Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Owen, Cristina and Teddy

Okay, seriously. How long are these pesky Mercy West doctors sticking around? Can they be called cast members? What's the deal with cardio-goddess Teddy - and Owenstina?

These are the questions of the day pertaining to our favorite show in E! Online's spoiler chat. Let's get down to the spoilers/news tidbits, then you can weigh in with comments!

Q: I hate the new Mercy Westers. Please tell me they leave Grey's Anatomy soon.

A: We can confirm that Nora Zehetner is still on the show as we speak, and we're pretty sure the rest of the gang will be hanging around for a while as well. Sorry.

Q: Please don't tell me Kim Raver is sticking around long on Grey's Anatomy!

A: She's not going anywhere for the time being, and according to Kevin McKidd (Owen), that is a very good thing! "When we heard the pitch of this idea for the storyline this year," Kevin says, "I think Sandra and I were kind of initially like, 'This is bad.'"

Owenstina and Teddy

"I think we felt this is a good thing with these two and there could have been more story lines to tell. But you know, I met Kim and we started to work and what seemed to be coming clear very quickly is that we three actors have great respect for each other.

"At the end of the day, that adds a really interesting dynamic to the triangle as it is played out on the screen because all three of us actors have great respect for each other."

Q: What's going to happen with Owen, Cristina and Teddy on Grey's Anatomy?

A: More from Mr. McKidd on that topic: "It's not going to be some petty, juvenile, immature thing. Things are going to be interesting and intense. It's going to get much hotter and complicated between the three of them because it is such an adult problem that they have."

"People are hopefully going to be very, very torn when it comes down to it, and very involved and kind of sucked in. I think it's a very interesting story we're telling."

Perhaps we should all keep an open mind? Or not. What do you think?

Shonda Rhimes: Great Grey's Anatomy Stuff Ahead!

Get ready for pulse-pounding end to 2009 and new beginnings in 2010.

That's according to Shonda Rhimes herself, and we couldn't be happier.

“It’s starting to get really exciting, especially as we head towards these episodes that end the year and start off the new year,” the Grey's Anatomy creator and executive producer told TV Guide Magazine. “We’ve got some really great stuff coming.”

Now that Owen and Christina are a couple, will the new resident surgeon Teddy Altman - a.k.a. “cardio god” (played by guest star Kim Raver) - put a heart-stopping wrench in their fledgling romance? Rhimes urges fans to stay tuned on that front.

“Yes, but not how you’d expect,” revealed Rhimes. “I think everyone assumes it’s going to go one way. It’s a very different story than we’ve ever told before.”

Meredith-Derek Love

Meanwhile, Meredith and Derek will continue to take the audience on a roller coaster ride of typical emotional highs and lows, yet even more challenges await.

“I think a lot of what’s going on is watching them come into their own as doctors [and] watching what goes on between them in the hospital,” said Rhimes.

With the Chief falling off the wagon once again, leaving his wife’s imagination to run wild - and straight down to the hospital where she accuses Dr. Bailey of having an affair with him - the repercussions will go a lot deeper than just the bottom of the bottle.

“That’s going to get a little complicated,” she said, promising more info in coming episodes. “That’s going to get more complicated than anybody expects.”

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Obstacles For MerDer

Last night, we saw new mom Ellen Pompeo back at Grey’s Anatomy. The show is moving Derek and Meredith back where they belong: front and center. That’s the good news.

Here comes the bad, according to EW: “They will face relationship challenges, many of them work-oriented, in the second half of the season,” reveals creator Shonda Rhimes.

Rhimes insists, though, that this latest obstacle will not result in the newly married-via-Post-It pair breaking up - a rumor that has been making the rounds on the Internet.

Mer and Der Love

Derek and Meredith aren't breaking up ... but there'll be bumps along the way.

“I don’t know how many times [I] can say, ‘Derek and Meredith are together forever’ and have anybody hear it,” the  executive producer says. “I can only reassure so much."

“In order to [produce] a drama you need to have some drama,” Rhimes adds.

“Whether or not two people are meant for one another and will remain together doesn’t mean that things aren’t going to happen to challenge their relationship.”

What do you think? Are you okay with watching the MerDer relationship evolve even if it means some difficult times? And what do you think these new obstacles will be?

Grey's Anatomy Promo: "Holidaze"

Next week on Grey's Anatomy, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's pass, Miranda is visited by her father, William, who disapproves of her choices in life. Meanwhile, Thatcher Grey questions the Chief's recent behavior as Meredith, of all people, comes to his defense.

Perhaps most significantly, Mark and Lexie cope with the shocking arrival of a woman from his past - a girl who looks to be about 18 and claims Mark is her ... wait for it ... dad!

Is it true? Will this set the Private Practice crossover in motion? It sure does look that way. We'll have to wait and see, but this could be a very interesting development.

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Izzie and the Chief

We've been debating this week whether Izzie could be pregnant on Grey's Anatomy. We have our doubts, but according to EW's Michael Ausiello, there is another Izzie surprise in store for us soon. Meanwhile, Richard's stress apparently boils over tonight.

Here's what EW's spoiler Q&A reveals this morning ...

Q: Is Izzie really pregnant on Grey’s Anatomy?

A: I'll say this: ABC's promo gurus are very sneaky! While we’re on the subject of Katherine Heigl, sources confirm that she’s taking another leave of absence from Grey’s Anatomy this season - but this time her reasons are personal and not professional.

Wig StyleR-Webb

Heigl will be going on a belated maternity leave to spend some QT with new adopted daughter Naleigh. As a result, Izzie will be MIA for another string of episodes (most likely in early 2010).

What do you think prompts Izzie's second departure from SGH?

Q: Please tell me something will happen soon on Grey’s Anatomy that will make me stop hating the Chief! I used to love him but this season has been terrible!

A: Would the sight of him falling off the wagon do the trick? 'Cause that’s what happens at the end of this week’s episode, "New History."

Three Sneak Previews: "New History"

Below are three sneak previews of tomorrow night's episode of Grey's Anatomy, "New History." What do you expect when the new cardio god(dess) comes to town?

How about a hilariously awkward introduction with Cristina? You got it.

Meanwhile, what's the fallout from the Cristina-Jackson kiss? According to Cristina, there was no kiss. There, that settles that! Leave it to Yang to clear things up.

Lastly, Izzie's back and things are getting tense already. At least she went and sought treatment elsewhere, but that's not likely to ease the tension with Alex.

Here's the first clip from the episode, with two more after the jump ...

Alternate Promo For "New History"

A certain Seattle Grace doctor has everyone guessing. Is Izzie pregnant?

She's back, in any case, as the promo below (basically a shorter version of the original promo) for this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy makes clear. The question is, what now?

Check it out below and let us know what you think ...

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Cristina, Jackson and Calzona

The Cristina-Jackson kiss last week on Grey's Anatomy shook up one of the romances we'd grown accustomed to rooting for on the show, which was the entire point. The question is whether we like it, and whether we're even supposed to know that yet.

Is this being introduced as a minor stumbling block for Cristina and Owen, or is there more to it? Is the "chemistry" some fans are talking about a bit overblown this early on?

Here's what E! has to say about the surprising sparks flying between those two, as well as the latest goings on with the awesome known to fans (or at least us) as Calzona ...

Q: Forget Owen and Cristina on Grey's Anatomy! Give us some scoop on Cristina and Jackson!

A: Look at you with your contrarian point of view! If you are rooting for Cristina-Jackson, you'll be happy to hear that Jesse Williams his scenes are mostly with Sandra Oh and Chyler Leigh:

"It seems to be Cristina and also Lexie [that I spent most time with], just because our characters did spend that whole episode together last week."

Cristina and Jackson Kiss

Sounds like a definite case of unresolved sexual tension, as well: "Right when we started, Jackson and Cristina did the opposite of hit it off; immediately they had confrontation with each other, but I do think there is an underlying mutual respect and wariness there that will carry on."

Q: I loved last week's episode of Grey's Anatomy, especially the scenes between Arizona and Callie! They are becoming my favorite couple on the show. What's the scoop on them coming up?

A: According to the lovely Ms. Jessica Capshaw, "I don't have a view of what's around the corner, but it feels like they're in a nice place. I would be lying if I didn't say this is a one-hour drama - of course there's gonna be drama, there has to be - but so far I don't know where the drama or the conflict will be coming from."

"Right now, I think they're just in a very sort of loving relationship and all the good things that come with a new relationship and trying to figure it out."
