Grey's Anatomy Episode Guide: "Invest in Love"

Last night was all about children in distress. Very different kinds of distress.

Whether it was Alex giving a prematurely-born infant skin-on-skin contact to help it survive just another minute, or Cristina and Jackson going rogue in the O.R., limits where pushed.

Sadly, for Arizona, she was unable to save the life of a patient she cared for deeply. But if there was any silver lining to be found, perhaps someone finally got through to the Chief.

Jessica Capshaw in particular was brilliant last night, proving that hospitals are not just about dollars and cents, but a sense of compassion. Another terrific performance by the cast.

What Did You Think of "Give Peace a Chance"?

Tonight's episode featured McDreamy, front and center, fighting multiple battles. And the Chandra Wilson-directed masterpiece was probably the best one of the year so far.

It was certainly compelling to watch him battle so hard to save Isaac - and continue squaring off with the embattled Richard, raising the stakes higher than ever this time.

Grey's Anatomy Episode Guide: "I Saw What I Saw"

Thursday night's episode of Grey's Anatomy saw 12 doctors saying they saw 12 different things in a scene reminiscent of ER. But it was one mistake early on that led to a fatal chain of events for a patient and landed a doctor out on the street in search of a new job.

April blew it. A routine check of a patient's throat would have revealed unhealthy carbon monoxide levels early and saved her, but the room was chaotic and she dropped the ball.

Still, it was just a mistake, and as Derek said, perhaps the blame should be placed on the man who can't get the hospital under control or on the same page. Harsh, but true.

For the complete rundown of the episode, which employed a very different story-telling method than any we've seen so far, check out our episode recap of "I Saw What I Saw."

Inexcusable

In charge of revamping Seattle Grace and merging Mercy West with it, Chief Richard Webber wants answers. The problem is he's getting too many - and he's not looking in the mirror.

"I Saw What I Saw": What Did You Think?

When the Mercy West doctors descended on Seattle Grace in last week's "Invasion," there was no love lost between our old standbys and their job-hungry competitors.

What we saw then paled in comparison to this evening, though.

In a chaotic ER scene, disaster strikes and there is plenty of blame to go around, compounding the already-rising tension in a turbulent environment. At times, it got ugly.

The truth came out eventually, and someone dearly paid the price.

Did you see that turn of events coming, or were you surprised?

What did you think of tonight's Grey's Anatomy in general?

Grey's Anatomy Episode Guide: "Invasion"

Last night's Grey's Anatomy saw the world of Seattle Grace as we know it turned on its head. The Mercy Westers descended, wreaked havoc and one of our own got fired.

How long will Izzie Stevens be gone? Did she really leave Alex? These questions remain up in the air for now in the wake of her abrupt departure at the end of the episode.

Lexie, Alex and Cristina each did whatever they could to upstage their new Mercy West counterparts, with largely failed results. Our people are looking dazed and confused.

Elsewhere, Callie's dad returned to convert her, but he was the one who saw the light. Bailey's patient was almost killed by Izzie, driving her to L.A. and Private Practice.

For the full rundown of events last night, here's our recap of "Invasion."

Richard and Isobel

Richard lets Izzie go. She does not take the news well.

What Did You Think of "Invasion"?

You can't pray away the gay. But you must at least try - however in vain - to hold the ship until your last ... dying ... breath. Words to live by, Grey's Anatomy style.

The invaders from Mercy West invaded, as advertised, although the consequences were more severe than anticipated for the doctors we love, as well as their patients.

Will Izzie return? Where did she go? That we can only wait and see.

A Special Note on The Dempsey Challenge

As we posted a few weeks back, one of Grey's Anatomy Insider's loyal readers, Shannon Gilmartin (a.k.a. marriedmymcdreamy), took part in the Dempsey Challenge in Lewiston, Maine.

For those unfamiliar, the event is a charity bike race put together by Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey to benefit the Dempsey Center for cancer research in his home state.

Well, thanks in part to some donations from fellow Grey's Anatomy Insider readers, Shannon not only raised the most money ($10,130), but brought in the most donors (170)!

Because she raised the most money, Shannon got to go on a semi private ride the day before the October 4 Dempsey Challenge, riding in a group that included Patrick Dempsey himself and pro cyclists Ted King, George Hincapie and Dave Zabriskie (pictured below) ...

Dempsey Challenge

We're happy to have played a small role in helping a participant in such a neat event.

Moreover, we're happy that Patrick Dempsey is a guy who uses his popularity to do good things in this world, raising more than a million dollars for cancer research in a single day.

Congratulations to Shannon and to all the participants who made the first annual race so successful, and here's hoping the 2010 Dempsey Challenge is an even bigger success.

Lexie and Bailey

Lexie: Oh, you're awake. How's your pain? Is your mouth dry? There's water if you're thirsty.
Meredith: Um, have you been sleeping on me all night?
Lexie: Yes. Moving between you and dad. Who's doing good.
Meredith: Good. Good, that's good. Lexie?
Lexie: Yeah?
Meredith: You're on my IV.
Lexie: Oh, sorry. | permalink
Callie: Chief. Are you ok?
Richard: I have responsibilities. To make this hospital the best medical facility it could be. To repair what I have broken, even if it was 20 years ago. If I am now the bad guy, if I am now the villain here. Well, so be it.
Callie: This must be so hard for you.
Richard: Thanks Torres.
Callie: I was, I was gonna... I was... But, I'm gonna go. So, you take care ok.
Richard: Torres.
Callie: Sir?
Richard: Go see HR tomorrow. Tell them you're an attending at Seattle Grace Hospital and you want a new badge. | permalink
Bailey: I had 5 interns. 4 of you have been on this table. One of you has cancer, one of you died. You'd better not pull anything funny on me Grey. | permalink
Mark: If it's bad news, I don't wanna wake her.
Bailey: Wake her. | permalink
Alex: Since when did you become a marriage counselor?
Cristina: I guess when you save someone's life you kinda want it not to suck. | permalink
Izzie: Are you gonna get tested Mer?
Meredith: No. I barely know the guy.
Cristina: You might as well just get tested.
Alex: You could regret it if you don't do it.
Cristina: He may be a drunk deadbeat, but he gave you the ultimate gift.
Alex: The gift of life.
Izzie: You guys are sick. You really are, you're sick. Don't listen to them, Mer. They just want a surgery.
Cristina: Mama needs to cut. | permalink
Derek: He brought us down here to make himself feel good.
Mark: At least he sprung for good danish.
Derek: Do you know how many nurses got fired for that danish? | permalink
Izzie: Are you sure it was a bear and not a deer? There's a lot of deer in those woods. Bucks can get pretty big.
Alex: I think I know the difference between a bear and a deer.
Izzie: (to patient) Rest, ice and elevate. Ok?
Alex: You know... You know how I got the the car? I had to throw a raw steak and run for my life!
Izzie: That was a 10 ounce fillet, I'd been marinating it for 3 days.
Alex: We have to move! | permalink

"Tainted Obligation" Episode Recap, Music, Pictures & More

Last night, Grey's Anatomy turned in another terrific episode as Meredith made a wonderful decision to help her ailing father, Thatcher, if only for her little half-sister's sake.

Things didn't turn out nearly as well in Izzie's world, as she treated a fellow cancer patient who failed to make it. Owen told Izzie she can't be both a surgeon and a patient.

Mark had a lot of face time this week as he vied for a bigger role in Lexie's world, and helped out an elderly patient who needed a new "apparatus." That was pretty funny.

Lastly, the looming budget cuts continue to take their toll on residents.

If you need a refresher, here's our full recap of "Tainted Obligation."

Within the episode main page you can find links to Grey's Anatomy quotes, Grey's Anatomy music, photos and videos from the evening. These are available for all episodes!

Most importantly, what did you think of last night's Grey's Anatomy? Share!
