Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Derek and Addison?

After seeing a new promo, many fans are wondering if Derek and Addison really kiss in next week's crossover event, in which the worlds of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice collide for the first time since 2007's "backdoor pilot" that spawned the spinoff?

Well, worried Grey's Anatomy fans can officially step away from the ledge, as E! Online cites a source saying Addison and Derek DO NOT kiss despite the misleading promo below.

The alleged kiss is about 18 seconds in. Stupid Shonda and her mind games.

Despite appearances, the source says of Addison and Derek: "No, there's no kiss. They are still just friends. There is no romance between them in the crossover episode."

Instead, the romance comes from Derek plotting his proposal to Meredith, and Lexie and Mark going public ... and possible flirtations betwen Callie and Arizona.

Check out our photo gallery for some cool pictures from the episode, which promises more than a little drama and intrigue! Sneak preview(s) to come shortly...

"Beat Your Heart Out" Promo, Air Date

Private Practice has already moved to the same night as its "parent" series, Grey's Anatomy. But a week from Thursday, February 5, will mark an unprecedented development for both as two of TV's top dramas join forces in a much-anticipated crossover event.

Grey's Anatomy is off next week, while Private Practice is airing a new episode, entitled "Second Chances." Then on February 5, Addison seeks Derek's help to treat her brother, Archer, as the preview for the next new Grey's, "Beat Your Heart Out," shows.

Also, could Derek be popping the question?! Just 13 more days ...

Grey's Anatomy-Private Practice Spoilers: Mark & Addison Reunite; Meredith & Derek Engaged?

TV Guide has the details on the February 12 and February 19 episodes of Grey's Anatomy, in which Private Practice characters Sam, Naomi, Addison and her brother Archer visit Seattle Grace after learning of Archer's serious brain condition.

Archer (Grant Show) first returns to Oceanside the previous episode, February 5. Looks like Addison and Mark will reprise their old ways - or at least flirt a bit in one episode.

Also, as reader Nikki points out, note the use of the term "fiance" below - are Meredith and Derek getting engaged? Will the proposal happen between now and February 12?

Did Co-Star Contribute to Kate Walsh Divorce Drama?

Take this with a grain (or even a boulder) of salt, given that it comes from celeb gossip magazine Star, but a new rumor suggests that Kate Walsh's connection with her Private Practice co-star, David Sutcliffe (as SWAT officer Kevin Nelson, below), may have contributed to her impending divorce from husband Alex Young, which we reported last week.

Follow the link above for the full report. Here's hoping Kate is handling the split okay, regardless of its cause, and we look forward to seeing her Grey's Anatomy crossover episode(s) this Spring!

Sandra Oh Talks Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice

As we've talked about a couple of times, a multi-episode crossover between Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice is planned for February, and Grey’s Anatomy star Sandra Oh is talking to People about who’s coming and who’s going.

“Crossover crazy!” Oh said of executive producer Shonda Rhimes’ plans to cross-pollinate the casts of her medical drama and its sophomore spin-off early in 2009.

Kate Walsh’s Dr. Addison Montgomery - who split from Seattle Grace to launch the spin-off and made one return trip last spring - is expected back in her old OR.

Interestingly, Oh revealed that Patrick Dempsey’s Dr. Derek Shepherd (a.k.a. McDreamy) will likely be making the trek to California's Oceanside Wellness Center.

“It has to do with Addison,” she said. “I think the Chief is going to visit, too,” she added, perhaps suggesting some unfinished business between Addison and Seattle Grace’s head of staff, Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.).

Oh also has a suggestion for the writers in case they want to send her character to Ocean Wellness Center to hook up with a handsome doctor.

Grey's Anatomy-Private Practice Crossover Episode(s) Planned

TV Guide reports this morning that Grey's Anatomy and its spin-off, Private Practice, will be embarking on a multi-episode crossover story for February sweeps.

Though at this very early stage the number of episodes and the sum total of actors involved has yet to be nailed down, it can at least be confirmed that Kate Walsh's character, Dr. Addison Montgomery will again be walking the halls of Seattle Grace.

Addison returned for one episode late in Season Four after leaving the Grey's Anatomy cast for the sunny skies of L.A. and Private Practice after Season Three.

She is So Back!

What brings Addison (Kate Walsh) back to Seattle this time?

Who from Seattle Grace might show their face at Oceanside Wellness? Walsh personally cast her vote for Mark Sloan, saying, "It'd be fun to have him cause some trouble!"

That said, the actual list of involved cast members from each show, besides Walsh, is unconfirmed. Who would you like to see - and under what premise?

Kate Walsh: Lots of Drama and Sex on Private Practice

This is not Grey's Anatomy news, but here's a little info on its spin-off, which you may know is preparing to kick off its second season.

Get ready to see former Seattle Grace surgeon Addison Montgomery’s wilder side when Private Practice returns October 1. So says Kate Walsh.

“There are some good lovers happening,” Kate Walsh told People magazine Saturday in L.A. “There’s a lot of action in L.A. it turns out!”

Walsh, whose character was no stranger to love triangles on Grey’s Anatomy, gets to be the center of attention this time as Dr. Pete Wilder (Tim Daly) and hunky SWAT officer Kevin Nelson (David Sutcliffe) vie for her heart.

K-Dubz

It's exciting stuff. But will Kate Walsh let her husband of about a year, Alex Young, watch those steamy scenes? That she's not so sure about.

“I don’t know. He’ll probably watch when I’m not home,” she says. But she promises not all the action will be between the sheets.

“I think you’re going to see some conflict within the practice itself too, and a lot more surgery, so it’s just very exciting,” she says.

“The scripts this season are so good, there’s a lot of action, it’s a lot of drama ...” And yes, of course, “a lot of sex!”

Looks like the planned Seattle Grace love-fest has company!

Would You Want Addison Back Full-Time?

Several TV sites and message boards have broached the (hypothetical) topic of Shonda Rhimes and the producers of Grey's Anatomy bringing back Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) as permanent fixture at Seattle Grace Hospital again.

One theory behind such a move is that the spin-off, Private Practice, isn't called "Addison's Practice," and that she may actually be better suited to Seattle Grace. Another theory is that Private Practice is destined to go in the tank.

If Private Practice were to go under, we can't see why they wouldn't want Addison back on Grey's Anatomy, but seeing as Private Practice was doing fairly well ratings-wise (what you may think of it personally is another matter), it's unlikely.

She is So Back!

Many fans believe Addison's IQ dropped in half the minute she signed on at the Oceanside Wellness Center and loved her Grey's Anatomy cameo this spring. But Private Practice still had some success in its first year, at least on paper.

One unanswered question is whether it can recover from lost momentum after a terribly long hiatus. Not only did Private Practice not return from the writers' strike in spring, not a single repeat aired during or since. What does the future hold?

Whoops! Kate Walsh's On-Set Mishap

As if the constant presence of paparazzi wasn't bad enough, former Grey's Anatomy star Kate Walsh had a bit of a mishap the other day on the set.

While filming a scene for her hit spin-off Private Practice, Walsh was victimized by a sudden gust of wind ... you can see where this is going.

Private (Practice) Parts

Like a pro, Kate reacted by reaching back and holding her clothing down so as not to prolong an embarrassing moment. Then she laughed it off!
