Will Melissa George Return to Grey's Anatomy?

With the Grey's Anatomy cast shedding members left and right, is there any chance that the lovely Melissa George could return as Sadie Harris in Season Six?

"I don't think so," Melissa tells E! Online of a possible return engagement for Sadie on Grey's Anatomy. "I think she did so much damage that she needs to go."

Sadie, who was introduced as a Seattle Grace intern and old friend of Meredith Grey, was one of several characters to be dropped from the series last season.

Justin Chambers Wants T.R. Knight to Stay on Grey's Anatomy

Is he staying? Is he going?

The debate goes on (and on, and on). But you can count Justin Chambers among those who don't want T.R. Knight to leave the cast of Grey's Anatomy.

"T.R. is an amazing actor and I want him to be there as long as I'm on there," said Chambers, who plays Dr. Alex Karev on Grey's Anatomy, to E! Online the other night at the Salvatore Ferragamo benefit for L'Aquila Earthquake victims. "He's wonderful to work with."

Besides, T.R.'s character, Dr. George O'Malley, has so much growing to do.

"That's one of the great things about the show," Justin Chambers said.

"All the characters have so much left to explore. From the beginning of the series, the audience followed these young interns coming into this hospital and now they're residents ... but they still have much more to learn as far as surgery, social skills and manners."

For her part, former Grey's Anatomy guest star Melissa George said she's not convinced that Knight is leaving the show he's been on since its 2005 premiere.

No matter what happens, she said, "He'll go on to bigger and better things."

Melissa George Leaving Grey's Anatomy

Shortly after Sunday's Golden Globes, Melissa George (Sadie) presented Entertainment Weekly with a doozy of a scoop: She's leaving Grey's Anatomy, STAT.

"It was my choice," the actress-slash-Golden Globe nominee (for In Treatment) confirmed at HBO's red-hot after-party, held poolside at the Beverly Hilton.

"My last day of work is Tuesday."

But lest we think this is yet another in a long line of rocky Grey's Anatomy exits (see also: Isaiah Washington, Brooke Smith, possibly T.R. Knight), George, who joined the ABC medical drama last November as Mer's maybe-gay BFF, is leaving on the best of terms.

Intern Sadie

"I love the show so much," she gushes. "I've made some beautiful friends. I love T.R. Knight. I love Patrick Dempsey, Justin Chambers ... I adore Ellen Pompeo. I think she's a strong, incredible woman. And Katherine Heigl is the most beautiful creature on Earth."

Then why leave?

Melissa George says she simply wants to "do something else." Already? Well, a Grey's Anatomy insider suggests that the parting of the ways was more mutual than simply the actress' choice.

Melissa George: My Days Are Numbered

Melissa George, who plays wild, dangerous and, it would appear, curious intern Sadie on Grey’s Anatomy, says co-star T.R. Knight has been doing “beautiful work” and seems “happy” on set - despite his recent request to be written off the hit show.

“He was at work yesterday in the best mood I’ve ever seen him,” she said when interviewed by People. “We were in a scene all day together.”

Still, she gets why Knight, who’s character Dr. George O’Malley has had little screen time this season, would ask to leave the ensemble Grey’s Anatomy cast.

“He’s a great actor,” she says. “But maybe, when you have talent, you want more.”

Sadie Up Close

Speaking of talent, while Grey's Anatomy was snubbed, Melissa George picked up a Golden Globe nomination for her work on HBO’s In Treatment on Thursday.

“I’m having the time of my life,” the 32-year-old Australian actress says. “It’s my first big nomination in this country. I just can’t believe it.”

As for Mer's old friend Sadie, who’s had some shocking scenes (cutting herself so the other interns can practice sewing her up, hitting on Sara Ramirez’s Callie Torres over slides of broken bones), George says her days at Seattle Grace are numbered.

“I think I’m going to do 8 [episodes] and that’s it,” she says. “We’ll see.”

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Callie and Arizona?

What is the deal with the love life of Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez)?

Hahn is out ... Sadie is possibly in ... Mark is always hanging around.

Well, according to the Los Angeles Times, Jessica Capshaw is joining Grey's Anatomy for a three-episode story arc as pediatrician Dr. Arizona Robbins, who comes to Seattle Grace to help Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) on a difficult surgical case.

That much isn't new - but now the word is that she's also going to share at least one kiss with Callie! Arizona will be a love interest for Callie for those episodes.

But what about Sadie (Melissa George) and the insinuation in last night's episode, "All By Myself," that Callie and Sadie might be heading toward a romance?

Sources say despite their initial flirtation, this will not really go anywhere. But that does not mean Sadie will be totally out of the love loop at Seattle Grace.

"She'll be having lots [of love interests]," Melissa George said. "Of course, it's Grey's Anatomy. Everybody loves everybody. The girls, the guys, everybody."

Melissa George Character Rewritten Amid Brooke Smith Firing

As we reported early this morning, sources confirmed that Brooke Smith, who plays Dr. Erica Hahn (a heart surgeon who recently realized she is gay), has been axed from the Grey's Anatomy cast. Brooke Smith sounded off on this to EW's Michael Ausiello.

You may have already seen this, but in the wake of Smith's surprise and sudden firing, insiders connected to the ABC series tell E! Online that some of the gay-themed story lines are being downplayed - and even erased from upcoming Grey's Anatomy scripts.

And that goes for the series' latest (and controversial) newcomer, Melissa George of Alias fame, who is set to join the medical drama this month ...

George-Smith

Melissa came on to the show as a bisexual character and love interest for Callie (Sara Ramirez), but a reliable insider says that's no longer in the cards, "They changed the script, and now she isn't. She starts off flirting with Callie but it never goes anywhere."

Melissa will portray Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) best friend - with a possible history - and a new intern at Seattle Grace. No word on how that will play out.

Grey's Anatomy included a prominent bisexual / lesbian storyline in Season Five in the blossoming (and complex) relationship between Hahn (Smith) and Callie (Ramirez). That storyline will end in this Thursday's episode, "Rise Up" - which will be Smith's last on the series.

"They don't really give her a goodbye," an ABC source says. "It ends rather abruptly."

Melissa George Discusses Grey's Anatomy Character, Sadie

Circle November 13 on your calendar as the day Alias' Melissa George debuts as Grey's Anatomy's newest intern, Sadie. The big question on many fans' minds, of course, remains whether Sadie's reported bisexuality and Meredith Grey have intersected.

TV sleuth Michael Ausiello attempts to get to the bottom of that in an interview with Melissa George, published today on Entertainment Weekly ...

Q: Tell me about Sadie.

Melissa George: I'm dying to find out more about her because her behavior is so interesting. She's a girl that walks on the wild side. She's very close with Meredith; they were best friends. They traveled around the world together. And when Meredith went to work at Seattle Grace, Sadie went to work at a morgue. I'm dying to know why she behaves so recklessly. Anyone who behaves like that has to have a lot of issues.

Q: For the record, is she bisexual or a lesbian?

Melissa George: She just takes anything - whatever walks in front of her. [Laughs] If it's a male, she'll go for it. If it's a female, she'll go for it. She doesn't think attraction should be [limited] by gender. I sort of look at people and go, "Wow, how do you live like that?" But she seems to get a thrill out of shocking people.

Sadie and Meredith

Q: Obvious question: Did Meredith Grey and Sadie "experiment" back in the day?

Melissa George: We don't know. But that's what's so intriguing: What happened between these two? It's brought up a lot [on the show], but we've never revealed what happened.

Q: But something happened.

Melissa George: I think so. There's a lot of [Mer-Sadie] dialogue like "Don't tell them what happened!" So, something did happen, but I'm not sure what. They obviously traveled together and were very close. Did they date? Did they not? Did something major happen to them that they swore they'd never discuss? It could be anything.

Melissa George to Play Spoiler For Callie-Erica?

The relationship between Callie and Erica took a back seat for much of this week's premiere, but the exchange at the end hinted at good things to come.

That is, unless a certain ex-Alias vixen has something to say about it.

Melissa George is in final negotiations to join the Grey's Anatomy cast as an intern with, an, um open mind. Or so Entertainment Weekly reports.

Melissa George

Michael Ausiello indicates that she's being groomed as a love interest for either Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) or Dr. Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith).

Rumor has it that Shonda Rhimes was so enamored with Melissa George that she tweaked her initial plans for the role - which reportedly involved her being a patient in just one episode.

It will be interesting to see if this has long-term potential.

The probable hiring caps a busy couple of weeks for Grey's Anatomy casting department - The L Word's Janina Gavankar and newcomer Brandon Scott will both be new interns and Battlestar Galactica's inimitable Mary McDonnell is on board, too.
