I know everyone is talking about how Meredith needs to let Derek in - but I can see why she's backed off lately...he told her he doesn't know if he can breathe for her...so it seems maybe she doesn't want to put her issues on him. To me, it just seems that ever since the ferry arc episodes, they just changed gears and nothing fits together anymore. It seems like everything is being done for shock value alone. The logical conclusion once Meredith drowned was that she made up with her mother and was finally valued. She was given the peace and reason she needed to move forward. Shonda said she doesn't put people in the water for no reason, but what was the point if nothing changed afterward. She should have told Izzy about Denny, talked to Christina about her father, told Derek why she came back and about her mother. I thought it was very out of place for Izzy to go off about George making a mistake with Callie while they were all out there waiting to see if Meredith lived or not. It just didn't fit. And now, for Izzie, she has been getting over Denny this entire season. She has not been dreaming about George, and was never really attracted to him at all. Remember him feeling more like a girlfriend than a man in the first season? So now, all she does is follow George around and they are together constantly. To me, it's just not believable and if anything, they should both admit that she is just transferring her feelings for Denny to someone else. I guess her daughter was brought back simply so she could have something else to cry on George's shoulder about. What would be in line with the characters and the relationships on the show would be for her friends to help her through that just like they did with Denny. She has confided in both Addison and Burke about George, right. True, she didn't tell Addison who it was, but if Addison watched for half a second, she would figure it out. So, Callie comes to her about watning to have a baby, and Addison says nothing. George and Burke are talking about marriage and the wedding, and George even admits to loving two people, and Burke never once encourages him to do the right thing or even responds to what George is telling him. Again, it doesn't fit with their past relationship. Alex and Addison were headed toward something, but then that was all halted and once they finally got together, it didn't make sense. And then for him to respond by saying "you're not my girlfriend" didn't make sense either, considering how he was the only one who was making her feel valuable earlier. Susan dying almost made you feel nothing because it was lost in the 2 hour PP episode, and their relationship was just beginning to build. Had they continued to build that relationship into next season, it would have meant something, if it needed to happen at all. As for Derek and Meredith, they have been nothing more than an afterthought this entire season. The ferry story could have been great, if they had done anything with it afterward, instead of acting like nothign ever happened. She has never ignored him. Even when she finally chose him this season, it wasn't like a big deal, but it should have been the moment they had been waiting for. It was kind of like, "see you tonight" as they passed on the elevator, and that has been the summary of their relationship. They keep being compared to Ross and Rachel on "Friends," but by the time they finally got together, no one cared.Posted 5/13/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Sorry, I just do not see any of the things that you are talking about. I think that if you listen to the podcasts, watch the show from season one and read the writer's blog, that all of this makes sense. George and Izzie's relationship has had the possibility for more from the beginning, even though he "loved" Meredith. We found out this season that George never thought Izzie would be into him because she is a supermodel and he is just George. Alex is a very damaged man that does not like to let people in. He really does like Addy, but knows that it could go somewhere, so he backs out. Just like he did with Izzie, except there he got caught sexing a nurse. Meredith has had everything and the kitchen sink thrown at her this season. Her and Derek have not had a real shot at settling into a good relationship yet. They are both damaged and have a hard time with this kind of relationship, because in different ways it is totally new for them. Meredith has never had a committed, adult relationship and Derek has said himself that he has never loved someone like he loves Meredith. Plus remember that Meredith does not remember the near death experience. All she remembers is that she wants to live now. She has changed in that way and that is a big change for her. I think that if you watch this show critically, you can see how it all works together and how smart the writing is. I am reawatching this 3rd season and am seeing so many connections to the end that I did not remember. I think that once the DVDs come out, this season will become just as classic as the first two. Hey Burktina Forever I have missed you guys too. Just been going through a hard time in the last 2 or 3 months. But I am doing much better now. Still got some issues to deal with but mostly I am back. I think that burktina will get married and that we will get some kind of clue about how things are going to work with merder. I have faith that they will end up together in the end I just don't think it will be smooth sailing right now. I was George and Izzie together....it's not that I don't like Callie I just could never get really connected to her....she has always felt like an outsider to me. I have acutally accepted sloan more than her. I am not sure why really. she is nice enough I just never could see callie and george together they just look like an odd couple. Hey Purple! well I hope everything is ok for you and I am glad to see u are back! And I totally agree with everything u said about everyone! lol I soo want this Burktina wedding, and I just want Merder to work everything out! and as for O'stevens I do want them together, even though to me its sort of weird because its like they were brother and sister and now they like love each other I do like them together! and Callie has sort of grown on me but I like you I have always looked at her as an outsider I mean she never got along with any of Georges friends to well like Mer or Cristina have never really been friends with her so I really don;t think Callie and George will last for much longer!Posted 5/13/2007 1:00:00 AM #
