Exactly. A lot of people were referring to Teddy as the new Rose but she has the Addison factor to it, you root for her because she's an actual genuine person that isn't evil or has mean intentions, just wrong timing by showing up.
I really hope she stays too. I could end up liking her a lot like I ended up liking Addison.
ana,
It's sort of implied that Meredith is a changed person now (hence the happy, married comments). That being said, remember Derek is a holiday buff. This dinner may have been his idea and Mer went along with him, as wives do sometimes. KV tweeted about an edited scene where Derek and Meredith are having the cooking conversation and Mer's all freaked out. Maybe it'll be on DVD.
Alex's disappearance was cleared in the Writer's Blog. It said that Alex, knowing that Izzie was the holiday fanatic, may not feel up to celebrating the holidays this time. Who can blame him?
Don't say anything about the Mercy Westers! At least they weren't there! I can live with Jackson but really good that neither Nose Dive or Reed were there.
About O/C, again, maybe it's implied that he still does. They can't show us everything.
This episode was setting up the SL for next year, hence the mess system of the episode, but it isn't as bad as people make it to be. We had HUGE expectations for holiday episodes, especially after the ones of S2. It's hard to live up to that.
Sorry for the double post. As far as it's known only Addie is going to GA and Mark to PP. Maybe, MAYBE, Callie will go with Mark to LA but doubt it.
Also, excellent point on Lexie forgiving Mark since her own father did the same thing. Although, I don't think that Addie's abortion is going to be such a huge problem for Derek/Mark since at the end, Mark was the one hurt by it. If anything, maybe Derek will see Mark in a softer light by knowing how screwed he got by Addison as much as Derek did.
You're not alone. I liked it too. I realize it isn't GA's best episode but I liked it.
Amber,
If my math is correct, Mark and Derek are supposed to be 41 this season. I am aware of Derek's statement that Mark wasn't 18 anymore but I believe that it refers to his 'emotional' age rather then his physical age.
Also, in PP, Addie said she's 39 (again) but she said that in S3 and from S3 to S6, two years have passed by.
This has to go as one of my favorite PP episodes ever. I loved it.
Addie and her father? Talk about dysfunctional family. The restaurant convo was heartbreaking, especially hearing Addison admit that her marriage ended up for the same example that her father set up for her. So many levels of psychology there that I can't count! I wish that the episode had dedicated a little more on them. It was so good.
I loved the Cooper story. It's about time that he and Charlotte got into a real fight but I couldn't help to feel for Charlotte.
I hate Dell. I'm sorry but to me, he's the Izzie of PP: judgmental, optimist, and naive. What he told Violet and Naomi? Uncalled for. They just wanted to help.
Two weeks for PP...and it looks GOOD. SR and BB said in the podcast that these episodes will explain why Addison cheated on Derek and why she is who she is. Excited to meet Bizzy!
I didn't love the episode but it has been a good one. I love all of KV's writing and this is no exception.
Too much for one hour? Yes. I'd love to see the holidays separated into episodes or at least make it two hours or focus on ONE holiday (I'd prefer NY, it's my favorite holiday). It seems that the writer's are setting up the SLs for next year.
I thought Bailey's breakdown was great. It was about time that she had a fallout. She even put her dad in her place. Way to go Bailey!
I was a little out on the Riley/Mark thing. I'd thought there be some kind of confrontation of any type (like the one that they had at the end) but nothing. I loved his conversations with Derek. Why can't we have more of those two together? Also, I'm seeing Lexie bailing out.
Also a way to go to Derek and Arizona (and Mark after being pushed by Derek) for giving up their money to fix a patient.
I like Owen and Cristina together but I can't help to root for Teddy. She's becoming Addison.
As for the Chief...I spend weeks hating the man and now, I can't do anymore but to feel sorry. I think that he's using Meredith to cover his back in case Derek finds out. Richard will have Mer on his side and she is Derek's weakness.
I'm not sure if that is wise or cruel. I think it's evil to use Ellis to compliment Mer (in the bigger picture). For once, I sided with Thatcher on this one.
Interesting episode though. I'll wait to have more judgment after KV's writing blog.
I'm really excited for this episode. It looks to be classic GA.
smoker,
Kinda disagree there with you. It's not easy, not easy at all. It's a consequence. It'd be easy if it turn out not to be his daughter. As much as I adore manwhore Mark, there is a point where he has to be an adult and this is a great SL to turn it that way.
I'm pretty sure that this SL is going to show us more of who he is and what he used to be, especially when Riley's mom turn out and Mrs. Shepherd along with Sloan's parents come to Seattle to see this mess.
I understand that she'd like to stay with Mark for a while.
If I'm not wrong, LR is about 7/8 years younger than CL. On the show, Riley is supposed to be 18 and Lexie 24. I think that Lexie still has to live a little before settling down with Mark.
Adorable MerDer. Looks like a decent holiday is in store for them.
I honestly think that Mer is unconsciously using the Chief to teach her since she's not getting surgeries. Dead mommy connections. Maybe he thinks that Derek might have told her that he has an alcohol problem and he's trying to cover his back since she caught him drinking (or at least something was off) by blackmailing with teaching? Could be interesting.
I am starting to believe that the O/C traingle is between Owen, Cristina and Cardio, not Teddy.
I really really don't believe that MerDer will break up. It'd be old but I understand the need to push a little drama for them. It's a drama after all. It's going to be interesting to see how they deal with this differently than the usual. Last season, Mer stuck through Der's tough times. I'm kinda excited about it.
No offense Silverorises, but KH's disappearance hardly has to do anything to the ratings. If you have paid attention to other shows in their 6th season, they are considerably down from S1. It's an aging show. Do some research.
It's really up to you, but this show shifted from being Meredith's story to an ensemble story. It's transition. It's change. It happens and it can be good. Hardly there is a show that manages to stick to the original formula and work for as long as GA has been in the air (so far, only Friends, at my judgment, has). ER made transition when George Clooney left and it wasn't sacrifice because it lasted 10 more seasons.
In my eyes, the episodes that have been lacking of Izzie, have been great. No more whiny judging from her. She is now the weak link for the Fab 4.
I knew the minute that I saw KH being in GA, that she wouldn't be there long. I just wish that she would make a decision so that Alex's storyline can move on.
Also, the fab 5 started out as interns (already graduated from Med School), not med students.
Arizona and Teddy? I think Arizona was just being nice and polite. Also, when Teddy set Cris straight was a glorious moment for Arizona, since I think she's still upset about Cris dishonesty on Peds.
one,
Everyone is entitled to their opinions about KH/Izzie. I dislike both and to be honest, the show has been great without her but that is me. I wouldn't be devastated if she left. I only tolerate her for Alex's sake.
I think it'd be too easy if she wasn't his daughter. Easy way out. Hard would have been Mark dealing with the fact he's a dad and future grandpa.
Dasha,
The crossover was last season, when Derek removed parasites from Archer's (Addie's brother) brain in SGH. Naomi and Sam went with her.
Supposedly, the next crossover is this season when Mark's 'daughter' finds out she's pregnant and needs Addison's services. Then she needs more surgery or something like that and they end up returning to LA.
PP is pretty good these days. Much better than the first season and some of the second. It's like GA but grown up.
FINALLY. I love their five second moments but this is what makes MerDer great, the ability to move forward and stop being in the vicious circle. Love it.
Mmm...I think that by work related almost confirms that Mer isn't going to make her interest in Neuro. Or that Derek will be Chief while the Chief gets some help...
Good episode. Kinda eh but the final 15 minutes were great. I really didn't think the woman was going to die. I felt so sad for Addison.
Also...Addie and Sam? Originally Sam wanted to date Addie but Derek got to her first? I like the idea of them together (not as much as Bailey/Sam). Also, the ending? "You're not Naomi" "You're not Derek", I can understand Sam since he still lives and sees Naomi on a regular basis but can't Addie fully let Derek go now? It makes me sad for her.
I also thought very similar situation with the groom and bride. I love Charlotte. She may be my favorite PP character.
I kinda enjoyed the Pete/Sheldon scenes. Funny stuff.
I like Teddy. She's perky and competitive and nice! I like her a lot. I loved that she DOES want to teach Cristina.
I was kinda ready to slap Cristina until the last moment. She came around. All she really needed is a cardio-god. She got that.
Izzie? Eh. I'm kinda ready for her discharge. Her comeback didn't really do anything for me but poor Alex. Izzie broke him. She really did. The last scene with Mer was...hard. Poor guy.
I want five seconds with Derek! Possible? Cutest thing EVER. Poor Mer, not getting surgeries. Maybe Derek should use the favorite card and give her some?
I was all LOL with Adele coming out on the affair stuff. She has her reasons, but Bailey? Of all of them. I really felt for the Chief in that last scene. This is going to get good.
Mark is SGH/MW Gossip Girl!!!! I LOVE HIM! And Callie. Hilarious.
I think Bailey is still grieving George in a Bailey kind of way, not being able to say anything, otherwise, instead of Arizona, it'd be her the one to tell the Chief off during Derek's surgery.
I had the feeling that when JPJ said that the Chief was going to do some soul searching (the exact same words that PD used for Derek's drunk pity party) that he'd hit the bottle soon. I have to admit that it makes me excited to see the Chief hit rock bottom and come out of it. I think Derek will be his helping hand and that he's going to be Chief temporarily until Richard gets back on track.
About KH,
Surprise surprise. I really think that she's on the path out of GA. Too many leaves.
I can't say that it's unreasonable or unfair that she takes this time. Obviously she has a legal right to it but I can't help to feel that other actors in the show that have become parents (EP, PD, and CW) are more committed to the show since they have not missed on any episode or have taken time off for anything, including parenthood and it doesn't mean they aren't good parents.
Also, maybe KH hasn't said the words: I don't want to be in GA anymore, but her actions say so.

anna,
REALLY doubt that Cris is going to end up pregnant. They already used that SL for her in S1/2, so it'd be a recycled SL for her.
I never found the Denny/Cancer SL dramatic but to a point, pathetic. I blame the way it was handled. Too much, too slow, too invasive.
Shonda Rhimes: Great Grey's Anatomy Stuff Ahead!
