That's how we always felt about Preston Burke, a brilliant heart surgeon and a kind, compassionate person. The consummate professional, and a great cook to boot. What's not to love about Dr. Burke?
Preston grew up in Alabama, where his mother owns a restaurant. He is the chief cardio-thorasic surgeon at Seattle Grace, and was long known for his grace under pressure as well as his incredible scalpel skills. Seriously, you cannot rattle the guy in the operating room or in real life.
Cristina Yang has tried during her romance with the handsome physician, which began during Season One, and which he initially broke off because of concern for his reputation.
The polar opposites then back together, however, and Cristina moved into his apartment. The evolution of their relationship despite their differences was a focal point of Grey's Anatomy for much of its second and third seasons. Preston also warmed up to Derek Shepherd, despite initial friction between the two.At the end of the second season, Preston was shot, leading to an injury that caused a tremor in his hand.
While he was healed as far as the doctors could tell, he felt pressure to return to work before he was ready. Cristina helped conceal his hand tremor, a conspiracy that ultimately boiled over and cost Burke the chance to take over for Richard Webber as Chief of Surgery.
Burke and Cristina got engaged halfway through Season Three, but at the end of the season, he left her at the altar after determining, once and for all, that she did not want to go through with it or be the person he wanted her to be. Preston has left Seattle Grace, never to return.

You can not erase Preston Burke from the script, you just can not!!! He was the main character in Grey's Anatomy. If Callie Torres or Erica Hahn were erased there was not going to be a problem!I don't know what was your goal but i must say that you are not on the right track.

Gosh...so disappointed that I won't be able to see Dr. Burke after season 3....The most loved characters are Dr. Bailey, Dr. Burke and Dr. Yang. Their characters are too magnificent and elegantly written and they play their roles well - a class A. And Dr Burke is so regal to watch. I love him and it's a shame you have to write him out. He was part of the series that made it famous and so are the other casts. So disappointed....

Oh no I cannot believe that Burke is gone from GA, I absolutely loved watching his big hearted, highly intelligent and sophisticated character. Why???????????????????????? Hugely dissapointed, please bring him back, he is so hot as well!!

My favorite character in this series was Preston burke even more than Meredith. Is a real shame that such good talent isn't appreciated. I loved all the drama about Preston Burke i hope they reconsider and bring him back.

You should get Burke back on the show! He's the one beloved character that obviously kept the show interesting! Seriously!!!

Get rid of the army dude and bring back Burke! He was the best Grey's hottie. I loved him and Christina together.

Just got into watching Grey's Anatomy and cannot believe they allowed / fired such a great member of the cast! If they want their ratings to go up they should bring back Burke.

No Dr. Burke no Grey's Anatomy. Thats how its going to be because Dr. Burke was the most loved character on the show
