Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Owen and Cristina's Future

After several of the most emotional and heartbreaking scenes in the show's history, are Cristina and Owen really done on Grey's Anatomy? Or will this couple rise again?

Despite the apparent breakup at the end of "Elevator Love Letter" and rumors of Owen reenlisting in the Army, they're far from over, Michael Ausiello of EW assures us.

As Kevin McKidd himself told EW recently, the docs will be thrown "a huge curveball that neither of them see coming. Just as he starts to get over his thing, something else happens."

"Which is good and bad. It's like, 'Oh my God, this is big.' It will be interesting to see how it leads into next season," the 35-year-old Scottish actor added.

Any guesses as to what this Grey's Anatomy spoiler refers to? Come on, it shouldn't be that hard. Think. Bad and good. We can do this! Comment below!

Uh... Say What?

Ellen Pompeo Teases Grey's Anatomy Wedding

Sans scrubs, Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo and her husband, Chris Ivery, paid a visit to the Children's Hospital in her native Boston on March 31.

The Everett, Mass., native, who attended the hospital's Women in Medicine Luncheon today, spent a ton of time talking to patients and their parents.

Ellen Pompeo impressed us not only with her easy beside manner but also her knowledge of medicine. "It's from my job," said the TV doctor.

"They do so much to make that part of it authentic."

Enormous basketball fans that they are, Pompeo and Chris Ivery were in their usual spots, front and center at the Celtics game on Sunday.

"I love the Celtics, but we love NBA basketball," she said.

"When we travel we go see games. The only thing I have to be that loyal to is my husband, everything else I can have more than one."

Asked about Katherine Heigl's recent comment about Meredith and Derek getting married - on the show's 100th episode, no less - Pompeo grinned and said:

"There's a wedding ... There's a setting that's a wedding, that's all I can say right now. I can't say who gets married. We're still working on the episode."

The actress told the Boston Globe she's thankful for the show's longevity, and credited the loyal fans of Grey's Anatomy for the show's continued success.

"Sometimes it seems like a long time and other times, I think, 'Wow, where did the five years go?' It's a lot like life and I've learned to think that way - to appreciate that it's going by quickly ... Our fans are the real reason we're on the air. They are so supportive."

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Lexie and Meredith

We spent a lot of time theorizing on Mer and Der, Owen and Cristina, and of course George and Izzie, but what's ahead for the Grey sisters on Grey's Anatomy?

You know how when sad dad Thatcher Grey swings by Seattle Grace, he almost always stirs up some sort of trouble or angst, TV Guide accurately notes today.

But amazingly, his April 30 visit will apparently bring Meredith and Lexie closer together. That would be nice. How do you think his visit will accomplish that?

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Owen Reenlisting?

Are Cristina and Owen over for good after last week's amazing episode, or is there a chance the couple may find itself back together despite the increasingly difficult odds?

According to E! Online's spoiler Q&A, the Grey's Anatomy fifth season finale features two characters at a military recruiting office. That's an intriguing development.

Is Owen leaving Cristina and Seattle Grace for another enlistment in the U.S. Army?! Could it instead be George leaving Seattle, with Owen with him there for support?

Katherine Heigl Quiet on Future; MerDer Wedding is May 7

Despite ongoing reports that she wanted out of her Grey's Anatomy contract and that she was being killed off the show, Katherine Heigl said she wants to stay on the medical drama if her character, Izzie, survives brain surgery.

"I was assuming that [Izzie would die] at one point, and all I got were a lot of shrugged shoulders and shakes of the head, so I don't know if that's a yes or a no," she told the Associated Press Friday at a party celebrating the show's 100th episode.

"No one will tell me and I don't know how this is going to go."

Katherine Heigl noted that the decision rests solely with the show and series creator Shonda Rhimes, who is known to value plot secrecy.

"I don't know if I live or die," Heigl said. "I don't know how Izzie fares."

Dr. Izzie Stevens has metastatic melanoma - skin cancer - that spread to her brain, giving her only a five percent chance of survival, a story the show has built up for months courtesy of her visions of her late fiance, Denny Duquette (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

On Thursday's episode, "Elevator Love Letter," she survived brain surgery.

Sticking Around After All?

Still, Heigl said, "I'm there" if Izzie remains part of Grey's Anatomy, for which she has starred since it debuted on ABC in March 2005. She called the set "one of my favorite places to be" and said her colleagues are also some of her best friends.

Rhimes, who is also an executive producer, declined to comment on what will happen to Heigl's character, but she did reveal a clue about the 100th episode, airing May 7.

"The only thing I'll tell you about the 100th is that it takes place on Meredith [Ellen Pompeo] and Derek's [Patrick Dempsey] wedding day," Rhimes said.

"That's big ... and that's all I'm going to say."

Well, guess we're no longer in the dark about that.

Katherine Heigl, who some thought was wanting to be released from the show to focus on her movie career (Knocked Up, 27 Dresses), said she's comfortable balancing film and TV work by taking on big-screen projects during the summer hiatus.

"I'm more than happy to make that compromise," Heigl said. "As my agent likes to say, 'High-class problems.' I don't know if I want to continue for five years working 12 months a year, but I can take at least another year or two."

Three Sneak Previews of "Elevator Love Letter"

Wow.

The intense scene from tonight's episode (below), in which Owen succumbs to a bout of combat-stress-induced rage and starts attacking Cristina, cannot be described as "great" because it's so scary, but the performances by the actors are really striking. See for yourself:

Terrifying scene, but so well done. Thoughts? Reactions? Analysis?

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Wedding Update, George & More

Entertainment Weekly's amazing Michael Ausiello has some Grey's Anatomy spoilers for us in his weekly spoiler Q&A. Here's what he has to say about a number of hot topics ...

Q: Do you have any awesome scoop on what's ahead on Grey's Anatomy?

A: The Grey's Anatomy wedding taking place in the show's 100th episode on May 7? Turns out it's not Mer-Der after all! The plot thickens!

Dr. O

Q: Any news on whether T.R. Knight will get a story this season on Grey's Anatomy?

A: Remember me telling you last month about a proposed storyline that would find O'Malley developing an interest in Owen's specialty as a military/trauma doc? You know, the one ABC insisted had been scrapped and replaced with something even better?

Well, my colleague, Jennifer Armstrong, just spoke to Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt), and the new story sounds a lot like the old one ...

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Will Cristina and Owen ...

... you know. The show's most intriguing couple's hasn't yet done the deed. Can we expect them to anytime soon? Let's hear what TV Guide says in its spoiler Q&A ...

Q: Any dish on Grey's Anatomy's most interesting couple, Cristina and Owen? Any chance of them hitting the sheets soon?

A: "Interesting" is pretty much how Kevin McKidd summed up his Grey's Anatomy romance when he dropped by on Tuesday. Calling the docs' courtship "kind of cool," the Scotsman said, "They're probably more in love than a lot of people on the show, and yet they haven't actually consummated their relationship."

Why are they waiting to do the deed, violent PTSD outbursts aside?

Says Kevin McKidd, "They both know deep down that this isn't just [about] a quickie in the on-call room ... so they're holding out for the correct set of circumstances."

As for when said moment might arrive, I will say this: sooner than you think.

Who Will Get Married on Grey's Anatomy?

Grey's Anatomy series creator Shonda Rhimes has already confirmed that one of the show's couples will tie the knot later this season - the only question is who.

There's increasing buzz, according to EW, that the event will take place on May 7, during the show's landmark 100th episode, appropriately titled "Beautiful Day."

Adding to the speculation: The episode will feature a minister.

The bigger question than when it will happen, of course, is who is walking down the aisle? One source close to Grey's Anatomy says Derek and Meredith will finally, finally take the plunge - something a show spokesperson would not confirm or deny.

Keep in mind, though, that Rhimes said Grey's viewers would be surprised by the bride and groom's identities. What would be surprising about a Mer-Der wedding?

Mer-Der Hugs

Maybe the speed with which it would have taken place. Sure, the star-crossed lovers have been dating for four years, but a May 7 wedding would make for a lightning-fast engagement - considering the two aren't even technically engaged yet.

While it's unofficial, all signs point to Meredith accepting Dereks's elevator proposal this Thursday night in the also appropriately-titled "Elevator Love Letter."

"Shonda is probably counting on fans thinking a Der-Mer engagement would be just as drawn out as their courtship," speculates one Grey's Anatomy insider.

"So to marry them off seven weeks after getting engaged would certainly qualify as a surprise."

Thoughts? Would a Mer-Der wedding catch you off guard? Or is Shonda pulling a fast one and having another Grey's Anatomy couples tie the knot?
