I just think that you are asking for her not to grow. I think that if you look at the seasons, she is one of the characters that have grown the most. And she is still being very true to Cristina. But as a married person; growing together is important. And as you do that, some things change about you. You take on characteristics of your partner and it is sometimes a give and take. But in the end you are becoming one and it is a beautiful thing. I am not saying that Burke has it all right, but love is not always easy or clean.

I totally agree with you and I love how she has developed through seasons and I do want her to grow, but I'm just fighting for her to not want a big wedding and not being called unnormal for that. And of course I'm still missing a lot of season 3. Maybe it is a cultural thing, too. It's rather rare to get married after just one year (or less) relationship in Germany. Most people live together for a couple of years, a lot of them have a baby first and then kind of start thinking about getting married town-hall style or just don't get married at all. There are no bridesmaids and no maid of honor, you just have a witness. If you want to get married at church you have to go to townhall first - it's just like signing a contract and if you hurry you can be out within 7 minutes - and so we don't have these highly dramatic scenes of the bride running away from her waiting husband at church. Personally I have been married for almost 10 years now and so far it has been as you said - give and take and grow together (especially through taking care of our 3 kids).

Yes, we are still very traditional in the States when it comes to marriage.

Ok so I was reading one of the posts on Grey matter and here's an interesting idea...the McSkanky bar girl in the preview is Meredith's other sister Lexi!!! Wow that would be seriously juicy .... maybe we'd see Meredith and her get into a fight over Derek. What do you think?

I don't think so. If she was Lexi, her mother just died. I can't imagine her sitting in a bar, looking that content and flirting with a man while being in mourning...

Well with all that's gone on this season, nothing would surprise me anymore...it would sure light a fire under Meredith I bet....could you imagine the sister you never met and who had a relatively peaceful and loving upbringing comes home for fake mommy's funeral and then tries to steal Derek away...if I were Meredith I'd launch a full out war...at least it would be fun instead of the depressing crap we've had to endure this season.

Oh great now the McBar girl in the preview has been offered a guest role in a multi-episode arc for next season....poor Meredith and Derek can't get a single moment of peace to just work on their relationship.

i like the idea of her being mer's half sister. if she tried to steal der, i can just see me beating the hell out of her. fun. then mark would have to stitch her up. those two would make a great couple (mcskanky bar girl and mcsteamy i mean)

With no doubt, Burke has been a driving force into unraveling Cristina’s robotic and unfeeling ways. And I must say that both Burke and Cristina have grown together in more ways than one. Cristina does love Burke, and like pschyrembel said, she is far more in love than some of those getting married like her and in my own thinking, Cristina is ready to be married. In her own terms of course. I think Cristina in some way has changed her mind about marriage and finally decided to give it a try so long as its with Burke (and without a hitch … surely Burke and Cristina will do just fine when they are given a chance). I think Burke was very much aware of Cristina’s view on big weddings. But he did what he thought was good and again he took the first step and therefore catalyzing this big wedding. I must agree with pschyrembel. I want Cristina to have that wedding she wants. I don’t think Burke wants a big wedding. I think he wanted to be able to get married with the woman he loves and have their family and close friends witness their exchange of vows and become this married couple. I think a small wedding would be good in terms of Cristina and still have that intimate atmosphere as Burke would have liked it with their family and friends. Burke should have given Cristina a chance to planning their wedding and have him lead into what she wanted. But like I said before in other blogs, I wish Cristina will find that voice (that wife’s voice) and tell Burke to get with the program and make him sleep on the couch for a change. Now that is married life (Two people in love, living a life together, growing old together and once in a while exchanging their time on the couch). Hehe.

Yeah, a good fight scene where Meredith uses her "tiny ineffectual fists" and beats the pulp out of her. If Shonda and crew are going to break Meredith and Derek up again at least we wouldn't see Meredith going down without a fight. Now that would be bringing the fun back!
