What Did You Think of Tonight's Grey's Anatomy?

Tonight on Grey's Anatomy, Cristina struggled to use her gift, Izzie was told she can't be a patient and a doctor, and Meredith made an incredibly selfless decision to help her ailing father, Thatcher, who needed a liver transplant after years of alcoholism.

The guy below? Well, he was pretty much awesome.

Batter Up!

Izzie: I forgot he was dead today. For a few hours in surgery, I forgot I had cancer and I forgot he was dead.
Alex: But, George is dead. And you do have cancer. I want you to keep doing what you love. You're a great doctor, and you have a fantastic future ahead of you. But, you've gotta step up and start taking care of yourself. You've gotta take your meds, you've gotta eat. You've gotta pace yourself, 'cause I can't be your nurse. I can't. | permalink
Arizona: I hate, hate, hate this merger because I hate long distance relationships. I don't believe in them. So, you can't move to Portland.
Callie: Well, when you mentioned it this afternoon you didn't seem to mind. You were like... "move to Portland!"
Arizona: I didn't know that I was allowed to mind. I didn't know if we were girlfriends. But, then you said girlfriend. You called me your girlfriend. So, I need to know. Am I your girlfriend?
Callie: Yeah.
Arizona: Ok. Good. So, yeah. No! You're not moving to Portland. No, but what you are gonna do is you're gonna go into the Chief's office and you're gonna beg for...
Callie: I am not gonna grovel.
Arizona: Ah, yes you are. Seriously. You don't wanna mess with me. | permalink
Arizona: Wait, shhh.... I think there's something coming from your pocket. Is Sage inside your pocket?
Cristina: No, no. She's hiding here.
Sage: You've gotta look in your pocket first.
Cristina: No, I don't. Because I found you already. Now, I just need to check your incision site so...
Sage: Don't touch it, it hurts.
Arizona: You know, I bet that Mr. Bear would like to see Sage's scar. Wouldn't you Mr Bear?
Cristina: Oh um, (puts on a big bear voice) Yes I would!
(Sage and Arizona both look at Cristina strangely) | permalink
Cristina: That list is everything - it is my future. It is my salvation. The list is life.
Owen: You're comparing the merger with Schindler's List?
Cristina: I'm Jewish. I'm allowed. | permalink
Meredith (narrating): We're all susceptible to it, the dread and anxiety of not knowing what's coming. It's pointless in the end, because all the worrying and the making of plans for things that could or could not happen, it only makes things worse. So walk your dog or take a nap. Just whatever you do, stop worrying. Because the only cure for paranoia is to be here, just as you are. | permalink

Episode Recap: "I Always Feel Like Somebody's Watchin' Me"

Last night, Grey's Anatomy gave us a glimpse of what this transitional sixth season is going to be like, with our core characters scrambling to save their jobs, burdened by uncertainty (well, not Mark, but just about everyone else), and a lot up in the air.

It mirrors the way life is going for so many of us in this country nowadays, life shrouded with doubt, the future blurry, and everyone reacting to challenges in their own way.

A schizophrenic patient's arrival mirrored what many of the doctors of Seattle Grace are feeling too. Here's our full recap of "I Always Feel Like Somebody's Watchin' Me."

Within the episode main page you can find links to Grey's Anatomy quotes, Grey's Anatomy music, photos and videos from the night. These are available for all episodes!

What Did You Think of This Week's Grey's Anatomy?

Budget cuts abound and stress levels are through the roof for our favorite residents, interns and attendings at Seattle Grace. All of the main characters retained their jobs (obviously), but not without some major bumps, bruises and drama along the way.

Which New Grey's Anatomy Couple is Your Favorite?

Meredith and Derek hooked up on the very first episode of Grey's Anatomy, and through thick, thin and post-it note weddings, they've been the focal point of the show ever since.

Which is why we've left the Grey's core couple out of the poll below. MerDer is in a league of its own at this point, while the show's other romantic pairings are all relatively knew.

Since the beginning of last season, we've met Drs. Arizona Robbins and Owen Hunt, Lexie and Mark coupled up and Alex and Izzie got married. Love is in the air at Seattle Grace!

Executive Producer Krista Vernoff says the show has spent a lot of time getting people together, and now it's time to tell stories of people being together. Amen to that, we say.

But besides MerDer, whose stories are you most excited to see told in this new season and beyond? Which of the four Grey's Anatomy couples below is your favorite? Vote!

Now here are some of the Grey's Anatomy quotes from last night that we liked most. Which was your favorite line? Thanks so much to Maddie O for help with these ...

Calexie

Bailey: I am an attending. And, I am a single mother. And I lost O'Malley. And um, I just can't. I can't care anymore. Stevens is not my child. O'Malley was not my child. I have to stop treating them... I just have to stop caring so much. 'Cause I can't keep feeling... feeling like this. Not at work. I have to save the feeling for my son, who needs it. I just can't keep giving it away here. I can't. I won't. | permalink
Alex: Dude, are you crying?
Arizona: I have authority issues. Walk away Karev! | permalink
Callie: (crying) My ex husband died, he died. He actually got hit by a bus. George got hit by a bus. And now... now I have to get a new job and I'm never gonna see my friends anymore and Arizona keeps bringing me doughnuts!
Mark: Is this place for sale? It's nice.
Callie: What?
Mark: Oh, nothing. | permalink
Lexie: I was gonna clean out his locker. Give his stuff to his Mom but, I was a bad friend. To George. I was about as good a friend to him as Clara's friends, who keep sending post cards from the trip she'll never get to take. I just... I... I abandoned him completely. I... I... I just moved out and stopped talking to him. Why? Because, because he didn't think I was as hot I thought he was? Because he... he didn't love me back?
Mark: This may be bad timing but I gotta ask. What did that guy have? I mean, he wasn't much to look at. But, you and Steven's and Torres. Tell the truth. Was he... you know... hung?
Lexie: That's...
Mark: I know, I said bad timing.
Lexie: I...
Mark: But seriously, he was kind of a dorky little dude.
Lexie: Stop! Stop talking (laughing). | permalink
Meredith: You're laughing?
Alex: She's laughing.
Izzie: [laughing] George is dead! He's dead! They're about to put him in the ground and the priest is doing classic rock lyrics! And that girl, that redhead, is crying harder than his mother and she never even met him!
Cristina: You are far more twisted than I ever realized. | permalink
Lexie: [narrating] Grief may be a thing we all have in common, but it looks different on everyone.
Mark: It isn't just death we have to grieve. It's life. It's loss. It's change.
Alex: And when we wonder why it has to suck so much sometimes, has to hurt so bad. The thing we gotta try to remember is that it can turn on a dime.
Izzie: That's how you stay alive. When it hurts so much you can't breathe, that's how you survive.
Derek: By remembering that one day, somehow, impossibly, you won't feel this way. It won't hurt this much.
Bailey: Grief comes in its own time for everyone, in its own way.
Owen: So the best we can do, the best anyone can do, is try for honesty.
Meredith: The really crappy thing, the very worst part of grief is that you can't control it.
Arizona: The best we can do is try to let ourselves feel it when it comes.
Callie: And let it go when we can.
Meredith: The very worst part is that the minute you think you're past it, it starts all over again.
Cristina: And always, every time, it takes your breath away.
Meredith: There are five stages of grief. They look different on all of us, but there are always five.
Alex: Denial.
Derek: Anger.
Bailey: Bargaining.
Lexie: Depression.
Richard: Acceptance. | permalink

The Dempsey Challenge: Support a Good Cause and Win an Autographed Photo of Patrick!

On Sunday, October 4, the town of Lewiston, Maine, will host The Dempsey Challenge: A Journey for Hope. It is first year of the event, which Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey, a native of that great state and an avid cyclist, will be riding in personally.

There are also 10, 25, and 50-mile bike rides, as well as a 5K walk/run, with the money going to the recently-opened Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing, which he named after his mother (who is a five-time survivor of Ovarian Cancer).

As if that weren't cool enough, one of Grey's Anatomy Insider's readers, known on our site as marriedmymcdreamy, is riding in it and looking to raise money.

And, as if the good cause wasn't enough motivation, anyone who donates $20 or more will be entered to win an autographed version of the photo below!

You can donate to our resident cyclist's efforts via her donation page and follow her fundraising efforts via her Twitter page as well. Best of luck, Shannon!
