"Physical Attraction, Chemical Reaction"

I didn't notice the poor editing... but I do agree that it wasn't the smoothest epi of Grey's, but it certainly had some exceptional moments. Those moments are why we are so addicted! I really hope the writer's get the compensation they deserve and that they can get back to doing what they love most and what we look forward to week after week...Posted 11/10/2007 1:00:00 AM #

It's interesting, I just watched the season 2 episode Damage Case on Lifetime channel. The one where Derek is mad at Meredith because he thinks she slept with Finn...and she tells him in the stairway, "when I met you I thought I found the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. All the boys and the bars and the obvious daddy issues, who cares. I was done". A reminder that Meredith wanted the same thing that Derek wants with her now. Her inability to commit in season 4 seems to be due to his leaving her for Addison.Posted 11/11/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Hey Rose thought as much too but you never know with Shonda. And now he is leaving her again... um... did i miss something from this epi? cos derek didnt ask mer for anything thing else...anyone?Posted 11/11/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Hi Rose, You can see that a deep wound may fester for some time before it is drained and can properly heal. Mer thought all those things you mentioned were behind her when she made the pick me, choose me etc speech. I think there will be a development because of her grief because Thatcher chose Lexie over Mer and then Derek chose Addison over her when Mer chooses to help Lex (note Mer now calls Lexie, Lex, a clear softening, she calls Izzie, Izz, when she is feeling "sisterly" )with Lexie's problems with Thatcher and his drinking. Mer will shine as the big sister and will forgive Derek, finally, for choosing Addie over her and forgive Thatcher for not choosing Mer, and then Mer can move on with Derek. Old wounds don't heal in 3 seasons!!!Posted 11/11/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Ausfan--well that would be a good thought if it happens. Going back to the pick me choose me moment you mentioned, there too Meredith said, I am so in this...as she begged Derek to stay with her. These two instances from season 2 make it clear Meredith was previously willing to commit to Derek before he hurt her, bad parenting notwithstanding.Posted 11/11/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Rose and Ausfan-- you are so on the same page as I am! A couple weeks ago I started watching season 1 on DVD and then I just started watching season 2 again--- the pick me, choose me part was epi 5. After watching I realized that we keep focusing on the fact that Mer isn't committing b/c she has all these "issues"... I think the reason she can't commit to him is that moment during her speech, when Der chose his marriage over her. B/c if you look at his face while she's talking, it is so full of love... and torment. He knew he was choosing his marriage right then. He tried telling her earlier in the epi that Addi was his family and that choosing to let go of his family would be a difficult decision for him that would take a lot of time and soul searching. When he didn't show at the bar after Mer's choose me, pick me speech, to Mer he was choose Addy. To Der, he was choosing his marriage. I think that Mer could get past the Thatcher issues to commit to Der, but she can't make it past the Der choosing Addy issues... and b/c of that the Thatcher issues just complicate everything, and mask it to some degree. i think Lex will be the key to Mer letting go of the Thatcher issues, and then Mer will be free to realize that she's not trusting Der b/c HE broke her trust and at that point the healing process will be full tilt and I think she'll get past it...Posted 11/11/2007 1:00:00 AM #

I agree with all of you and I remember the pick me choose me scene because I loved it and each time I watch it, I can recite the lines along with Meredith. I think Mer still had a lot of issues at that point in time that we weren't seeing that were enhanced through Derek choosing Addison and not telling Mer in the first place that he was married. To Mer that was a kind of betrayal. And then you combine everything that she experienced through the remainder of season 2 and especially season 3 and you combine all that with the life experience that Mer has had with her mother and everything and it resulted in Mer giving up so to speak, hence the drowning. Now Mer is trying to find her way post giving up and learning how to let go of all the hurt and betrayal and the wall that she has put up between herself and the ones who she has loved and who have loved her. It's a defence mechanism. Just a rambling thought anyways.....Posted 11/11/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Well I think we are headed in the right direction with our thoughts. Greysaddiction, I especially liked what you said about Meredith's issues with Thatcher complicating and maybe masking her pain from Derek's rejection. It would be amazing if she was able to let go of all that hurt and learn trust and forgiveness. Whether we will see that this season, I don't know.Posted 11/11/2007 1:00:00 AM #

I hope we do see some progress with all the issues you guys mentioned and i hope to God Shonda will not complicate things even more. I heard epi 11 is going to be a cliffhanger.Posted 11/11/2007 1:00:00 AM #

I just don't see how Derek picking another women instead of Mer. is going to help Mer. If she is still hurting from his first rejection(choosing marriage/Addie)how is this new love interest going to help things between them. I just don't get it.Posted 11/11/2007 1:00:00 AM #
