  1. Whats your opinion on the possible removal of IW?

This is a sick joke right? We are all entitled to our opinions but to try to influence people to vote for a husband and father to lose his source of livelihood has to be a new low. Get a grip please and let he/she who is without sin or faults cast the first stone. This is a matter between 3 people and possibly their employer - let them deal with it. Hello again ladies - it's been a while, not that any of you noticed....Hope you're all ok.

  2. Can we talk about non-Greys stuff?

I have heard that Holiday is great, purplemerder and plan to go and see it too. Yes it is set in England and also stars Jack Black & Jude Law. What is the Good Shepherd about? You mention the CIA so could it be similar to Syriana? I loved Syriana. I plan to rent out Sideways - is that the one you're talking about? I know Sandra Oh is in it. So many movies, so little time, Brianna & ma_aubz so go for it!

Burke Backer I just realised that the "Munich" guy is actually Mads Mikkelson (spelling?)- he plays the baddie in Casino Royale. Daniel Craig is the new Bond.

  4. Sara Ramirez's Dangerous Diet

That is so funny purplemerder, I was never "skinny" in my twenties, probably an American 6 but when I had my daughter 5 years ago - I gained some weight - now an 8 and it's still there! Skinny people rarely get the sympathy curvier girls do and being skinny can be just as tough on the girl - either you're assumed to have an eating disorder or envied for getting into that size 2 outfit - whichever way you cannot win! Our obsession with weight is ridiculous, as long as a person is healthy, eats the right food and gets adequate exercise that is fine. EP talks about the obsession with her weight in most of her interviews and you know what? She is probably dealing with issues similar to SR. People pick on SR because she is curvy, then they turn around and pick on EP - too thin. Make up your minds people - or leave them alone.

  5. a place to talk till January

Lol! Which do you prefer purplemerder - tetley, PG tips or Earl grey? Name your poison and I'll wing it over. I am not too sure you would have coped with life in the 1800's, certainly not after being used to washing machines, indoor loos and womens vote. Why you'd have had to either handwash those "romantic voluminous dresses" - involving 5 water changes, including boiling - or pass them through a "wringer and mangle" (very early washing machines!) Not to mention chamber pots under your bed! If you married you would be almost certain to have at least 5 children not all of whom would have made it past childhood and the chances of dying of "childbirth fever" were high. I enjoy looking back but give me my modern comforts please! Lol. On a serious note I'm sorry to hear you've got a cold, please get well soon. So you're another Little Women fan Burke Backer, cool. I too never got over Laurie marrying Amy. I guess he saw Jo as a sister, heaven knows she was such a tomboy! I have read some wonderful books by early American writers and particularly enjoyed Henry James, Edith Wharton, Poe, Fitzgerald and Hemingway.

  6. Can we talk about non-Greys stuff?

Good morning, you're up early! Any special reason or simply an early riser? It is now 10.36 and I've been up since 7 cooking,cleaning- I'm exhausted already! BB you really should see the Bond movie, it's very good, trust me. While I am not a massive Bond fan the reviews were so good I decided to see for myself and was not disappointed. The reviews for Holiday have been kind too so I will be going to see that as well. Every so often I get nearly a week off from work and with hubby at work, daughter in school I regard those days as blissful "me time" - I watch at least one movie, go sit in a cafe for hours with a good book or curl up on the sofa at home and watch favourite old movies. Heaven. My rental list is growing - Is there a romantic or comedy role IW played that I could add to that list?

  7. a place to talk till January

Well said Burke backer. I actually used to be a member of the abc board but quickly became shocked at how many there set no boundaries at all and felt it was fine to say ugly stuff about all the stars spouses/partners - EP, PD, IW and Justin Chambers - all their significant others got a beating - from how they looked to "what is she/he doing with him/her". It was awful but since not everyone got involved it was easy to identify those who did and avoid getting into conversations with them. The last straw for me was when the PD/IW/TRK incident came up; the sheer vileness of the comments targeted at IW led me to stop going there. He and Cristina did have a tight core of fans on there but I for one could not take it anymore and it is a relief to know there are great boards which celebrate ALL the actors on the show, not villify them. I have always had lots of sympathy for PD's wife; it cannot be easy for her indeed for any of their partners. Reading between the lines of EP's playboy interview, she stresses she does not check out the internet but I sense she (and the others) DO know much of what people say. It is sensible not to get affected but still it must be tough on them. The fact that they are in the entertainment industry and earn pots of money does not remove their rights as human beings.

  8. Burktine, Prestina, BANG!!

Hi bangfan! Your comments regarding Cristinas upbringing and her relationships with her parents were fascinating. I remember once upon a time on the abc boards when I said something similar and another Burktina fan did not agree; in her opinion Cristina did not neccessarily have deep psychological scars but could just have been made that way. I tend to agree partially with that comment - not to say Cristina is incapable of love but she may not follow the conventional paths others do. Maybe it was a personal decision to focus ONLY on career, maybe one of the reasons she has so little respect for her Mum is that she saw her as a pampered wife, whose only role was to minister to her husband and decided that was not for her. Afterall, Meredith clearly received little affection from her parents but is able to love and understand Der, flaws notwithstanding. In the same vein Dr Hahn is as focused and ambitious (more so) than Cristina; are we going to decide that she too had a loveless childhood? And another thing, I for one did not see anything so bad in Cristinas mother, at least she was there and tried to help. At most she might be the irritating "I know whats best for you" kind of Mum but that does not mean she mistreated or even ignored Cristina. And remember how she looked when Burke showed up - she obviously wanted Cristina to have a boyfriend who would treat her well. I believe she cares about her daughter, sure she may have made mistakes but certainly not enough for Cristina to be damaged by them. Maybe Cristina is just...well..Cristina. Guys I hope Burktina do not have a baby anytime soon, while watching Cristina try to adjust will no doubt be funny I want their relationship to get to a more stable place first. And selfish this may sound but I do not want Cristina to sacrifice all those years of hardwork; remember she is only an intern who is still trying to find her way but Bailey is a resident who has proved herself - and it still was not smooth sailing for Bailey. I want Cristina to have it all.

  9. a place to talk till January

rose, as I mentioned a while back I have a passion for history ranging from factual books about the era to fiction - think Jane Austen, the Brontes, Hardy, Dickens, etc. I particularly love the Victorian era partly beacuse it was the age of the great industrial revolution that transformed the fortunes and lives of Britons and we have so many hisotorical accounts carefully recorded to draw from. Another reason is that for the first time we had actual photographs of people depicting their lives, mode of dress, homes - there is this wonderful book called The Victorian house which chronicles the routine, rules and lifestyle of the average middle class home from around 1840 onwards, thoroughly researched and informative. I am also interested in old churches eespecially those built in the Mediaeval era which often have a bloody history. Your home sounds absolutely lovely; I'm sure it will be impossible to move back to the hustle and bustle of the city.

  10. Burktine, Prestina, BANG!!

Gosh I wish I could download this stuff, do you have links? Yep, I would so like to see them get married. Now that would be worth going a month without new episodes. And Kate Walsh is always stunning, please don't make her get involved with Alex - so demeaning for a woman of her calibre - no offense to Alex fans (I like the loveaable rogue too) but he needs to grow up first. He has shown signs of a deeper, more mature persona but I want more evidence that he is capable of dealing with a mature relationship with any woman. Or I might lose all respect for Addison. C'mon woman you should do better, you deserve better.
