hears Mark is sleeping with "Grey".... An Honest Mistake, people!!

The honest mistake has to do with a surgery. They say that in the promo. It could have two meanings. I think that that is a good theory but Mer's not being avoiding because of the rose petal. It's because I think she doubts their relationship bc she didn't know all these things that are coming up with the presence of old friends.
That would be really funny if that theory were true. I think/hope Derek trusts Meredith enough that he knows she wouldn't cheat on him. I would say maybe he punches Mark because he's sleeping with Lexie, but, thats not a "Dereky" thing to do.
It could be from something that came up from the past...

Derek punched Mark because he thought he could trust him. He asked him whether he can trust him and Mark said yes, Of course, you can trust me. And he went on hanging out with Lexie, sleeping with little Grey. So he betrayed him and for the man like Derek 'the word makes the man'. It doesn't need to be complicated. Derek was tired and frustrated, heard what Mark did and Mark obviously is at least half a man.

I'm not sure why Derek would get into a fist fight with Mark over Lexie. I mean, granted she's Meredith's sister in all, but Derek was pretty worked up over something. I think there's more to the fight than just Lexie.

what an interesting theory that maybe Der would think that Mark was sleeping w/e Mer! That would make for a lot of drama for sure.
I don't think he'd punch Mark about Lexie, but maybe...
I do think Jen, the pregant aneurysm paient is going to die and Der is going to feel so responsible... maybe made a mistake on that first surgery that she talked him into doing when he was so tired after Archer's surgery... so he's obviously going to be all worked up about that, but w-t-h would Mark say to him that would get him going enough to punch him??? (keep in mind that Mark can get him pretty fired up after the whole Addie thing)...

i agree with merderforlife, derek wouldnt punch mark continuously because he slept with merediths sister. even though derek seems protective over lexie in a weird way, i still think something else must have provoked him.

Maybe it was something about meredith, and also something to do with the surgery, and just a combo of old things from the past that got derek upset at mark. Notice it seems like mark is the one getting punched out the whole time. Maybe mark knows he was in the wrong. Cannot wait, i am really starting to enjoy this season. :D
