  1. Life During Wartime

This was an AMAZING episode!!! Bailey with Hahn-- priceless! The Chief with Mer-- so needed. He is so the Dad that Thatcher never was. If he wasn't, if he didn't care for her like she is a daughter, he wouldn't be so upset and blaming himself for what he did wrong. We need this for Mer. And for the Chief. Cristina running and pulling Mer-- hilarious! BUT Cristina kicking *ss in surgery on all those pigs-- THAT is the doctor that she is. She is amazing. I liked what we saw of Hunt at the end. I have nothing but extreme pride and respect for those who selflessly defend our country and the freedoms we hold dear. I hope the GA writers intend to do U.S. soldiers honor in the character of Hunt. As for the Alex-Izzie moment-- I am glad he wasn't abusing her and he was being the Alex that we love. He will not change overnight, though-- that's not realistic. It will be bumpy. But I really still don't see it between them. They were sorta cute in that moment, but I see Alex in love with her (for as much as he's capable of right now) and I see that Izzie is lonely . and Alex is somewhat family. That's all. For the here and now-- OK, so Shonda and writers have Izzie with Alex (even though I don't see it), but George hanging out there. I think that George is totally absorbed with trying to catch up right now-- he's had no substantial interaction with anyone close to him lately. And, let's face it, George is not so thoughtless a guy as he's been with Lexie (who, by the way, is way off her rocker and needs to reel in the crush emotions before it's unbelievably humiliating for her!)... it's not his nature. I think things ended with Izzie romantically and that made things a wee bit awkward-- then add to that the fact that George started to repeat his internship year and the others moved on to being residents and now I think George is just frantically trying to change gears and catch up. He's got no time and energy for the other stuff right now. That's my take. But my take is also that Shonda and writers need to have George catch up real soon, and work on the Gizzie friendship (b/c there is NO WAY that they are not best friends anymore) and work on George interacting more with all he's close to (like Mer). Also, I think Shonda and writers will have to address George finding out about Alex with Izzie and deal with a realistic reaction to that.

I loved the last scene with Callie and Mark.  I don't think Callie's where Hahn is and I have to say that learning about their characters along the way will be good.  I have never seen too much in Callie, or in Callie with Mark, but that last scene with them was kind of sweet and sparked my interest finally.

I do like how the writer's are taking MerDer slow and realistically with challenges that they are working through together... but we could use a little MerDer steaminess thrown in now and then :)

As for Lexie-- I'd really like her to realize how her feelings are to out there with George and how it's not even on George's radar to think of anything like that with anyone right now!  I don't wanna see her embarrassed-- and if she doesn't reel it in soon, she's gonna be turning crimson soon!  I would love to see more interaction b/t Lexie and Mer-- I was really enjoying that last season.  I hope Shonda and writers have more plans for them in the near future.

All in all, this was a very powerful episode.  Greys is so indulgent for me.

I look forward to the next one!

  2. Izzie and Alex?

Alex & Izzie. This is disgusting. She's right in saying he acts like a barbarian. Izzie needs to get some self-value here and walk away. So, poor wounded Alex is testing her, so poor wounded Alex is so broken he doesn't know how to treat a partner with respect. What woman has not had some phase of her life when she always wanted the jerk-guy, the wounded bird that could still love on some level and was only going to love just her and she would/could fix him??? So, you want to say it's realistic? Fine, I guess you might have something there. But I can tell you that NONE of us who have matured beyond this twisted way of seeking a relationship wants to relive it by watching our favorite characters degrade themselves the same way that we have finally learned not to. Disgusting, Shonda, come on! Honestly, I am a Gizzie fan. George is a million times more a better man which makes him a million times more desirable, but many didn't want Gizzie together, so you split them apart. Fine, I can accept that for now... I can accept Izzie with someone else right now-- why not try someone like Mark with Izzie? Yes, he may be a male slut, but only because he hasn't found that girl yet-- he has so much depth and so much caring and tenderness (which we have seen with his relationship w/ Der and how he has interacted with Mer at times). I'm not saying it has to be Mark, but I am saying NOT ALEX! Writer's you had us intrigued about the mysterious Alex Karev. We were on board with that, with the idea about finding out more, seeing him evolve-- him, not Izzie fixing him or changing him. Is this the message you want to convey-- don't give up on people? Well that's all fine and dandy but you have to give Alex something positive that makes Izzie not want to give up on him. He's been nothing but nasty. She can support him and not give up on him as a friend. I'm on board with that. But for her to spread her legs wide open (and her heart) for him while he's acting like this is simply degrading and disgusting. To Izzie. To women. So, I know its a very strong negative opinion. Which I hate to do. So, I will end on this note-- Although I am extremely unhappy with the progression of the Alex/Izzie storyline, Greys is still my favorite show and I can't miss one minute of MerDer.

  3. Forever friends of Burke & Cristina

    OK Ladies,

I am totally excited after the promo!  And totally confused!  AND have you seen the comments fly about certain words not matching and whether or not it's all a trick?   (I've rewatched through links though and all seems to match up)  Well, I am fired up even more than ever.  But I have to say... I don't think I could handle any big huge utter disappointment, you know?  Now that being said, I still feel pretty confident that Season 5 is going to be GREAT!!!  I love when the shows start again... I love fall... cooler temperatures, change of season and routine, new school year, and NEW EPISODES!!!

I think Rose probably is pregnant.  or thinks she is.  or is lying to get his attention.

I think that the promo makes it look as if Der gets hurt.  But I don't think it's Der at all.

I think they'll be a proposal, maybe informal, maybe not on hand and knee, but I wouldn't expect a shiny diamond or a wedding any time soon.  However, I would expect some fantastic MerDer moments that we always live for.

And is that shard of glass, or whatever it is, flying at Cristina?  She had a black shirt on under her scrubs....????  This is not really what I had in mind for Cristina!!!

Any thoughts?  This stuff is crazy!  And I CANNOT WAIT!!!!

Well, I'm gonna sleep on it-- all the days start really early for me now!!

My biggest question mark is Izzie... Shonda has been SO quiet about Izzie.  What does that mean?  hmmm....

Catch up with you girls again soon!

Hey-- we're down to less than 30 days to go!!!  wooo-hooooo!!!  Smile

Hafsa-- I know what you mean-- I have the feeling it'll be Alex and Izzie to play out what they never finished-- I can't imagine it would last all season?  All we can hope for is that Shonda and writers see all the comments from fans saying NO Alex & Izzie!!!  Well, even if it happens, as painful as it might be, I won't stop watching-- not even for one epi!  Anyhow, I'm doing well-- the kids are great, school is starting (my oldest is first grade and my middle in preschool) and I'm ready for the change of seasons and all.  New routine, new stuff to do-- it's be good, I think.  Although my youngest is really going to go through sister and brother withdrawals after having them home all the time all summer!  lol!

So how do you girls think Shonda & writers are going to handle Cristina's sticky living situation?  Think she'll take Mer's room after Mer moves in with Der?  I guess that's the obvious answer, but how crazy that would be for her to have to be the one to move out-- I mean, that was her place with Burke.  I guess that could be part of Cristina getting some Burke closure and moving ahead.   Although I really can't imagine her just living with Izzie and Alex and that's just weird for Cristina.  Anyway, I expect to see big strides for Yang in Season 5.  I demand it, really!

Hope everyone's enduring the countdown time OK.  I hope the month goes by fast!!

    Hey there!

The clock is actually down to less than 33 days now!  How come that still sounds WAY TOO FAR FROM NOW???

Hey Gloria!  I'm doing great!  Life is crazy-- about to get crazier with my kids going back to school and sports, etc, but crazy is good for the soul, right?  I'm looking forward to my Thurs. nights with my Greys and my glass or two of wine!

I like what you said for Cristina-- sounds EXACTLY how it needs to be done!  Cristina has come a long way and no one has really gotten to see the effects of that.  She's going to be stronger, yet softer.  She's going to be even more headstrong, yet more aware of those around her.  She could truly be amazing.  But I would definitely like to see the writers start with Cristina the surgeon.  Bring her out of the Hahn dark cloud.  Start from there and then slowly bring in the love.  Nothing too hasty.  That's not how Cristina works.

I am quite relieved to be reading that so many fans are against the Alex/Izzie pairing.  Do you think that's where Shonda is really going to go? I SO hope NOT!

I am beginning to feel completely INSANE with how excited I am for new epis-- really, it's a bit nuts, given the fact that there's more than a month to go!

    Hi Girls,

The spoilers are flying like crazy!  And some of them are crazy!!  SO glad they are all about building Cristina up this year-- sounds pretty quiet as to what, but a definite something-- it's about time!!  I have to confess that I'm a Gizzie fan, so that would make me anti- George & Lexie and anti-Alex & Izzie.  Lexie & Mark?  Seems odd.  I'd have to see it.  As for Callie & Erica?  I wasnt' really too interested at the end of Season 4.  It would take quite a bit of convincing!

    Gotta run!

  7. Season 5 Premier Countdown is on.......

MKathy-- you know what's funny-- I didn't see the countdown clock at first-- I think I posted somewhere that I wanted it back and it was there all along!  LOL.  Apparently my gaze doesn't quite reach that far right!!  Still more than 37 days-- that sounds SO LONG!  I too, am very curious about how Denny will re-enter the picture.  I was amazed by Denny-- he really was fantastic.  But being dead must make it quite a challenge for the writers to write him in!  ;)  I am ready for Izzie to find purpose again in every aspect.  I am one of the die-hard Gizzie fans (I know many people aren't)... I loved them together, but I believed George 100% when he told her that it absolutely was NOT their chemistry that failed, it was their timing that was off.  Whether romantically with or w/o George, Izzie needs to find herself and get comfortable with herself and find her place next to George again (even if just as BFs again-- for now anyway).  I don't think Izzie "works" w/o George somewhat significantly in the picture.  But anyway, what I'm really needing to see about now are some fabulous make-you-melt MerDer moments!  I hope Shonda has plenty of them in store for us in Season 5!!

Hi hafsa!  I'm doing well-- my summer's going great (w/ the exception of a 3 week monsoon season in the middle-- I was starting to think it was winter, we were stuck inside so long!)  You are very welcome on the info-- I know a bit about international adoption, because my youngest was adopted (I have 3).  What an amazing, rollercoaster process!  As for September, I am hoping that Shonda is going to continue that positive focus that GA got from her post-writer's strike... I'm excited to see where all our favorites will go.  I think this is going to be a great year for Cristina!  My only gripe about season 5 is that the countdown clock says it's still more than 37 days away!!!  Hope it comes up quick!  I'm ready for some more McDreamy moments NOW!  Smile

  9. Season 5 Premier Countdown is on.......

Oh, yes... I am VERY ready for Sept. 25th!  I am READY for:

MerDer TOGETHER!  And all the ups and downs that they will have in figuring out how that works-- to tell you the truth, it could be quite funny!  Funny, and amazingly moving (as all MerDer moments seem to be)... can't you just picture Sloan having to referee or be in the middle of their squabbles from time to time, and you know how funny he and Der are together!  Ah, yes... it's going to be good!

Christina kicking some Cardio A__!  Don't you think she should send Hahn's superior attitude right to where the sun don't shine?  AND prove that she's the cardioqueen mastermind doc that we all know she is?  AND develop that side of Christina that life's lessons have made more real?

George to be George and just keep growing and just being the George we have always loved.  REALLY.  George is GREAT.  Oh, and not with Lexie, please.

Izzie to find some doctor confidence and GROW!  Remember that scene where Izzie told Bailey that she just could not ever and would not ever become that doctor that doesn't care?  Izzie has struggled painfully with that conflict and we've all wanted her to win on that one-- that's what makes Izzie the Izzie we love.  But we need Izzie's struggle with that conflict to find a balance, a resting place and for her to have confidence in being that kind of doctor and then she'll be able to mature and grow to be the Dr. Stevens we know she can be.

Alex to explore that place that he doesn't ever like to go-- but as Alex.  Not Alex with Izzie.  Let's face it, when people are going through these kinds of soul-searching times, they can not successfully do it and be in a relationship at the same time... right?  I mean isn't that why we GA fans have been tortured in the past with MerDer being split apart?  Cuz Mer had to sort through this big stuff on her own?  Let's see Alex do it on his own (but with friend support, of course).  He's gonna need Izzie.   But, please, no couple stuff.  Just friend-love stuff.  Izzie be the strong one here, please!

Miranda-- I'm curious to see what is coming down the pike for Miranda.  We've seen the softer side of Miranda last year, now lets mix it a bit more with the tough-love side we've always loved and adored.  Let her whip them right back into shape, I say.

Sloan- more of his great moments with Derek and a deepening friendship with Der and Mer as well as even more of an awakening to his raw cluelessness in life as we saw in Season 4!

The chief to just keep being the chief.  The big clueless guy, that tunes in now and then and reprises his role as the Dad of them all.  We love the chief.  He's essential.  A glue of sorts.  And a very important parent-figure to Mer.

    What can I say?

    I just CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!

    Smile

    Hi Ladies,

I'm getting pretty happy that September is approaching!  We need to start counting down days, hours, mins and seconds...

I just started browsing a bit... seems there's not a lot of chatting right now.

Hafsa-  I saw your note to Irish and questions about adoption.  I actually know quite a bit about international adoption.  Rules for who can and who can't are regulated differently with each country.  To the best of my knowledge, I have not come across any country's program that would accept a same-gender two-parent family.  But several countries' programs will accept single parents.  So, often gay couples choose a partner who will submit the application as single.   With most countries, the process is quite long and extensive and many countries have very specific parameters that prospective parents have to meet.  I guess if TR and his boyfriend were really going to adopt they would have to be very serious and "in it for the long haul".  But, in the end, only one of them would have that immediate guardianship, at first (I'm sure the other partner could adopt after the initial adoption from the foreign country was completed).  As for the child, and the possibility of the parents splitting?  I would have to say the risk is no greater than a traditional partnership or marriage.  Unfortunately, these days, so many marriages end in divorce.  Also, there are plenty of single parents out there who do raise kids to be great people.  Don't get me wrong, though-- I don't think that's the way to go.  I'm just saying it's possible.  But it's also the hard way to do it, I think.  Anyway, I hope that helps to shed some light.  It could just be that TR and his boyfriend were just what-if-ing and talking about the maybe-some-days.  My experience with talking to adoptive families is that, for most people, it takes quite a long time to come to the decision to adopt-- even the ones that know they want to do it from the get-go.

    Smile
