Round Table: "Kung Fu Fighting"

While fans gather in our forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Grey's Anatomy Insider staff comes together to share their favorite moments and opinions regarding the most recent episode of TV's best drama.

Round Table topics for "Kung Fu Fighting" range from the arrival of Dr. Erica Hahn to Alex and Ava, Bailey's personal life and new hospital club ideas ...

1. Why does Meredith care that Lexie slept with Alex?

McCritic: In the big picture, Meredith couldn't care less. In that moment? She's upset because Alex was one person she hadn't whined to all episode and she was disappointed to see he was busy doing her pseudo sister.

iheartizzie: I don't think she really does, at least she shouldn't. But it threw her for a loop at a time when Meredith is trying to figure out who she is, and whether she can make herself go after what she really needs in life - Derek.

AndYouveGotTheHair: Because her turf is being invaded? Alex, that is? First, Lexie was the girl from the bar. Now she's the girl sleeping with her friend. Even if they have gotten to know each other a little (Mer & Lexie) this can't sit well.

Karev and Stevens

2. Izzie's pre-coital tears: A sign of extreme tiredness, or long-term problems for Gizzie?

iheartizzie: I'm sure fatigue played a role, but considering George and Izzie have only slept together once (drunkenly), this isn't a good indicator. Maybe Gizzie is meant to be, but this relationship doesn't exactly have a solid foundation now.

McCritic: Can't it be both? If Izzie can't have sex because she was in surgery all day, well, that doesn't bode well if you're trying to date a surgeon.

AndYouveGotTheHair: I don't know. She's probably nervous, but also tired. I can't imagine being on my feet that long, or doing a 36-hour shift or whatever.

3. Is Ava seriously gone? Seriously?

AndYouveGotTheHair: Seriously, she so is. Sigh.

McCritic: No. She'll be back once Karev shaves off that facial hair.

iheartizzie: After all they went through together last season, and then everything she said to him last week - not to mention appearing on the cover of TV Guide and generating all that hype? Ava can't be gone for good, can she? This Grey's Anatomy Insider says (and certainly hopes) not. I prefer Alva to Alexie.

4. Who will sleep together first: Callie and Mark? Or Richard and Dr. Hahn?

McCritic: Callie and Mark. They've already done the deed, for one thing. And Callie needs a strong guy to go toe-to-toe, and private part to private part, with her. Mark Sloan is that man.

iheartizzie: Gotta go with Callie and Mark. First of all, they already hooked up, so a second round isn't far-fetched. And after lambasting Cristina for her relationship with Burke, Erica Hahn sleeping with Richard would be a tad hypocritical.

AndYouveGotTheHair: Can we go with Mark Sloan and Dr. Hahn? Something about these doctors' personalities makes me think they would make a great couple.

Round Table: "Haunt You Every Day"

While fans gather in our forum to discuss each character and plot line, the Grey's Anatomy Insider staff comes together to talk about their favorite moments and share their opinions regarding the most recent episode of TV's top drama.

Round Table topics for "Haunt You Every Day" range from the arrival of Dr. Erica Hahn to Alex and Ava, Bailey's personal life and new hospital club ideas ...

1. Dr. Hahn: Welcome addition, or Unwanted bitch?

McCritic: A welcome addition. Especially considering the rumors that Dr. Hahn is a lesbian. Talk about sticking it to Isaiah Washington where it counts!

iheartizzie: Dr. Hahn's previous guest appearances were very solid, and I think the actress (Brooke Smith) does a great job. The only regrettable thing is Burke being gone - these college classmates had a great love-hate rapport, a begrudging mutual respect. It will be interesting to see Cristina work with Dr. Hahn.

AndYouveGotTheHair: Welcome. Looks like with Dr. Hahn and Lexie (Chyler Leigh) we're back up to an even dozen full-time cast members. That's a lot to find good stories and screen time for, but I do like Dr. Hahn and think she'll fit in well.

Sexy Sloan

2. We now have Nurses United Against Mark Sloan. What other types of clubs could be formed to rally against (or for) other characters on the show?

iheartizzie: The I Got Syph From Olivia Club. Although word has it this club's server has already crashed twice from so many people logging on at once.

McCritic: Loyal and Dedicated Husbands Against George O'Malley.

AndYouveGotTheHair: Men and Women United in Awe of McDreamy's Hair.

3. For the first time in awhile, we got a glimpse into the personal life of Dr. Miranda Bailey. Do you want to see more of this?

AndYouveGotTheHair: I've been talking about the need for more Bailey on the show for weeks, and this insight into her personal life was an unexpected wrinkle. I'm glad the writers did it, because she's too good not to have more depth.

McCritic: Yes. It makes sense we rarely see the Miranda behind the Dr. Bailey. But this character has the biggest heart on the show. It's intriguing to see how she balances such generosity between her life-saving professional requirements and the demands of a loving husband and adorable newborn at home.

iheartizzie: Dr. Bailey is awesome. She's the go-to resident, regardless of Callie's title. But given her commitment to Seattle Grace, and the lack of attention her home life receives, I've wondered if she is headed down the same road as Richard on a personal level. This week was the first time this has been explored.

4. Diagnose the chemistry between Alex and Ava.

McCritic: Hot and heavy, with a chance for perpetual bliss if treated with proper care.

iheartizzie: Latent, but palpable. If Ava gives Alex the proper medication (a kick in the rear end), hopefully his symptoms of trepidation will be cured!

AndYouveGotTheHair: Breaking out! Someone give this girl 50 CCs of Karev, STAT! Body temperatures will be rising in the on-call room next week!

Alex

Round Table: "The Heart of the Matter"

While fans gather in our forum to discuss their beloved character and story lines, the Grey's Anatomy Insider staff comes together to talk about their highlights, gripes and opinions regarding the most recent episode of TV's best show.

Round Table discussion topics for "The Heart of the Matter" range from Cristina's fragile emotional state, to George's confession and newcomer Lexie ...

1. Was Richard right to honor Camille's wishes?

McCritic: Yes. Like Texas Hold 'Em, patient care cannot be based on emotion. As her doctor, Richard had no choice but to abide by his niece's desire for a pain-free remaining few months of life. It's tough, but no one said being a doctor - or the President of the United States - was easy.

iheartizzie: Richard did the right thing in dealing with Camille, weighing his role as a surgeon with the compassion of a caring uncle. With a nuanced portrayal of  that internal conflict, James Pickens, Jr. again proved he's one of the best in the business, despite being overshadowed by his more famous fellow cast members.

AndYouveGotTheHair: I felt bad for Camille and her whole family, but I don't think Richard had much of a choice. I was also saddened by Adele's response.

The Family Matters

2. When will Callie forgive George?

iheartizzie: Sometime around Beer-thirty. Callie just needs to loosen up and knock back a few with George at Joe's. They'll hug it out and that will be that.

McCritic: It's hard to say. Either half past infinity, or a quarter to never!

AndYouveGotTheHair: I don't think she will. This relationship wasn't exactly stable to begin with, and even though he said he slept with Izzie - rather than in love with Izzie - I don't see O'Callie recovering from this incident.

3. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote of the night?

AndYouveGotTheHair: Derek's speech to Meredith. He doesn't want 48 uninterrupted hours... he wants a lifetime. How can she resist!?

McCritic: Izzie being labeled a "traitorous bitch." Well said, Callie. Although I would've added "emotional, selfish train wreck," as well.

iheartizzie: Alex's bitter (and justified) reaction to Izzie's confession. Harsh, yes, but certainly honest and revealing. Karev is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

4. Norman the old intern: Haplessly charming or annoyingly inept?

McCritic: Haplessly charming. As long as I'm never a patient under his care.

iheartizzie: I can handle the Big N (look how he towers over Ellen Pompeo in the pic below) in small doses, but he is annoyingly inept... and takes screen time away from some of the principal cast members (Bailey) who don't get enough.

AndYouveGotTheHair: Haplessly charming. He means well. "'Sup, Lexie?" Come on, how can you not like him? At least a little.

Meredith and Norman

5. Will Meredith give Derek what he wants?

AndYouveGotTheHair: Yes, eventually. But she had better get a move on, lest he go looking elsewhere for it while she's waffling. Come on, girl!

McCritic: No. He's picked picked her, chosen her, loved her... and it's still not enough. This relationship is more one-sided than a matchup of the Dillon Panthers and New England Patriots.

iheartizzie: There was a time (I believe Season 2) where Meredith was willing to give him her whole life, and then he chose Addison. But he came around. How is it not enough for her now? Do you really only want what you can't have?

Round Table: "Let the Truth Sting"

While fans gather in our forum to discuss each character and story line, the Grey's Anatomy Insider staff members come together each week to share their favorite moments, thoughts and opinions regarding the latest episode.

Round Table discussion topics for "Let the Truth Sting" range from Cristina's fragile emotional state, to George's confession and newcomer Lexie ...

1. Deepest cut of the night: Mark and Richard on that lady's tongue, Alex outing George in the elevator, or Bailey from all story lines?

McCritic: I thought Isaiah Washington outed George already. But seriously, folks, gotta go with Alex. I know he has a hard edge, but I'd hoped the guy had matured. That was being mean for the fun of it, the opposite of what Bailey had just instructed.

iheartizzie: The tongue. They took out, what, 60 percent? That's more than the percentage of George's manhood Alex stripped away with that verbal swipe.

AndYouveGotTheHair: Not sure I understand the question, but I would like to see new Bailey stories. Throughout Season 3 and this year, she's just sort of there. Stuck being Bailey. She's still awesome, but spice it up a little, writers.

2. Do you like Lexie Grey?

iheartizzie: I like Lexie. Sure, she's hung up on Meredith, but wouldn't you be? Plus, the girl's mom just died and she's brand new. Let her get her bearings and soon enough, effervescent Lexie will Grace Seattle with her presence each week.

McCritic: Kind of. She's better looking than Meredith, but seems equally self- absorbed. It's fine to have family issues, Lexie, but try to remain professional inside the ER at least.

AndYouveGotTheHair: Undecided. Too soon to tell. I'm still willing to give her a chance, so long as she doesn't get romantically involved with Derek.

Sexy Lexie

3. When will Cristina really get over Burke?

AndYouveGotTheHair: I'm not sure there will be a clearly defined moment. It could happen when she's got a new love interest, or just fade gradually. I don't blame her, though. That was quite an ordeal... and I miss Burke, too!

McCritic: We'll never know. That icy exterior is too hard to read.

iheartizzie: Two words: Open heart surgery.

4. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote of the episode?

McCritic: "Just say it," Calliope Torres. The sad, exhausted pleading from Callie at the end of the hour pretty much summed up how I've felt about the George / Izzie affair for months now. Say it, end it, let's move on, people.

iheartizzie: Cristina Yang, sarcastically mocking Alex (who had been mocking her): "I'm not pretending. I'm sad. I'm very sad. Me so sad!" Priceless.

AndYouveGotTheHair: There were a lot of good quotes this week. I liked Meredith's closing narrative as well as Izzie's goodbye to Really Old Guy. Both spoke volumes as to what these characters are going through.

Sad EyesShe

5. Looking ahead to this Thursday's new episode, "The Heart of the Matter," give us your odds on the impending Izzie-Callie fight.

AndYouveGotTheHair: Hmm. This would be a tough one, but I think someone will intervene at the last minute and they won't actually come to blows.

McCritic: Izzie -380 (bet $380 to win $100). Callie has the size and reach advantage over the home-wrecking blonde. But Izzie is insane. Downright loony. Never underestimate the power of emotion in a fight.

iheartizzie: Callie -150. Trailer park schmailer park. Hell hath no fury like a woman with huge arms. Or one who is scorned. Izzie goes down in Round 3.

Round Table Discussion: "Love/Addiction"

While fans gather in our forum to discuss each character and story line, the Grey's Anatomy Insider staff members come together each Friday to talk about the key moments and developments and share random thoughts from each episode.

Our Round Table discussion topics for "Love/Addiction" range from Callie's job security to the return of Mama Burke, to the new and improved Mark Sloan ...

Calliope

1. Should Bailey take over for Callie as Chief Resident?

McCritic: No. It's far more entertaining to watch the wanna-be boss squirm for power. Someone needed to hit Alex last night, if only for that goatee.

iheartizzie: Richard may have been serious when he said Bailey's skills are better utilized in the OR, but he didn't figure Calliope would be incompetent. Balancing personal problems with work is part of the game, baby. Time to step aside and let Miranda run the show with the drive she's always exemplified.

AndYouveGotTheHair: No disrespect to Bailey, but I think Callie has gotten a raw deal so far this year. I mean, Alex gets assaulted and she takes the blame? Sure, she's accountable, but so is he, and the drug dealer was the one that threw the punch! Give Dr. Torres some time to adjust to this new role.

2. Sex and mockery: recipe for disaster?

iheartizzie: It works well for me. I've found some good-natured ridicule after doing the deed can break the ice and take the focus off my poor performance.

AndYouveGotTheHair: Ah, the friends with benefits scenario. It's so great for like two weeks, until one of the people involved wants more out of it than the other. Which you know will happen and choose to ignore. Never ends well.

McCritic: Only if the mockery is in regard to the sex.

3. So Mark Sloan is apparently the Seattle Grace voice of reason now. What miraculous character transformation would you like to see next?

AndYouveGotTheHair: Lexie Grey getting transferred to Mercy West. I know that doesn't count as a character transformation but I don't care!

McCritic: Meredith asking for cheese with her beer. Not her whine.

iheartizzie: Cristina Yang becoming a grief counselor. Or Richard becoming a marriage counselor. Or Derek becoming a Just For Men spokesperson.

The Voice of Reason

4. Should Mama Burke become a series regular?

McCritic: No. There's no place for a mature, honest woman on this show.

iheartizzie: Yes. Mama's appearance last night showed just how badly some of these whippersnappers need a good tongue-lashing. Bailey can't possibly keep a band of self-absorbed, incompetent interns and residents in line all by herself (although her rant against Alex was pretty stellar). Help her out, Mama.

AndYouveGotTheHair: Diahann Carroll is fabulous as Mama Burke, but what would keep her in Seattle? What would tie her to these characters with Preston gone? The cast is already so big anyway. It wouldn't work. Now, something tells me she'd be great as a recurring character on, say, Bionic Woman ...

5. More futile: Richard's attempt to delegate, or George's attempt to grow a spine?

AndYouveGotTheHair: Chief. After that passionate speech to Adele at the end of last season, he's still back at work? Man is a workaholic.

McCritic: Richard. George's problem hasn't been growing a spine. It's been the growing of a different body part, if you know what I mean.

iheartizzie: At least Richard is aware of his own futility, which is caused in large part by his enormous level of responsibility. George has bungled his way into an unhappy marriage, a scandalous affair and repeating his intern year. No spinal column.

Round Table: "A Change is Gonna Come"

Grey's Anatomy Insider is happy to announce the return of the Round Table!

While fans gather in our forum to discuss each character and story line, our staff members will come together each Friday to analyze key moments, developments and thoughts from each Grey's Anatomy episode.

Topics for "A Change is Gonna Come" range from Ms. Lexie Grey to Alex's new look, to some of the night's dramatic rescues and what we felt was missing ...

1. Should Derek be Mark's friend?

Derek ShepherdMcCritic: Yes. Mark knows how to reattach body parts. Maybe he could show Derek how to grow some ... you know.

iheartizzie: Hells no. Homeboy slept with Addison and tried to get Meredith in the sack. Don't buy the "it's just Mark" defense. Guy is bad news. Sexy, though.

AndYouveGotTheHair: Ideally, no, but with Burke and Addison gone and Meredith a little spacey at times, he's gotta hang with someone. I really miss Burke.

2. He said "I love you, too," but do George and Izzie stand a chance?

iheartizzie: Regardless of how you feel about O'Mizzie as a couple, their cover hasn't been blown yet. The surely negative backlash they face is going to put an entirely different spin on things, I believe.

AndYouveGotTheHair: I know I'm in the minority, but I don't despise these two as a couple. There is good chemistry there, great acting on behalf of both Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight. Sure, George is married and Callie hasn't done anything to deserve this, but you can't control who you fall for. George clearly wants to do the right thing... he just doesn't know what that is, it seems.

McCritic: Not if there's a God in heaven. Or a writer with a quarter of a brain.

3. Save of the Day: Derek / Cristina with the spinal cord patient, Izzie with the deer, or Lexie with George's psyche?

AndYouveGotTheHair: You have to hand it to the new Ms. Grey on this one. Without going over the line with someone she doesn't even know, she got George to stop whining in a way that really was kind of awesome.

McCritic: Lexie. It's nice to see one Grey sister can worry about more than just herself. (Note to Meredith lovers: BRING IT!)

iheartizzie: Gotta go with Isobel. While it was the least remarkable in terms of skill (how much research does it take to deliver a massive electric shock), that deer was the cutest of the creatures needing saving. George has nothing on a real-life Bambi. Also, how great was Izzie's reaction when it worked?

Oh, Deer!

4. Alex's facial hair: Yay or Nay?

McCritic: A stronger "Nay" than the answer a horse gives when asked if he wants to visit the glue factory.

iheartizzie: Eh?

AndYouveGotTheHair: Yay!

5. What was your least favorite part of the premiere?

AndYouveGotTheHair: The way Lexie chose to drop the latest bomb on Mer. In the middle of a medical crisis! As if anyone would be so self-absorbed as to do that. Then again, her surname is Grey ...

McCritic: The status of the Chief and his relationship with Adele. Didn't he realize last season he needed to dedicate himself to his marriage? Didn't these two make up during the best moment of the season finale? Wasn't there a drawn-out story line focused on his replacement?

iheartizzie: The episode's title. Instead of "A Change is Gonna Come," they missed a great opportunity to go with "Change is Gonna Come... Out of That Dude's Abdomen!" Come on, Shonda. There was, what, $2.35 in there?

Round Table: Some Kind of Miracle

This week on the Round Table, Miranda stirs Chief Resident talk, Izzie and Callie spar (again), Mark swears off sex (really) and Mer gets a little help from the dead in findin the will to live ...

Will Mark last 60 days?

Mark & Derekiheartizzie: Hells. No. I don't think Mark Sloan means to be a bad friend or home-wrecker, but these things happen when your libido is twice the size of Seattle Grace Hospital. You can't teach an old, mustachioed, sex-crazed dog new tricks, people.

Married-to-McDreamy: Yes. I actually do think that he will. I think that he is crazy about Addison (with good reason!) and I think he'll do what it takes.

The only potential problem will be if Addison leaves Seattle Grace for this mysterious new job that we're hearing about...

McCritic: Probably. But someone better hide Olivia from this sex-crazed doctor. And everyone else in Seattle Grace might wanna check their legs periodically for signs of Mark humping.

Which character would you want to come back more: Denny or Dylan?

Kyle Chandler

Married-to-McDreamy: Dylan! That man is so very attractive (sorry, iheartizzie). Who can resist a guy in a bomb squad uniform?

McCritic: Dylan. Denny is a really nice guy and everything, but Dylan saves lives.

With bombs such as the Callie/George marriage and the fight for Chief Resident waiting to explode, we're gonna need someone who knows how to dismantle these devices under pressure.

iheartizzie: TV needs more Denny Duquette. Slightly rugged, drippingly charismatic and full of sage advice. This man needs his own show! Dylan Young has already found is true calling as a West Texas high school football coach. We want more Denny, Shonda Rhimes!

Who will remain in George's life longer, Izzie or Callie?

McCritic: Callie. The vows say until "death do us part," right? Unless Shonda and company have another brain freeze and lamely pretend to kill off another character, the mainstays seem safe for awhile. Izzie better get used to it.

Izzie StevensMarried-to-McDreamy: Hmm. This is a tough one. I actually think they both will. Izzie is a good friend, even if she doesn't always handle herself appropriately, and Callie will be a good wife, even if they got off to a rather unusual start.

iheartizzie: Isobel. George even admitted, in the midst of telling the brash Dr. Stevens to back off, that he might have made a mistake. Not a good sign.

Let's just hope Izzie realizes that sometimes, the best way to be there for her BFF is to let him figure his own problems out.

Will Miranda be named Chief Resident?

iheartizzie: Do I heart Izzie? Is the Pope Catholic? Does Patrick Dempsey have the best head of hair in Hollywood?

McCritic: Yes. Maybe not today, and maybe not tomorrow. But someday, and for the rest of her life.

Married-to-McDreamy: Definitely! Dr. Bailey was running the show in that room when they were trying to revive Meredith. Where was that chirpy other woman? Oh right. Standing in the waiting room with a clipboard. No contest.

Did you ever stop believing Meredith would pull through?

Married-to-McDreamy: No. I knew she'd pull through. I wish I did stop believing, though, as that probably would have made the show a little more captivating last night.

McCritic: No. She has too much grit, too much determination, too much of her name in the show's title to drop dead like that.

iheartizzie: Yes. As I said in last week's "Drowning On Dry Land" edition of the Round Table, Meredith had lost the will to go on. I wasn't sure she could recover that as easily as she could make Doc appear out of thin air. Luckily, Denny and Ellis helped our girl come to her senses, just in time.

Meredith and Denny

Round Table: Drowning On Dry Land

This week on the Round Table, the interns frantically try to mitigate and cope with the fallout from the ferry wreck, while Meredith (at least temporarily) enters the great beyond ...

Izzie's speech: inspirational or inappropriate?

Isobel Stevens, M.D., Rock Stariheartizzie: Izzie does it. She speaks her mind and she follows her gut. The result is not always pretty, but it's part of who she is. Most of the time, that's a wonderful person. This time, George is rightfully going to be livid at his BFF - and maybe even wish this website was correct in its Death Watch prediction.

Married-to-McDreamy: Inappropriate. I know that people often say strange things in a time of grief, but why choose that moment to tell George that she doesn't approve of his new marriage? Poor George is a fragile man and Izzie was just kicking him when he was down with that proclamation.

McCritic: Let's ask George: Hey, O'Malley, do you feel better about the odds of your friend surviving now that you know Izzie disapproves of your marriage? What? Speak up, we can't hear you over the sobs.

Is this the start of a rekindled friendship between Derek and Mark?

Married-to-McDreamy: I think it might be! I loved that scene in which Mark sat down next to Derek in the hallway. We need many, many more scenes in which Derek and Mark hold hands.

McCritic: Mark isn't the Devil. He's just insecure, probably was very jealous of the marriage Derek and Addison enjoyed. That's no excuse for sticking his chiseled abs into their business, but it's also no reason why he can't be sincere in his current sympathy. Not sure Derek can ever trust Mark as a reliable friend, though.

iheartizzie: Mark doesn't need his $400/hour shrink to tell him he has some self-destructive insecurity issues, and we don't need one to see that beneath the surface, he knows he royally screwed up his friendship with Derek and wishes he could have it back. These two were like family. Time heals all wounds. Let's bury the steamy, dreamy hatchet once and for all.

How soon before Addison and Alex get together?

Alex Karev

Married-to-McDreamy: Not soon enough, if you ask me! The sparks between those two are truly something. I predict some major Addisex in the next episode.

McCritic: With every AA meeting, these two seem to come closer and closer. I'd say they're about 12 steps away from ending up in bed together. First, they must admit how powerless they are over their emotions.

iheartizzie: He'd notice if she disappeared, ladies and gentlemen. For macho Alex Karev, this is as close to a profession of undying love as you're likely to get. And he said he wasn't into her - what a smooth operator. Paging Addison Montgomery to the on-call room, STAT!

Will Meredith die?

Married-to-McDreamy: Absolutely not. It's ridiculous to think they will kill off the main character. I do, however, hope that when Meredith does wake up she learns a valuable lesson from this: perhaps if she weren't so skinny, she wouldn't have gotten hypothermia. Oh stop. I'm kidding. I know the woman eats like a horse and can't help her weight. We've all read the interviews. Anyway, no, Meredith Grey will live. And hopefully eat something.

McCritic: No. But my patience with a story line of forced drama, lacking any suspense because there's no way the show's title character will ever perish, has a short shelf life.

iheartizzie: Yes. She just doesn't want it bad enough. Ever since we first got to know her, Meredith has been a fighter. But lately, as evidenced by the bathtub scene to begin "Walk On Water," she's been morose. Lifeless.

To graduate from Dartmouth College, Meredith would be required to obtain a swimming P.E. credit (a fan and fellow alumna points out). So there's no way our girl can't swim. And, as the map below shows, the water in Puget Sound is currently 46 degrees - really cold, but not paralyzingly so for an able-bodied woman only a few feet from shore.

Meredith at Sea

She's lost the desire to go on, and the only hope now is Denny. Perhaps during their brief meeting in the afterlife (which looks a lot like Seattle Grace), he can help her see a different light - and recapture the will to live. Incidentally, what is Coach Eric Taylor from Dillon, Tx., doing there?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan as DennyKyle Chandler on

Round Table: Wishin' and Hopin'

This week on the Round Table, the Denny Duquette Clinic opens, Mark reverts to his steamy ways, the O'Callie marriage faces its first test, and Meredith feels anything but average ...

Did Izzie just waste $8,000,000?

McCritic: In terms of patient care, definitely. A safe sex brochure costs about 40 cents. But Dr. Stevens managed to beat out Mike Tyson and MC Hammer for quickest use of $8 million. She averaged a cool million/day in order to construct that free clinic. That mark should stand for longer than Denny lived.

Isobel Stevens

JuJuSage:

Hospital bed: $200
Box of surgical masks (size medium): $40
Saving one motherless girl from teenage pregnancy and STDs: Priceless.

iheartizzie: It's too early to tell. Having established the organization a whole eight days ago, there hasn't been time to wage a serious marketing effort. Have no fear. The clinic will one day be a resounding hit with the STD-ridden, possibly pregnant populace. The only problem may be if the budget doesn't allot for a bouncer. Once word gets around that hotties like Drs. Karev and Stevens are on staff, the line will be out the door!

Healthier course of action: Taking a cold shower or sleeping with Mark Sloan?

JuJuSage: COLD SHOWER! You'd think that with Addison's track record with men, she'd be able to play the game by now. Come on Addison, you're not THAT old! You remember how 20-something boys behave - play the game and win Karev. Don't take the consolation prize. You already made that mistake once.

McCritic: A cold shower. And to think, all Addison had to do to learn such a lesson was walk a few feet over to the Denny Duquette free clinic. Miranda would have given her the same speech about va jay-jay use that the 14-year old girl received.

iheartizzie: Mark Sloan. It's not like she married the guy, or didn't abort his baby. The Mark Sloans of the world are paradoxical: abhorrent, yet irresistable. Trusting one of them emotionally would be a grave mistake, but why deprive one's self of the pleasure derived from an occasional fling? Plus, cold water doesn't clean out your pores.

Is Meredith ordinary?

Meredith Grey: Anything But OrdinaryJuJuSage: Yes, Meredith is ordinary. She is smart, kind, and hard-working, all of which are great qualities, but none of which make her extraordinary. Who cares though? If being extraordinary means being like Ellis Grey, then being ordinary and having a great career, a loving boyfriend, friends, and Joe's down the street, seems like a pretty great ordinary life.

And at least every morning she gets to wake up next to extraordinary hair...

McCritic: Of course not. She has a show named after her. Then again, so does George Lopez. Ellis Grey might be on to something ...

iheartizzie: She sure is, and that's why we love her (well, at least two thirds of this panel does). Meredith's vulnerabilities, emotional shortcomings and bad decisions are part of what makes her human. Plus, there's a thing called balance. Maybe she's not cutthroat enough when it comes to her career, and she's certainly a handful for the men in her life. But at least she has men in her life. Give her a break, Ellis!

Will the O'Malley marriage last?

iheartizzie: Of course. For all their emotional shortcomings, these two are made for each other. The sparks flew from the moment George flew down the stairs and landed in arms (which wrenched his dislocated shoulder back into place). It will be a bumpy ride at times, but now that George stood up to his McJudgy friends, Callie can rest easy - unless that sex machine Bambi keeps her up all night, of course.

McCritic: Yes. Once you move past the Britney Spears/Jason Alexander Las Vegas marriage duration of 52 hours, you're set for life. George and Callie might as well order matching sets of rocking chairs right now.

JuJuSage: In Greek history, Iphigenia was sacrificed by her father, Agamemnon, before he went to battle in the Trojan War. Is Calliope Iphigenia Torres O'Malley sacrificing herself into marriage on behalf of the grief caused by George's father? Even more intriguing is the reason Agamemnon sacrifices Iphigenia in the first place: to win back Helen of Troy, the most coveted woman in the world.

We all know who George has most coveted at Seattle Grace - will this marriage somehow lead him to her? If it's any indication on the O'Malley marriage, when Agamemnon sacrificed Iphigenia, he wos Helen…

The O'Malleys

Round Table: Great Expectations

This week on the Round Table, Richard is rebuffed, Addisex takes a step back, the race for Chief is on, and a couple of very serious questions are popped ...

Besides the ineligible Dr. Bailey, who would make the best Chief: Derek, Preston, Addison or Mark?

Addison and IzzieMcCritic: Derek. Now that he's learned how to be McScreamy, as well, Shepherd has the perfect combination of strictness, kindness and professionalism to handle the job well. And hair. The man has hair that simply won't quit.

Married-to-McDreamy: I vote for Addison. Clearly Derek and Preston have too many ego issues that would get in the way of either leading the surgical department with a clear head, and Mark just hasn't been there long enough.

Addison, on the other hand, is a strong, professional woman and it would be terrific to see a female take over that position.

iheartizzie: Mark's only out for himself, Burke blew his chance by disguising his hand tremor, and Derek isn't hardened enough. The only knock on Addison Montgomery is personal - she's an adulterer. So was Bill Clinton, though, and there's a good bet Americans would elect him over George W. Bush now if given the opportunity. Just saying.

Was Alex serious about not being into Addison, or just saying that to get back on the vagina squad?

Married-to-McDreamy: That was completely and utterly false. Alex just wants back in on Addison's surgeries and I think it's pretty clear that he was into her when they had their "moments" on the previous episodes. Alex knows what he's doing in this situation. Before we know it, Addison will be crawling after him.

Playing it Cool

McCritic: The latter. But he doesn't wanna be in gynecology, no.

iheartizzie: I think Karev is hedging his bets here. He sees how thrown off Addison is, so by playing it cool, at least he gets to scrub in. He definitely still wants her, but there's no sense in playing your hand too soon and losing both the surgeries and the McHot doctor, you know?

Will Adele come around and welcome Richard home?

Married-to-McDreamy: I hope so. That was very sad when Richard was left on the front porch with his little bouquet. My guess is that she'll make him sweat a little but then eventually let him come home and explain that he really screwed up.

McCritic: Adele if I know.

iheartizzie: Man I hope so. We weren't shown how hard it must have been for the Chief to announce his retirement from the institution that has been his life for so many years, but it couldn't have been easy. Even if it took him far too long, he made this decision for Adele. They've got at least 20 good years left, and hopefully, Mrs. Webber will realize they should spend them together. And let Richard work a few days a week.

So we saw two marriage proposals in "Great Expectations." Which, if any, will be accepted?

iheartizzie: Like the aforementioned Bill Clinton, I will look to my most trusted guide before stating my position - the polls. As of this posting, 52 percent of Insider respondents feel only Cristina and Preston will wed, while another 14 percent think we'll see both couples walk down the aisle. So, Burktina it is, then! Still, you can't count out that George O'Malley. Smart, sensitive and a sex machine!

McCritic: Callie looked more comfortable cutting a conscious man's leg in half than she did looking down at a proposing George. Cristina, conversely, looked stern, judgmental and completely unaffected. In other words, she's thrilled. Schedule the Burktina wedding now.

Married-to-McDreamy: I truly hope that Cristina accepts Burke's proposal but I do not think O'Callie should tie the knot. Not yet at least. I think George is overly emotional and making drastic decisions because of his grief.
