That was quite a wild ride.

The fifth season finale of Grey's Anatomy certainly left us wanting more, but it also left us devastated by some of the events near its conclusion. How would you rate it overall?

The fifth season finale of Grey's Anatomy was ...

Since before the current season even began, rumors have been circulating about Katherine Heigl wanting to leave Grey's Anatomy, and of her character Izzie Stevens' untimely demise.

With just one week to go in Season Five, all bets still off.

Hundreds of Grey's Anatomy spoilers and discussions later, we still have no idea if she's actually leaving the series, or if Izzie will succumb to cancer in the season finale.

On Thursday's episode, Izzie's wedding to Alex took place in part because of her deteriorating condition, which was quite evident at the emotional, dream ceremony.

Is next week going to be the end of the line for this original, dynamic character, or can she somehow beat the odds and recover after all she's gone through?

Will Izzie Stevens die in the season finale?

Izzie got her dream wedding after all.

After Denny reappeared and Derek pinpointed a new, probably inoperable tumor on Izzie's brain, he, Meredith and Bailey decided to make their wedding day into Izzie's.

With Cristina as the maid of honor and Meredith as the best man, and George helping his ailing best friend down the aisle when she nearly fainted, Izzie and Alex tied the knot after he recited possibly the sweetest vows ever, and their teary colleagues looked on.

In short, it was perfect.

Okay, Derek and Meredith didn't get married last night. That's too bad, but it was for a good reason. We imagine the episode will still be reviewed pretty positively by fans.

We thought the 100th episode of Grey's Anatomy, "What a Difference a Day Makes," was one of its most moving in recent memory, and perhaps ever. What did you think?

"What a Difference a Day Makes" was ...

"No Good at Saying Sorry" was a powerful episode of Grey's Anatomy that left us feeling sad and a bit overwhelmed, yet touched with hope. The whole cast - Sandra Oh and James Pickens, Jr. in particular - were terrific and reminded us just what makes the show so good.

Owen can't bring himself to tell Cristina the three words he really feels, so his coping mechanism was to sub in meaningless pleasantries. That went over about as well as Richard's attempt to let himself off the hook when it comes to Meredith and the impact he had on her.

Elsewhere, Izzie's mom came to town at Bailey's behest, but Izzie really needed to protect herself from her. Inspired by a patient, Callie refused to lie to her family about her lesbianism.

And is Mark Sloan becoming a respectable human being before our eyes?

Drama. Sadness. Heartbreak. Life-changing decisions. Even a little humor.

Last night's episode was a bit of a metaphor for life, Grey's Anatomy style.

From Hunt trying to exorcise his demons, to George overcoming Alex's taunts and shining again, to Izzie's fight to stay alive, Bailey thriving in peds, Callie being forced to defy her dad, and the evolution of the Derek-Mark-Lexie-Meredith relationships, last night had it all.

And it was wonderful.

Bailey thrived once again in her new role in peds, while Callie made the difficult - but correct - decision to live her own life and cut ties with her overbearing, disapproving father.

It seems to our staff that after an inconsistent start and a bit of a lull in the middle, Season 5 of Grey's Anatomy has really found its groove in recent weeks, presenting us with some of truly wonderful episodes and some of the best we've seen in a long time.
