Jeffrey Dean Morgan Single Again

Mary-Louise Parker and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the co-stars of Weeds, have called it quits, months after reports that the couple was on shaky ground.

“We’re not together anymore,” Morgan told People at Monday’s Kabluey premiere at the L.A. Film Festival in Westwood. “Everything’s fine, but it just didn’t work out. Wrong time in both our lives.”

Morgan, 41, who won the hearts of millions of fans as Denny Duquette on Grey’s Anatomy, portrays the husband of Parker the Showtime series.

Parker has won widespread acclaim as Nancy Botwin, a housewife who starts selling drugs after Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character (Judah) dies.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan: SingleMary-Louise Parker

In his personal life, Morgan, who at one point was rumored to be dating Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice star Kate Walsh, says he has moved on, though he has not found a new girlfriend yet.

“I am a single guy,” he says. “I look for somebody with a sense of humor, someone that laughs at my bad jokes, and wants to have fun in life. That’s kind of the key.”

On Grey’s Anatomy, Morgan was one of the major focal points of Season 2 as the ailing heart patient who eventually fell in love with, and became engaged to, Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl). Denny later returned in Season 3 - in the afterlife - as Meredith nearly drowned.

Morgan and Parker were first seen together at a party in New York last December. On March 22 they attended opening night of the Broadway musical Curtains as a couple along with Parker’s 3-year-old son (with her ex, Billy Crudup), William.

Even though Morgan and Parker are no longer dating, he may still appear opposite Parker on Weeds in more flashback scenes.

“That could always pop up, you never know,” JDM says. “We’ll see.”

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Comes Back… Again!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is staying almost as busy in death as he was in life in the Grey’s Anatomy universe. The actor is returning on April 12 to headline the show’s latest recap special.

During a telephone chat last week, Morgan explained to TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello that this won’t be your standard clip show. He also says Grey’s didn’t jump the shark when Meredith went to heaven, and sets the record straight about the status of his rumored-to-be-dead Shonda Rhimes show…

Denny Duquette Returns! Again!TV Guide: How will this clip show be different?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan: They’re going to use me as an on-camera host. They’ve never done anything like that before. Usually it’s all voice-over. That’ll be interesting. I haven’t seen a script yet, so I’m kind of on pins and needles myself.

TV Guide: Rumor has it the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off killed your forthcoming war-correspondents drama. True?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan: I got a phone call from [Shonda Rhimes] the day before the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off (starring Kate Walsh) was announced, telling me it does not affect my show whatsoever. As far as I know, we’re going into production this summer for a mid-season replacement next year. The idea would be to do six or 13 episodes. I know everybody’s saying it’s on the back burner or dying a slow, painful death, but I don’t think that’s the case. Until I hear differently, we’re moving forward with it. I haven’t heard differently, and believe me, I’ve checked. I make sure that no one’s forgetting about me over here.

TV Guide: Looking back, how do you think Denny’s February-sweeps return turned out?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan: Shonda called me and said, “Would you be willing to come back?” And I, of course, said, “Yeah,” hung up the phone and “How?” became an immediate question. And I don’t think even she knew exactly how that was going to play itself out. I got the script about a week before I went out there to shoot it, and even then I was like, “Is this going to work?” It’s kind of a big jump from what they normally do, but I thought it was pulled off beautifully. I was really excited to do Denny again. I thought we put him to bed last year, so any chance I get to play him I’m a happy guy.

More on the Return of Denny Duquette

Last week, we talked about the glorious and perplexing news, courtesy of Michael Ausiello at TV Guide, that Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be reprising his role of Denny Duquette on Grey’s Anatomy.

Now, Kristin Veitch of E! Online has more on how Denny Duquette comes back to Grey’s, and shares with us a few juicy details of his return.

Jeffrey Dean MorganInside sources reveal the following pieces of information, which should put to rest some speculation while fueling even more:

  1. Denny does not appear in a flashback.
  2. Denny does not appear in a dream.
  3. It is Denny and not something kooky like his twin.
  4. Denny is not the only one we see.
  5. And for the record, the scene in which Denny appears will completely blow your mind.

Wow. That’s a lot to take in.

Needless to say, cancel any plans you might have for the next few Thursdays and make sure you check out what happens with our friends at Seattle Grace. Because everyone will be talking about the next few episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. Apparently, “Walk On Water” was only the beginning.

The Return of Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Jeffrey Dean MorganA source with close ties to Seattle Grace tells TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is returning to Grey’s Anatomy as Izzie’s late fiancé in an episode to air later this season.

Since Denny clearly passed away back in May, it seems safe to assume that he’ll appear in either a dream sequence or a newly created flashback.

Of course, if Shonda Rhimes wants to get really creative, she could read some of our fan suggestions on how (and if) Denny should come back to life.

TV Guide offers a few humorous options:

  • Kenny. Denny’s long-lost (and evil) twin. Just as Izzie is starting to feel get over Denny, her ill-fated soul mate’s brother shows up to reclaim the $8.7 million inheritance!
  • Ghost of Denny. At the opening ceremonies of the Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic, his spirit appears just in time to cut the ribbon. Poignant.
  • An Alien. Okay, so this isn’t the X-Files. But some of you may recall that while guest starring as Izzie’s love, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was also a regular on the WB series Supernatural. Katherine Heigl, for her part, once starred on Roswell. Think about it.

Can you think of any other possible scenarios - serious or crazy - that may bring our beloved Jeffrey Dean Morgan back to Grey’s Anatomy? Leave us a comment and share.

Denny Duquette One of TV’s Most Memorable “Obit Players” of 2006

As the year draws to a close, Michael Slezak of Entertainment Weekly looks back at three of TV’s most memorable TV characters… who met their maker in 2006. One of them is none other than our own Denny Duquette, the heart patient and fiancé of Izzie (Katherine Heigl), played so masterfully by Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Here’s his brief obituary
:

Closet millionaire Denny Duquette died during May sweeps from complications following heart transplant surgery at Seattle Grace Hospital. He is survived by a fiancée, Isobel “Izzie” Stevens, a surgical intern who may have contributed to his death prior to attending a prom. (Don’t ask.)

More importantly, though, Denny leaves behind a blueprint for how men can look hot and stubbly while stricken and attached to tubes, heart monitors, and even LVAD machines.

Denny and Izzie

We miss you, Denny. We miss you.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan: Alive and Well

He lives! Today’s People Magazine features a picture of Uma Thurman riding off in a blaze of glory alongside co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan on the set of her film, The Accidental Husband, in Greenwich, Conn., on Tuesday.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Morgan, as many Grey’s Anatomy fans know very well, endeared himself to millions as ill-fated heart patient Denny Duquette in Season 2.

The love interest turned fiance of Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) passed away in the season finale. Hopefully his short, but memorable time on Grey’s Anatomy was just the beginning of many great things for this talented and handsome actor!

Morgan to Star in Indie Office Comedy

An Actor in DemandNot long ago, he struggled for work. Nowadays, it seems as if Jeffrey Dean Morgan can't get enough.

We've already talked about the actor's addition to the cast of the new and as-yet-untitled Shonda Rhimes pilot involving female journalists. Now the actor has another new project in the pipeline — a role opposite Lisa Kudrow (of Friends fame) and Teri Garr (Tootsie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind) in the independent film Kabluey, directed by Scott Prendergast.

"It's a small part." Morgan said of the off-beat comedy, which reports say will be set in an office environment. "But can you imagine, Lisa Kudrow? And Teri Garr? That's just amazing."

Morgan, 40, still has recurring roles on two TV series, Supernatural and Weeds. His beloved Grey's Anatomy character, Denny Duquette, may not have survived the second season of the hospital drama, but the actor's career has certainly survived, and then some. Great to see. We will continue to follow J.D.'s pursuits and keep you updated whenever we hear something.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Reflects Upon Denny

He did not go gently, and death was definitely not proud.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan hoped, prayed, schemed and finally begged for the life of his Grey's Anatomy character, Denny Duquette, according to the L.A. Times. At one point, he marched into the office of creator / executive producer Shonda Rhimes, turned on the charm and pleaded. One Happy Man

"Please, please, just let me live," Morgan asked.

Rhimes was sympathetic, but unwavering. On the season finale, as fans have lamented for weeks now, Denny survived a difficult heart transplant, asked Izzie to marry him, then succumbed to a stroke. Denny quietly breathed his last with no one in the room (save 20 million viewers at home).

"It was a grim day, let me tell you. A dark, grim day. I'm still not over it. It broke my heart to leave that show," said Morgan of his death scene.

In becoming one of TV's top hits, Grey's Anatomy has built and maintained a devoted following, many of whom held out hope that the ailing patient would somehow pull through. Fans have voiced sorrow and outrage since his death. Some are even in denial to the point where they believe Denny may somehow come back to life.

"I don't think so," Morgan said, grinning. "I mean, I was blue."

ABC, Shonda Bringing Denny Back to Life?

We're not sure whether this is good or bad news for Grey's Anatomy fans, but regardless, you'll be able to see more Jeffrey Dean Morgan on ABC.

Coming Soon: More MorganMorgan, who was lauded by critics and fans for his portrayal of charismatic and ill-fated heart patient Denny Duquette, has signed on as a regular cast member on new ABC series from Shonda Rhimes, the creator and executive producer of Grey's Anatomy.

The Untitled Shonda Rhimes Project, as it is now known, revolves around a group of female journalists. According to Reuters, ABC has ordered a pilot episode.

While it comes as little surprise that Morgan's newfound fame landed him another ABC role, this news officially extinguishes flickering hopes of Grey's fans that Denny might return to Seattle Grace in some capacity. The handsome actor endeared himself to Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) for much of the series' second season.

In addition to his guest role on Grey's Anatomy, Morgan appeared on the WB Network series Supernatural as the ghost-busting father of stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. He was also recurring character on Weeds, the Showtime comedy starring Mary Louise Parker. Morgan played Parker's dead husband, who often appears in flashbacks and fantasy sequences.

Actor Hopes To Live Another Season

In the parking lot of a restaurant near the home of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the actor was recently approached by one of his fans.Denny & Izzie

"My wife says you're dying, but you look healthy enough to me," the fan told Morgan.

"You can't die," the man's wife pleaded. "You're too cute to die!"

This conversation, hardly the first of its kind, elicited a good laugh from Morgan, who plays charming heart patient Denny Duquette on Grey's Anatomy. The character has emerged as a fan favorite as he woos the beautiful Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl, above) from his hospital bed while awaiting a transplant.

Not only are Morgan's services winning praise, but they are in high demand — sometimes for roles that require him to actually stand up and walk, no less. He has appeared twice on the Showtime series Weeds as Mary-Louise Parker's dead husband (via home videos and flashbacks), and plays an MIA dad on the WB's Supernatural, which airs at 9 p.m. Thursdays. Somewhat like Denny, his character is a man targeted for death… only by evil forces.
