Grey's Anatomy Spoilers (Page 22)

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Izzie and Denny, Callie and ...

Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly has some interesting Grey's Anatomy spoilers in his Q&A today, and even a direct quote from Shonda Rhimes about the Izzie-Denny story line.

Read on and follow the jump for the latest on what's to come ...

Q: What the hell is going on with Grey's Anatomy's Denny and Izzie?

A: Don't be so quick to judge, people. Who among us hasn't gone to first base with a dead ex at least once in our lives? Exactly.

More Isobel

Q: Okay, I'm officially worried that Izzie really does have a brain tumor and Shonda Rhimes is paving the way for Katherine Heigl's departure at the end of the season.

A: Hold on ... I've got Shonda Rhimes on the line ... She says she heard through the grapevine that I've been flooded with hundreds of e-mails from mostly irate and confused Grey's Anatomy fans wondering WTF is going on with this bizarre love story between a dead Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and an alive Izzie ... The show's creator and executive producer says she'd like to address readers directly via this exclusive statement ...

Jeffrey Dean Morgan to Appear on at Least Five Episodes

When we first reported the news that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be back on Grey's Anatomy this November, we assumed it was just for another fleeting cameo.

Now it's looking like the handsome actor who plays the late Denny Duquette, Jr., could be sticking around for the foreseeable future - and may well turn out to be the "surprising" love interest for Izzie that Shonda Rhimes promised in the offseason.

How long will Denny haunt Izzie and where the heck is this even going?

Morgan, JD

As for the first part, Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly says Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be in at least five episodes of Grey's Anatomy. Whether that's five from the start of his recent stint or five more as of now is unclear - but he's not going anywhere.

As far as where the story is headed, the most logical theory is that Shonda Rhimes is indeed giving Izzie a brain tumor, as was rumored months ago, and which would or could grant Katherine Heigl's (never publicly stated) wish to make movies full time.

But who says this story has to be logical, right? As Grey's Anatomy writer Stacy McKee opined on the show's writers blog after "These Ties That Bind":

"Maybe this is one connection that gets to defy all... common sense. Maybe it just gets to be. Even if it does seem too good to be true."

Is Sara Ramirez Leaving Grey's Anatomy?

There has been a lot of speculation in the last couple of weeks that Sara Ramirez (Dr. Callie Torres) will be leaving the cast of Grey's Anatomy later this season.

We have not reported these rumors to you so far because they are only that - speculation. But given the sheer amount of attention they're generating, we're going to now. Nothing you read below is confirmed, but some of the rumors and theories are:

  • That Sara Ramirez will be departing Grey's Anatomy after episode 15 or 16. This past week's episode, "These Ties That Bind," was the eighth of Season 5.
  • That Brooke Smith is not the only one being let go from the show, and given her relationship with Smith's character, Erica Hahn, Sara Ramirez is next.
  • That Sara might be headed back to Broadway, where she was a star.
  • That Melissa George's character Sadie was brought in (or possibly re-written after Smith's departure) for Eric Dane's character, Mark Sloan, because the ABC executives wanted a different, fairly big-name actress for his love interest.

Again, this is pure conjecture and nothing more. But What do you think of these Grey's Anatomy rumors - and have you heard any others? Share with us ...

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers, News & Notes

A couple of Grey's Anatomy spoilers from EW and TV Guide this morning ...

Q: Any Grey's Anatomy scoop?

A: Brooke Smith wasn't the only Seattle Grace staffer expunged under suspicious circumstances in the past year. Two other familiar, albeit lower profile, faces were given the boot, and I'm shocked eagle-eyed Grey's fans haven't picked up on it yet.

[INSIDER NOTE: Who was it? Does anyone know?]

Q: I'm dying for Christina and Owen to get together on Grey's Anatomy.

A: Well, this is certainly a positive step in that direction: Kevin McKidd has been promoted to a series regular.

A Smiling MeredithHe

Q: After watching the promo for the next episode of Grey's Anatomy, I must ask: Is there anything for Mer-Der fans to look forward to? You know, other than three women lying in Meredith's bed while Derek lives downstairs?

A: Well when you phrase it like that, you make me think that Melissa George's debut this week as Sadie, a college pal of Meredith's, will only further muddle things for the would-be Mr. and Mrs. Derek Shepherd. But maybe not. Consider this: Sadie's arrival will prompt Cristina - who feels displaced by her BFF's old BFF - to be a better sounding board for Derek, and that just might ease the tension in the lovebirds' overcrowded nest.

Sneak Previews From "These Ties That Bind"

Below are five sneak previews of "These Ties That Bind," Thursday's all-new episode of Grey's Anatomy. From the looks of it, there's a lot going on at Seattle Grace this week.

In the clip below, Meredith's old friend Sadie (Melissa George) shows up unannounced at her door - to the dismay of both Cristina and Derek, who lament things afterward ...

Funny stuff. Follow the jump for a quartet of additional sneak previews, including a confrontation between Derek and Owen, and the arrival of Dr. Dixon (Mary McDonnell) ...

Grey's Anatomy-Private Practice Crossover Episode(s) Planned

TV Guide reports this morning that Grey's Anatomy and its spin-off, Private Practice, will be embarking on a multi-episode crossover story for February sweeps.

Though at this very early stage the number of episodes and the sum total of actors involved has yet to be nailed down, it can at least be confirmed that Kate Walsh's character, Dr. Addison Montgomery will again be walking the halls of Seattle Grace.

Addison returned for one episode late in Season Four after leaving the Grey's Anatomy cast for the sunny skies of L.A. and Private Practice after Season Three.

She is So Back!

What brings Addison (Kate Walsh) back to Seattle this time?

Who from Seattle Grace might show their face at Oceanside Wellness? Walsh personally cast her vote for Mark Sloan, saying, "It'd be fun to have him cause some trouble!"

That said, the actual list of involved cast members from each show, besides Walsh, is unconfirmed. Who would you like to see - and under what premise?

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Theories on Erica's Departure

As controversy continues to swirl around Brooke Smith's firing from Grey's Anatomy, EW's Michael Ausiello offers the following insight in his weekly Q&A session ...

Q: What the heck about Brooke Smith leaving on Grey's Anatomy? And her last episode is this Thursday? And Hahn's final scene consists of her leaving work for the day? Insanity.

A: I'm going to give Shonda Rhimes the benefit of the doubt and assume she's intentionally leaving Hahn's exit ambiguous and, therefore, open to interpretation. Sort of like the Sopranos finale. Did Hahn get shot to death on the way to the parking garage? Did she pull a Thelma & Louise and drive her car off a cliff? Did the hospital's automatic doors malfunction and decapitate her? Did she return to Weeds? The possibilities are endless. Personally, I'm leaning toward the Thelma & Louise scenario. According to one of my Grey's Anatomy moles, Callie and Erica have a big, relationship-severing blowout in tomorrow's episode that starts with an argument over whether Izzie paid a big enough price for her role in Denny-gate (guest star Jeffrey Dean Morgan also supposedly makes an appearance tonight!), and ends with Callie realizing she doesn't love girls as much as Erica does. Hey, people have killed themselves over less.

This is Just How They Operate

Sneak Previews From "Rise Up"

Below is a sneak preview from tomorrow night's all-new episode of Grey's Anatomy, "Rise Up." Our favorite group of residents meet a new patient (we use the term loosely) named Stan, and in the process, learn a piece of information that lights a fire under them ...

While the situation with Brooke Smith abruptly and controversially leaving the series continues to cast a pall over this episode, it does look pretty entertaining on its own merits.

Follow the jump for two more Grey's Anatomy sneak preview clips (we'll add more videos when and if we come across them), as well as the first ABC promo for the episode ...

"Life During Wartime" Sneak Previews

Tomorrow, on an all-new Grey's Anatomy, Major Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) returns to Seattle Grace - sending Cristina into a panic! Here's a sneak preview of Dr. Hunt's return, with four additional clips from "Life During Wartime" after the jump ...

Following the jump, see what two characters have already been sleeping together for a week, and what the Chief has in mind next for his protege, Dr. Bailey ...

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Wednesday Edition

Below are this morning's Grey's Anatomy spoilers and news items, culled from Entertainment Weekly (top three) and TV Guide (final item) ...

Q: So what's this big Denny-related story on Grey's Anatomy that could but might not open the door for Katherine Heigl to leave the show?

A: I'll say this: The exit primer I alluded to does not concern any kind of health crisis. Rather, it pertains to a very dark day in Izzie's professional career that rears its ugly head again.

Q: How long is Melissa George under contract for? Not too long I hope - Grey's Anatomy is already too bloated.

A: Reports suggest she's doing at least 11 episodes, but in my recent Q&A with her, she said there's no end date. As for the bloating ... well, are in a hospital. Aren't there pills for that?

Uncertain Isobel, Redux

Q: President Roslin (a.k.a. Mary McDonnell) on Grey's Anatomy?! Give us the scoop?

A: She debuts November 13, and her Dr. Virginia Dixon character shares something in common with a Bones regular.

Q: When is McArmy coming back to Grey's Anatomy? And please tell me he is going to be part of the cast.

A: As you saw at the end of last Thursday's episode, Army Major Owen Hunt is back in action - and will ruffle some feathers, stat! At this time, Kevin McKidd is on what producers are calling a "strongly recurring" status, but he certainly has the potential to become a series regular.
