I think I know what is going to happen. George will not make it but Izzy will. I watched the last bit a second time. Izzy for one second looked at the elevator buttons. She is going to press the elevator closed leaving George and going back to Alex.
Rumor is they are both leaving. Any comments

I believe that too, that Izzie would survive ,and George will tell her that she should get back to Karev, oh my he was great last night! when he was crying I was crying too.
Maybe those rumors were on purpose so we will be more eager to see what happens to them.
I think both characters are really important!

I think that it will be like Mer when she died and came back, but George will send Izzie back and stay dead himself...I hope they both come back, I would miss either of them, but I think Izzie staying is more likely.

What if they both live? As Shonda said in her interview, there are no coincidences. We were looking for a way for these characters to leave because we believed they were looking for a way out. What if they weren't and it was all just to leave us hanging just a little bit higher for next season? Remember, they let Izzie marry sad, broken Alex
and they also introduced a potential love interest for George in the girl that he saved. She sure didn't seem to be going anywhere soon. The accident would be George's way out of the army commitment without an "intervention". What do you think? Possible???

I feel pretty positive that George will stay dead because he met Izzie when she got off the elevator, but I noticed that Izzie hesitated and didn't leave the elevator and that's when it ended. I think she'll come back, she has to!! Alex will be devistated.I wonder what impact George's death will have on the other doctors. He was close with Bailey and was married to Callie. Owen was his drive to sign up.
Also curious to see what happens with all the couples. We pretty much know where Derek and Meredith will be (married via a post-it note). I want to see Owen and Cristina's relationship advance. They are adorable together.
Shonda said that they will be able to shoot several episodes before Ellen goes on maternity leave, so hopefully she won't be gone from the show too long.
I hate to say I wish it was September, but I wish it was September!!!

I'm a bit confused about which one may die... The last scenes show George in surgery and outside the elevator, Izzie is the one coding and inside the elevator. Maybe George isn't the one who's death, maybe it's Izzie...
Staying inside the elevator means to cross, to go, to give up. Leaving the elevator maybe means to live and stay with the people she cares and that love her, means to fight, to be a do-er (as George said to her in the episode).
It's ambiguous and can have boths meanings, imo! And that's quite remarkable! The writters did a awsome job with this! Well done Shonda and co :)
And I wished it was September already. We still have all Summer ahead before finding out what's going to happen... arrrrrrrr

reading you guys' thoughts actualy makes me feel alot better. i thought my love for izzie was just making me look for possibilities. after the episode ended i was also thinking about that last scene. it just seemed wierd to me that she never left the elevator and went with george. also now that i watch it again you can see her hesitate and looking down at the buttons. i really hope she comes back next season cause to me grey's anatomy would not be the same without her.

I agree- I think George leaves and Izzie stays. Maybe it would be like Meredith in season 3- how her mother told her to go back. It might be the same here, George telling Izzie to go back to Alex and the others.
