ok, I really want to say something here. Otherwise, I think I might become crazy sitting here. I started seeing GA about a week ago, and now I've finished all DVDs, and read all the news and forums about GA, and all the movies on youtube. Needless to say, lots of tears as well. First of all, I really really love merder. I hope that they will be together and I think they will. However, I also believe Shonda doesn't believe in fairy tale. And, it will take a long time for merder to truly get together. In the finale of season 3, derek said mer is the love of his life. However, I think it's der who doesn't know how to get and take care of his love. It's not mer who comes and goes whenever it's convenient. It's der who comes and goes whenever he wanted. Der doesn't truely understand what Mer has gone through, and doesn't really know what to do in order to get into Mer's heart. Sad, sad... Let's take a look of what Der came and go...When his wife show up, he left mer. Yet, mer didn't say anything. The only thing mer did is waiting. Waiting to get over with Der and move on. She was doing what Der wanted and meanwhile was doing her best to protect herself. And, what was Der doing? He asked Mer to be his best friend. Ironically, when he found mer is dating finn, he became outrageous and realized his feelings with Mer, and took her away. Badly, this didn't last long. After talking with the chief, he decided to cowardly (not bravely) walk away. Addison told him not to hurt Mer again, yet he did it again. What Chief did shouldn't be a role model for Der. Look at the pain Mer and Ellis had. That's what chief did. Der was too damaged to bravely embrace Mer and give it try. He chose to walk away and indeed hurted Mer again. (I truely love Shonda for making Der such a true character. It's probably what I would do if I were Der) And, then, after Der finished his fishing, he reapproached Mer and wanted to start all over again. When Mer was broken by her mother, Der became so afraid, and decided to step aside again! Oh, my god, Der! It broke my heart! Let's look at what Mer was doing all along. She stepped aside when Der chose his wife. She was hurted badly as she confessed with Addy. She finally picked herself up and started seeing Finn as a FRIEND, Der won't let her and destroy her link with Finn. When she finally broke up with Finn and told Der this news, all she got was a sad and silent Der. How crule! She was pushed away and agreed to give Der some space without any complain. She was so patient! And, when Der approached her in the bar, she complied with Der and agreed to start all over again. Yes, she didn't swim. However, she didn't give up on him! She was broken by her mother and brought back by her love of Der. Sadly, Der didn't know. After her drowning, what she should get from her boyfriend is no complain, no question, but love, lots of love. Sadly, she didn't get those, Der wanted to have a break yet again! All in all, it's not Mer who comes and goes whenever she wants, it's Der who comes and goes whenever he wants, and Mer has been waiting for his and complied to him over and over again. So, these are what I thought about MerDer, and I do think they could and should get together, but not a easy task! I think Shonda will give Der more shock in the season four. I think mer should step out from her endless waiting, and give Der some challenge. Mer is not a weak woman. She is capable and strong woman. mer is so damaged that she has been hurt badly by people who she loved. She is so afraid of approaching people and being rejected. That's the main reason that she stayed silent and patienly waited for Der to return when he chose his wife. She maybe overprotect a little bit, but not her fault at all with everybody seeing how her mother and father have treated her. If Der wants her, he should GO GET her. So, I think Shonda will give Der some challenges and rekindle Der's courage. There will be another man who Mer like as well, and Der will have to chase Mer and learn how to love her in her way! Along the same thread, I think Shonda might also give Mer some hard moments, like putting Der in a life-threaten situation where Mer cannot stay silent anymore, and she has to react to let Der know she loves him so much! In terms of Lexis, based on the trailer and spoilers, she won't be an opponent of mer. Instead, I think she want to know Mer and love her. The reason for this guess is that, first, she went to medical school, obviously knowing that her half-sister is also a doctor. this implies that she shares same compassion with mer on their career. Second, remember, Molly said her father is so proud of Lexis, and we've seen Mer's father was also eager to know how Meredith was doing in the hospital. He wants to approach her but doesn't know how (as we've seen in his conversation with Der, and what chief said about Mer's father). So, he definitely should have pictured Meredith in a good way in front of Lexis. In this sense, we could anticipate that Lexis who receives so much love from her father should expect his father would give same amount of love to her sister, meredith. Third, Lexis approached Meredith first, and in smile. So, we could tell that she loves her, and wants to know more about Mer. Lexis probably will be shocked to see how her father cruelly treats Meredith, which she might be able to do something about. Nevertheless, people who are to be surgeon cannot be selfish. hahaha! This might also explain what we saw in the spoilers that somebody is going to get in between Mer and Christina. It will be Lexis, who wants to be Mer's friend, which could piss Christina off. I'm so so sorry that I wrote too long. Nevertheless, I love MerDer, and really really want them together. It's just it's not an easy task, and we should prepare ourselves with more tears to spare. Hi and welcome LoveDerMcDreamy--- I really liked your take on the Der/Mer relationship. I honestly never saw things in that light, maybe because I watched it piece by piece with breaks in between the first time through. Seeing it all together, one epi after the other, could put a different slant on things, obviously for you it did and I can totally get where you're coming from. In Der's defense, however, you do have to admit that he has put himself out there for her, by professing his love more than once and she has stood there and left him hanging with no declaration of love back to him. A person can only take so much. Hopefully things happen this season that make them both see that they love each other unconditionally and they'll be able to show it without hesitation.Posted 8/31/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Hi luvthisshow, you are absolutely right that Der has indeed put himself out there in front of Mer and confessed his love. Sadly, right after his confession, Mer was sick. After Der talked with Chief, he decided to walk away. The second time, after he confessed his love, he felt so insecure and withdraw himself yet again, and ask Mer to take him out of his misery. It seems that these two confessions didn't really hold up for long. Wish he could give Mer some time to ponder what he said so that she could response his love with her love. :) Oh, btw, Mer also said she loves him when she asked Der to "pick me, love me"Posted 9/1/2007 1:00:00 AM #
