Love/Addiction

Well Grey’s is back in a big way! I have this feeling like we are repeating season one a bit. Derek is putting drops in his eyes after a long night of sex and everything is wide open with possibility. I have to start by talking about Meredith, Derek and their relationship. They both admit big things tonight. Derek realizes that he deserves something better, but also loves Meredith too much to abandon her. Meredith admits that she has daddy issues and cannot seem to let the world’s most perfect man in. Now I know that some people might see this as something that cannot work, but I see the growth. I think that Derek is willing to stick it out and wait for Meredith to change. He will be with her in the way that she can handle. I think that he is thinking, “Why not be with her as she grows, so we grow together.” Both of these people need each other because they love each other too much to let each other go. So, no matter what it takes, no matter the pain, they will stay together. And as they stay together, they may just be able to help each other heal. It is like season one, and they have the chance to make it this time. Lexie, tonight realizes that the father she has was not the same man for Meredith, and that the dad that she has now, after her mom’s death, is not the dad that she remembers. Lexie is going to have her own hard time and she may even need Meredith’s help to get through it. It will be though that pain that they can begin to heal each other and Meredith can begin to patch things up with her dad. I am really glad that, that seems to be something that they are going to work on, since that is one of the things that Meredith really needs. George and Izzie, are not over, but it is going to be a lot harder than either of them thought. It was good to see George want to do the right thing and tell Callie. It seems like it will all hit the fan next week. Mark was good tonight, I really like that he is the guy that seems to be there for people these days. Bailey was hilarious! Loved that she yelled at Alex and is using her gifts wherever she can. It was also great to see Alex respond like that to that patient; since his dad was an addict, he must have really been feeling like he was that kid. Love to see the way the patients have an affect on the residents. Cristina is going to be ok. As mama said, she is strong. It was great to see her with the patient at the end and see how much she has grown. She will be a great surgeon! Mama is Yoda. She understands all of those people and what they needed to hear. It was really good to see her put Meredith in her place and help George see who he is. I really loved what she said to Cristina; she cared for Cristina and really wanted to see the best for her. I think that she is right about Cristina and that see will be ok. I think that with Derek she was partly right. I think that Derek knows that Meredith is capable of becoming a more healthy person, if she is given time. Her issues are not like Cristina’s. Cristina cannot change who she is, fundamentally, but Meredith can heal the wounds that her father inflicted on her. Last season was about healing the mommy issues; this season is about daddy issues. So let the healing begin Shonda! This episode was really funny too! Reminded me of the blast that was season one! Every week I can feel the good stuff coming. Keep it up!Posted 10/4/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Seriously Greys SUCKS without Burke its just not the same anymore and I hate the Merder thing they are doing! I am glad the ratings went down now ABC and Shonda stupid Rhimes knows what a huge mistake they have made by firing Isaiah! Private Practice is a much better show then Greys right now!Posted 10/4/2007 1:00:00 AM #

I think you nailed it Matt. I agree that Mama Burke was only half right about Derek. He may not be geting back what he needs but he's not abandoning her and he knows it has to get better because Meredith is talking and we've seen some change and some growth. i noticed as well cristina is a much more compassionate surgeon ... she has changed and I think Burke gave that gift to her.Posted 10/4/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Very true. Derek was right, he is different than Burke and so are he and Meredith from Cristina and Burke.Posted 10/4/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Matt you cracked me up with the Yoda comment! I hope you are right about all the hopeful Der/Mer stuff. From your lips to Shonda's ears! Hey, I'll bet you were lovin Izzie tonite---she looked so pretty when she was smiling at George. They really go well together; as friends or lovers. He's come so far in his looks and personality. I guess a little confidence goes a long way. LOL The scene with Bailey and Alex was classic....she's so great. I think Mer's father is going to have to do some MAJOR groveling at her feet for her to even consider communicating with him. That could take some time---more than a season. It'll be interesting how they play that out.Posted 10/4/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Does anyone know where I can find the lines that Meredith says at the end of each episode. I want to find the one from tonight, it was brilliant.Posted 10/5/2007 1:00:00 AM #

I think this is the best ep we've had in a while! Well, people may not like the sex only Mer/Der, but they're working on it, and Derek is trying so hard. I think it's a good thing. The look Callie gave Izzie in the OR, that was a scorcher!! Yeowch! Man, I'd hate to be in her shoes! And Bailey, she was a hoot. It was nice to see Alex get decked, as often as he's mouthed off to people. Overall, I'd say it was a nice ep. Not quite season 2 material, but way better than season 3. I'll be back for next week!Posted 10/5/2007 1:00:00 AM #
