  1. Isaiah Washington Will Not Be Returning to Grey's Anatomy

Hafsa, since you are a Mer/Der fan, I do not doubt that you think we should all just get over it and watch your couple. The fact is, I started watching to begin with because I heard Isaiah Washington was going to be on it. I started to love it because of the Burke and Cristina storyline. I became a faithful follower because of the development of their relatioship. I won't get used to it and neither will many of the people who have invested three years in this relationship. It was a dumb and unnecessary move. If they wanted to do something constructive they could have set TR Knight down with Isaiah and had them talk out their differences with both men growing from the process. Instead they have destroyed one man's career and supported the other's whiney victim act. I don't think it is going to be a good fourth season, but whether it is or not, I will not be watching. I do wish you luck with your couple, though, and agree that they need to stop Gizzie and let Lexie be a love interest for Alex. Alexie anyone?? Meredith and Derek need some lighter storylines and happier times before the just become completely boring and morose.
  2. Isaiah Washington: Truly Angry, Contemplating Lawsuit

Right now ABC is spreading rumors to justify their action. I wouldn't put too much stock into any of their statements at the moment.
  3. Isaiah Washington: Truly Angry, Contemplating Lawsuit

Sarah, were you there? Do you know that even Patrick Dempsey has said that there were absolutely no punches thrown that it did not escalate beyond a verbal altercation? People are crucifying this guy based on speculation, rumor and innuendo. I admire Patrick Dempsey for coming out in support of Isaiah. He has on more than one occasion praised him as an actor and a castmate who takes the role seriously and is intense and passionate about his work.

  5. Isaiah Washington: Truly Angry, Contemplating Lawsuit

I completely agree with Vicky. Isaiah made a lame comment and apologized for it. I don't understand why that wasn't enough way back in October. Instead TR decided his feelings were hurt and he was going to make Isaiah pay, and he has. Isaiah didn't call TR a slur on either occasion. TR overheard Isaiah use that word in reference to him. That is not the same thing as getting in his face and calling him a name. That is what he was trying to say at the Golden Globes. He certainly was not calling TR a slur when he responded to Ted Casablanca's direct question about the supposed slur. This is a word in our lexicon. He is not the first nor will he be the last to use it. It was called a slang word until we began to lose our freedom of speech in the name of political correctness. The media has twisted this around and made him out to be a villain when in fact he was the victim of TR's vendetta. After overhearing Isaiah use this word, TR went to the media and outed himself blaming it on his costar. TR went on Ellen and appealed to the pro gay audience and community for sympathy. After 8 months and both public and private apologies, TR let the Advocate believe that Isaiah had never apologized to him. I guess they were all lying on Oprah, Patrick Dempsey, James Pickens, Jr., TR, and Isaiah when they said James Pickens set them all down and they apologized and got back to work. Isaiah unintentionally hurt TR's feelings by referring to him by a slang expression for gay, now referred to as a slur. TR purposefully and with premeditation set out to destroy Isaiah's career and get him fired from the show. Who is the victim here? I find TR repulsive, not because of his sexual orientation, but because of his sanctimonious, self-righteous, "poor me" behavior. I will not miss him when I follow Isaiah to whatever new project he selects to undertake. According to "Denny" he is fielding offers from every other network. My only regret is that I won't get to see him play opposite Sandra Oh. They were magical together, and John, to each their own. Over a thousand fans on Bangsanatomy.com watched for Burke and Cristina. Many, many more watched for Meredith and Derek. The George and Izzie supporters are in the minority, in fact if you read the abc writer's blog, the fast majority found the relationship disgusting. They are all good actors. Isaiah is a brilliant actor whose understated performance was the perfect compliment to the quirky Sandra Oh. I loved them together and watched primarily for them. Justin Chambers, James Pickens, Jr., Chandra Wilson, and Patrick Dempsey have all stated that Isaiah was great in this show. Even Katherine Heigl, acknowledged his contribution to the success of the show. Don't downplay the importance of this character to the overall success of Grey's Anatomy.
  6. Isaiah Washington: Truly Angry, Contemplating Lawsuit

You can't see into his heart hot4dempsey, although you have claimed to for quite some time. The people at GLAAD seemed to think he was sincere. They actually talked with him and he worked with them even contributing to the writing of the PSA. He did everything asked of him to save his job, as would you, but that does not mean that he wasn't sincere and didn't really try to make amends. I am so angry and disappointed in abc that they would treat him in this way. They used him to keep their ratings up through the rest of the season and then let him go. I will not support GA, ABC, or their sponsors after the complete and flagrant disreguard for this fine actor and good human being that they have shown who made a mistake, learned from it, and hopefully will go on to better things. TR certainly got his revenge. Hopefully everyone else on the cast will learn not to cross him. He has friends in media places.
  7. College Viewers, New Rating System Boost Grey's Anatomy Numbers

Well, I meant to say I am confused as to why the would NOT look at overall viewing audience rather than just 18-49.
  8. College Viewers, New Rating System Boost Grey's Anatomy Numbers

This is all confusing to me. Why do advertisers care more about the 18-49 demographic? The baby boomers are in their 50s and I would imagine most are still working and buying products. I would think that would be a pretty important demographic, too. We also have a lot of younger fans of Greys in the 13-17 age range. I am confused as to why they would look at overall viewing audience and not focus so much on the 18-49 age range.
  9. Thursday's Episode: "My Favorite Mistake"

What episode was on this past week? I thought it was 19. I read on abcmedianet.com that there would be 25 episodes and that the spin off would be 23 and 24, so that would leave four episodes other than the spin off double episodes for the wedding, right? Or was this last week episode 20? I lose track.
  10. Katherine Heigl Earns Co-Stars' Praise

I agree about Kate Walsh. She is pretty classy and I am also a little concerned about her spin off. I will miss her on GA. I also loved that Sara Ramirez said that they were all very professional, not just Katherine, but all of them. I don't quite understand Heigl's embarrassment about the whole contract dispute being public since it was her people who first went to the press about it. ABC was responding to her previous complaints and the report by her management team that she had broken negotiations because she didn't think they were offering her enough money. I'm not a fan, but agree with those who say Izzie is an integral part of the overall chemistry of the show and that every character is necessary. I hope she is able to come to a happy conclusion to her negotiations.
  11. Round Table: Some Kind of Miracle

I personally think Addison will have more trouble sticking to the moratorium on sex than Mark.

Both Dylan and Denny should stay dead. How can Izzie move on if Shonda doesn't? Dylan was there for such a short time we didn't even get to know his character. He is defnitely cute, but come on, two episodes and minimal screen time. It is time to let him stay in the afterlife in peace. Denny was a cutie but he is dead. Move on. There are enough live characters not ot have to give up screen time to the dead ones.

I have to say Callie should remain in George's life longer. He married her. He has made a commitment to her. Izzie is a friend. She needs to remain as a friend and be supportive to George.

Of course Bailey will be Chief Resident, whatever that is. If her competition is Sydney she is a shoe in.

No, I never for a minute thought they would kill off Meredith. I was more worried about who the second death would be and was relieved to know that we were all right from the very beginning. It was Ellis whose mind was already dead and who was not as important to the majority of us as any of the original cast members.
  12. A Second Death to Come Thursday?

Well Shell, we were all right to begin with. Ellis was the logical one to die and in fact she did. I am thrilled that Burke is alive and well and that Cristiina confirmed they are getting married. Hooray! They can do their hiatus now if they want. At least we all of the primary characters will be there when they get back after March madness.
  13. T.R. Knight Confirms Slur Was Made, Resulted in His Coming Out

It is hard to respond to the last two posters. It is never all right to use derrogatory terms directed at anyone else for the purpose of being hurtful. I don't like the use of derrogatory terms at all. But I have to admit I have been called some from time to time and you know what it really didn't hurt me. People have to be strong enough in who they are and proud of what they are so that someone else's slur doesn't impact them. I don't think anyone is saying that calling someone a slur is okay. To me there is a difference in each man's interpretation of what happened. Headlines like the one on this website that says "TR CONFIRMS GAY SLUR" is making an assumption that TR's version of the altercation is the correct one. Confirms is a loaded word. It implies that he is telling the truth. In fact, TR overheard something. He believes Isaiah referred to him as the f-word. Even he did not say Isaiah called him the f-word. I am disaapointed in TR for not just confronting Isaiah about it at least to be sure that he heard correctly before making his public statements. I am also disappointed that the head lines don't say TR has a different version of what happened rather thatn TR confirms slur. Too many hurtful assumptions are being made.
  14. Should Isaiah Washington Be Fired?

Well, J.Merk, perhaps he can't understand at this age that he is a bigot because he isn't one. It was an incident of name calling. Not even name calling because he didn't call anyone the name. He used the word but not directed at anyone. It does not warrant firing. If anyone should be fired it should be TR Knight for bringing all of this controversy on the show by publicly outing himself and blamiing it on his castmate. Who in the world are you to presume that you have any knowledge at all of what is in this man's hear let alone his soul. Show me a pattern of bigotry. Show me other instances when Isaiah showed any kind of contempt for the gay community. Show me some evidence before you get on your high horse and make such outrageous statements about another human being. Of course Grey's Anatomy and ABC should not fire Isaiah. You make absolutely no sense. In one sentence you say rehab is silly and in thenext you say take ownership, go to counseling. That is exactly what he has done. Tell me do you even watch the show? Are you a fan at all? Or do you just have a gay agenda to promote regardless of who you hurt in the process.
  15. Isaiah Washington Apologizes, Admits Conduct Unacceptable, Will Seek Help

I agree, Amy, we should stand up for what we believe. I believe Isaiah made a mistake in the heat of an argument. I believe it was not intended to harm anyone. I believe TR chose to feel wounded and to let the word he overheard have too much power. I believe he went to the press for his own publicity. I believe Isaiah used bad judgment at the GGs when he denied calling TR the word and in so doing used the word. I believe TR was a whiney cry baby in going to Ellen to call his castmate a liar. I believe both parties have been wounded. I believe both parties need to work it out. I believe both actors should remain on the show. I will express my beliefs in whatever way I choose and fully respect the right for others to express theirs. That does not mean that I will not respond to their beliefs and try to pursuade them to see the other side. This is not disrespect, this is not forcing my views on someone else. It is simply presenting another side for consideration.

I certainly hope you are not equating an incident of name calling with rape. Isaiah did not break the law. He did not cause physical harm to anyone. TR did not need the protection of the police or KH for that matter. This was a misunderstanding between two adult men with not acts of violence involved. They should have handled it privately themselves.
  16. Washington to Return to Set This Week

SeanK, do you realize by your definition you just called Isaiah the n-word. If by saying the word in the same sentence with someone you are calling the person that word, you have just uttered a racial slur. If this had been Patrick Dempsey calling TR the f-word would the n-word even enter your mind? They are not parallel. The n-word has been uttered far more times that you can count and with no reprecussions. Save the sanctimony for a worthier cause.
  17. Washington to Return to Set This Week

Hey Babs, Who could we really live without? Any of them, probably, but I would miss Isaiah far more than any of the others. If Isaiah, Sandra, Ellen, and Derek were the only ones on the show, I would watch. I also love Alex and I am liking Addison more all of the time. I could easily live without George or Izzie. So I guess in spite of your bolded letters it is still a matter of personal opinion. I would not want to have any of the original cast leave the show, but I would stop watching without Isaiah. I am glad that TR has garnered so much sympathy for himself. The entire incident has given him more visibility and name recognition as an actor than ever before. He should be sending Isaiah roses instead of calling him a liar on Ellen. There are two men here who saw the incident differently. You are chosing to believe TR Knight. version of what he thought he overheard and I am chosing to believe Isaiah's version of what he thought he said. Neither of us know for sure what happened on the set or what was said. All I know is that TR has benefited from this and Isaiah has been victimized. Hmmm. I wonder which one is being more honest.
  18. Go On. Ask Katherine Heigl Anything!

On national television Isaiah Washington denied ever calling TR Knight the F word. He never said he did not say the word only that he did not call TR the word. Marlene in Louisiana, it is important to get the facts straight when you are condemning someone. I have both Black and gay friends as well and all seem to think the entire incident was blown out of proportion and so do I. It was like a school yard argument with TR running home to mommy except mommy for him was the Hollywood press and Ellen. I completely agree with Didi. Jumping on the bandwagon did not make KH look classy or like a hero. Quiet support of her friend behind the scenes would have been more heroic.
  19. More on the Return of Denny Duquette

I love merder, too, purplemerder, and don't want any of the main characters to die. That is what I am trying to say. I don't think they could possibly kill off Meredith. If she dies, it will be only until she is revived and I think that will happen in the miracle episode, the third part in the series. Meredith is my third favorite character on the show after only Burke and Cristina. I never want anything to happen to her. I agree with the person who said she is the thread between the characters and I think she holds the whole tapestry together. It would all fray without her. The merder fans went through a whole season of drama and it was gut wrenching at tiimes but every week there were reasons to believe that Meredith and Derek belonged together and never any question of one or the other being killed of or leaving the show. Burke and Cristina fans have gone through this whole season until two weeks ago without really knowing if they would survive the hand tremor thing. They are just now kind of back together. We certainly don't want to lose either of them now. I just hope that if not this Thursday, after next Thursday we know that all are safe with Derek and Meredith and Burke and Cristina still together. A double wedding would be nice.
  20. Should Isaiah Washington Be Fired?

Shonda cast all of the characters on Greys without giving thought to race. She did it based on the best audition for each part. Isaiah was the best and still is. No one can replace him in the role of Burke and no one should have to. He did not call TR a faggot. Did he use this term in the heat of an argument with someone else? Possibly. Does that warrant dismissal? No. In every situation where it is a matter of a verbal dispute you have to consider the context and the intent when passing judgment. Isaiah did not set out to offend TR. This was a poor choice of words uttered in the heat of an argument at a time when emotions were running high and everyone was overworked, tired, and running on empty. This action does not warrant firing.
  21. Should Isaiah Washington Be Fired?

I do see Isaiah as the victim here. He is the one being condemned, not TR. One would think he was Jack the Ripper for using a term that was at one time used pretty consistently as a slang word for gay. Everyone has jumped to support and defend Knight. TR was not forced to do anything. He chose to publicly discuss his sexual preference. Isaiah didn't force him to do that. As for the history of violence, are you referring to the two people who came out of the woodwork with stories never before told or shared until the argument last October? Two people who saw an opportunity and sold their stories to the tabloids to make a buck at Isaiah's expense? Who is the victim? It is good advice to consider the source when reading something printed in a tabloid. It is not a reputable source for the truth. I'm not saying Isaiah was right in everything that he did. I am saying he is not nearly as bad as people are making him out to be.
  22. Cast Pics From People's Choice Awards

Thanks, Purplemerder. I've seen the pictures. There are some great ones of Isaiah. Haven't seen the Ellen show yet, but I did watch the important clips from the People's Choice. Thanks so much. You are always looking out for me. I really appreciate it. Tomorrow night is the Golden Globes. I am so happy that I have the day off for Martin Luther King's birthday and will definitely not miss a thing.
  23. Washington & Wilson: A Sharp Image

Isaiah is 6'1". He always appears taller to me, too, because he is taller than the other men on Grey's . I think Eric Dane is 6', so they are pretty close to the same height.
  24. Tonight: The Long-Awaited "Six Days"

Hi Purplemerder. I was frankly just happy they are both on the show and if it takes a little time for them to decide who needs to apologize to whom, I can wait. They are still together, just silent.
  25. A Special Golden Globes Preview

Oh funny. I think of Ellen and Katherine as their real names and Sandra Oh is Cristina to me. Ah well. You knew what I meant, right?
