Actor Hopes To Live Another Season

In the parking lot of a restaurant near the home of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the actor was recently approached by one of his fans.Denny & Izzie

"My wife says you're dying, but you look healthy enough to me," the fan told Morgan.

"You can't die," the man's wife pleaded. "You're too cute to die!"

This conversation, hardly the first of its kind, elicited a good laugh from Morgan, who plays charming heart patient Denny Duquette on Grey's Anatomy. The character has emerged as a fan favorite as he woos the beautiful Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl, above) from his hospital bed while awaiting a transplant.

Not only are Morgan's services winning praise, but they are in high demand -- sometimes for roles that require him to actually stand up and walk, no less. He has appeared twice on the Showtime series Weeds as Mary-Louise Parker's dead husband (via home videos and flashbacks), and plays an MIA dad on the WB's Supernatural, which airs at 9 p.m. Thursdays. Somewhat like Denny, his character is a man targeted for death... only by evil forces.

Get to Know the Actor that Plays Denny

Alex may not wish to read a recent article in The Seattle Times. It profiles the actor behind Denny, a man waiting for a heart transplant that has captured the interest of Izzie.

Sandy Thomas, from Kirkland, has been a fan since the show hit the airways. She now has a very good reason to continue to turn in every night at 10 p.m.: her favorite actor, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, has a recurring role. Of course, Morgan also happens to be Thomas' son.

The Man Behind Denny

In addition to the Grey's Anatomy role, her son has a recurring part in another television show, Supernatural.

Morgan is a local. He went to Ben Franklin Elementary School, Rose Hill Junior High and was a 1984 graduate of Lake Washington High School.

"He didn't grow up wanting to be an actor," Thomas said. "He wanted to be a basketball star."

Instead, he went into acting and has a long list of television and movie credits. The surest sign of success in his chosen field?

"I haven't had to send him a check in years," Thomas said.

Tune in to this week's new episode to see if Izzie falls harder and harder for Thomas' talented son.

Natalie Cole Makes Unforgettable Appearance, Accident on Episode

From Seattle Grace to a real hospital, singer Natalie Cole experienced quite the guest starring role on our favorite show. The 55-year-old told E! that she broke her arm during filming, prompting staffers to scramble to her aid and call 911.

Classic Natalie Cole

Cole was treated and released, subsequently returning to the Los Angeles set to finish filming her scenes.

Grey's Anatomy producers are keeping quiet about the nature of this guest-starring role, but here are some theories:

  • She's the wife on whom Dr. Webber cheated with Ellis Grey
  • She's a patient Alex falls for
  • She's signing the national anthem before this season concludes with a Meredith vs. Addison steel cage match

Tune in Sunday nights at 10 p.m. on ABC and see!

O'Donnell Signs On For Eight Episodes

Coming Soon to Grey's Anatomy...Both Starpulse.com and Us Weekly are reporting that actor Chris O'Donnell has agreed to appear on Grey's Anatomy for eight episodes beginning this March.

O'Donnell will reportedly play a love interest of Izzie Stevens, which will surely lead to some friction between the blonde and fellow intern Alex Karev, her on-again, off-again beau.

The 35-year old Chicagoan rose to prominence in the early 1990s with roles in Fried Green Tomatoes, The Three Musketeers, School Ties, Scent of a Woman and a pair of Batman films. He never reached superstar status, however, taking on roles in fewer big-budget pictures since getting married in 1997. He and wife Caroline have three young children.

Most recently, O'Donnell appeared alongside Ben Kingsley in 2004's Kinsey, and starred in the FOX series "Head Cases," which lasted only two episodes.
