I think that the scene at the end with Richard and Meredith is one of the most beautiful I have seen to date between any two characters that were not a couple. It was powerful and so full of emotion. Great writing and great acting. These are the kinds of scenes that keep us clamoring for more! Great job Grey's!
I LOVED the final scene with Mer and the Chief, it was a very powerful scene. So good! The whole episode was excellent and my friend and I could not believe that an hour had passed when it was over.
Come on Izzie, fight this!!! I hope they don't kill her and I am so excited for the next episodes!
Because it is a competing network, and they don't want to risk her taking a recurring role and leaving their show or something lame like that. There was a similar thing with some former Scrubs characters that were supposed to come back. Competition between the networks is tight I guess...
Maybe Mer's suspension will give Ellen Pompeo time off to have her baby and rest up a little after the finale wedding? It looks as though Ellen is well into or near the end of her second trimester, so she could have the baby over the summer, and they might already be filming by then, and that would maybe explain her absence? It would kind of suck though because I think it would be awful for Derek to come back from the wedding/honeymoon without Meredith....That's all assuming we actually get a Mer/Der wedding by the end of this season!
You know, I really think it would be cute to have a Mer/Der baby, but I think the comments made by "someone" above are right on. I have 3 kids, and as wonderful as it is to be a parent, it REALLY changes your life, and it would change the dynamics of Grey's entirely. But, since it is tv, they could do want they want with it and not hit on all the realities of parenthood...
@Janis - yes, it kind of bugs me when they use the same characters for both Grey's and PP without preserving the character because Addie and all the PP people are the same when they crossover, and it is the same "world", time, etc. I had written that before and then kind of took out most of what I said because I thought I must be overly nit-picky, but I am glad someone else is too! And, unless Sylvie is Owen's mom, I think you will be disappointed in Debra Mooney's role on Grey's....
Yep, actually it is, I looked it up on IMDB after finding a link saying that she was playing the Mom this week. Her name is Nina Siemaszko, and she played Kathleen (the girl with the broken..well you know what was broken...that Addison fixes in "In which Addison finds the Magic" and then also in "In Which Dell Finds his fight" They have used quite a few of the same guest stars between the shows. I just knew she looked familiar to me. Should be another great episode this week!
Isn't the actress who plays the mom of the little girl who shoots her dad the same one who played in Private Practice as the newlywed who couldn't have sex because it hurts to much for her?
I bet Meredith will refuse to accept his apology at first, but I think she will end up giving him another chance (although I hope not, I don't like Thatcher's character and hope that one day Meredith finds out that Richard is really her dad!). Derek will probably tell her she needs to give him another chance. Lexie will take him back into her life for sure. She is Lexie...Mer does look pissed in this shot though!
atheart282 - I think my favorite part of the whole episode was Sam's (Taye Diggs) comment about Lisa (Taye Digg's real life wife Idina Menzel). I had to pause the show to explain to my husband why I was laughing so much at that.
Also, I know Kevin can't come back , but I really liked him with Addison. She needs someone who makes her a good person, not someone who makes her cross REALLY BIG lines.
Paddisonluvr - Yes, I kind of find it weird that they use the same guest stars between Grey's and PP. I mean, after all, they are supposed to be the same world, right? I mean Addison left Seattle Grace and is still Addison, but these guest stars are different people when they bounce between Seattle and California. Oh well, it is all tv magic anyhow, right?!
There was another sister talked about though. Could be her. Could be a relative of Izzie too. Could be anyone really, you never know what curve Shonda is going to throw us! That's why we love it so much!
