Loved the proposal. But the perspective of knowing the way the season ends made the rest of the epi very sad for me. I was angry and sad the first time around about none of them getting to Izzie b/f her surgery... this time it just broke my heart. The scene w/ Callie and George still really moved me... I could watch it a million times. And I loved Mer & Alex's scene together even more than before, I think. But it's all clouded... and the image of a severely injured George lingers in my head and the idea that Izzie will wake up and learn that he is gone... her person is gone... can't get past it.
The ups were Mer. How Mer has really grown. How strong she is. And Der.. how he loves her so. And the elevator proposal. That was perfect.
Why not a ferry boat wedding? Small, simple, very MerDer.
But for me... it made me cry. I think I just cried for 2 hours straight! Certainly not the norm for me. But watching it with knowing how things end gives a different perspective. And I loved the George/Alex scenes a ton the first time around, but now they've become sacred. Treasured last moments, if you will. Gah, I always loved those two and their crazy dynamic.
Of course, aside from feeling devastated for Izzie and mourning for George there was the scenes with Bailey and that little girl... seriously had me bawling. I'm a mom and can't take that! Heartbreaking and beautiful.

I've been holding back on commenting on this b/c I was hoping that TPTB would respond to this rumor, but since they haven't... I guess that it a good indication that it may be, in fact, true.
If this rumor is true I have one question for Shonda:
Why does it have to be graphic? Why do we have to see his organs harvested? It's our George! We love him. Hospitals and doctors do not force an organ donor patient's family to watch their organs harvested in the OR... there is a obvious reason for that. They loved that person. And we loved George.
If this is going to be graphic, I will find that UNACCEPTABLE.
I really truly agree with what TR said in this EW cover story... the final image of George in army dress, outside the elevator, looking at Izzie... that final image showing him as a hero and showing his undeniable connection with Izzie... that was the perfect final image of George O'Malley. I wouldn't even want to go back and see Shonda's flashback episode.
If George O'Malley must come to an end, then that final image is how he should go, IMO.
And, for the record, I will cry buckets in the season opening with the funeral and all. I will miss George O'Malley so much. My favorite character.
But I also fully support TR in his decision to leave and continue to wish him all the best.

I, too am proud of him for speaking out... for continuing to be so respectful, even when speaking out about leaving and issues of such personal nature. Even in telling the truth and being honest, he is not badmouthing anyone, not even Shonda. He is taking responsibility in the situation as well. And he is moving forward, moving on. I'm proud of him... and relieved to hear the truth that many have speculated on for a long, long time.
George O'Malley will not be forgotten. We loved him so.
And TR Knight will go great places... and shine they way we know he can.
