5.11 Wish You Were Here PDR
-
In the upcoming episode, Wish You Were Here, we can see a variety of opinion amongst the doctors about whether or not to save the Prisoner on Death Row.
If you were a doctor, would you save a serial killer?

Judging from the ads, Derek and Cristina seem hard-pressed to leave the patient alone whilst Meredith wants to save him. I can see both sides of the argument because the patient will be executed anyway, yet he's still a human being. =S

I think this was a problem in season 2, too. For Cristina. I don't remeber the episode name but there were the family that had an car accident and the man was drunkard and needed a kidney or something and the son didn't want to gave it to him because he was abusing his mother... And Cristina didn't want to save him but Burke said to her, that he's a human and they can't leave him on the table.
It must be hard but when you're a doctor you have no right to judge. And as a human being (not a doctor) I agree with Meredith and think she sees herself in him.
But my Professor of politics says that we're not lawayers we have to see the background not just read a low-book (because of them - the lawyers - Soviet Union was declared the most democratic place to living - ha ha).
And right or wrong when they not saving someone it's murder, isn't it?
Like Erica said for doctors there's right, there's wrong, there is no gray area. They're just like lawyers.
Just a question about something else - could you - someone - please explain the word candy striper me? It should by something in hospital. I've read Shonda Rhimes's worked like one. And I can't find it in dictionary, there's just stripper and I'm pretty sure, that's not right :-D

a candy striper is someone who hands out food and stuff to patients. Im not sure about my views on this episode i see dereks point...whats the point of saving someone if they are going to be killed anyway (its like trying to give cpr to someone who is dead for a week, there is no point) however just because he is on death row he is still a person and when you become a doctor you have a vow to do your best to save everyone and not judge based on character, looks, skin color, background. because of that vow they have to do their best to save him. I see this is going to be a very controversal episode. There are going to be alot of opinions but you have to keep in mind that he is human, if someone came up to you and said you are going to die next week than shoot you wouldn't you want to be saved so you can live up that last week? well its sorta the same thing. He is going to die but not right after the surgery. maybe like a few days maybe weeks later. He should be able to live those last few days and think about what hes done and why hes done it. Just because someone is going to die by lethal injection that doesnt mean you shouldnt help him. That is murder in the eyes of the law.

First of all, I love the quote Derek: "I hate to agree with Yang, but, I agree with Yang." Through the promo the glares and competition between Meredith and Christina are INTENSE! I hope there isn't too much strain between Mer and Der.
I don't know how I'd feel with a PDR paitent. It reminded me of when in Season 1 there was the rape victim and Rapist and they still tried to help the rapist even though he committed a crime. Now that I think about it, he is a person. Let the government kill him if they want. Doctors should help him because they took an oath to help paitents.

They should save him. No question there. I love Der, but I think he's wrong here. Don't get me wrong... I am NOT against the death penalty. I am Christian and the pure Christian in me says it's against the death penalty, but he rest of me isn't. The guy's still a person. They don't know what he did. But even if they do know what he did, it's not their place to judge. Really, they have it simple here... they don't have to decide this b/c they are doctors and a doctor's job is to do everything medically possibly to save and heal patients. Period.
