Joshua Jackson May Appear This Season After All

Kristin Veitch of E! Online reports today that, pending the official end to the writers' strike (which is all but over as of today, the Los Angeles Times says), Grey's Anatomy will indeed restart the suspended production on Season Four.

This burst of production expected to produce a handful of new episodes (as many as five, TV Guide first reported) to air in April and May, Kristin writes - and Joshua Jackson is expected to finally fulfill guest star duties as Cristina's love interest!

Grey's Anatomy fans hoping for a guest appearance by Josh Jackson this season may still get their wish as the writers' strike ends, according to recent reports!

Writers' Strike to End Imminently: Grey's Anatomy Slated to Return with New Episodes in April, May

With an end to the three-month-old WGA strike imminent, the networks have quietly outlined plans to salvage what's left of the current TV season.

TV Guide has a tentative list of what you can expect from Grey's Anatomy and many other shows, although it is certainly subject to change.

Just the same, it looks like we may get 4-5 new Grey's Anatomy episodes out of Season Four yet. They would air in April and May.

Follow the jump for TV Guide's full list of shows and what we can expect in terms of their return dates and new episodes. While this, again, is tentative, it looks like the wheels are in motion for a Grey's Anatomy return ...

Report: Writers' Strike to Conclude This Week, Grey's Anatomy Production to Resume in Early March

Paging the cast of Grey's Anatomy... get back on set, STAT!

With a tentative agreement between striking writers and Hollywood moguls expected to be announced sometime this week, TV Guide's Michael Ausiello reports that production on the show is expected to resume in early March!

The current plan is to shoot four or five new Grey's Anatomy episodes to complete Season 4. Those episodes would air in April and/or May.

A similar scenario is expected to play out at other established ABC hits, such as Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty and Brothers & Sisters.

Grey's Anatomy Cast: Season Four
According to reports, Season 4 of Grey's Anatomy isn't done yet!

Conversely, freshman shows that already received full-season pickups (such as Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money, Samantha Who?) will likely restart their production schedules over the summer ahead of a fall relaunch.

Expect a similar pattern to play out at CBS, NBC and Fox: The more established shows returning in the spring; newer ones held back until this fall. The fate of heavily serialized shows like Lost, Heroes and 24 remains unclear.

Meanwhile, sources close to the talks say the WGA deal is close to the DGA deal, with a few exceptions â€" one of which is a "major breakthrough."

In any case, how happy are you to hear this Grey's Anatomy news?

Tonight: "The Heart of the Matter"

Tonight, ABC will air a Grey's Anatomy repeat, "The Heart of the Matter," the fourth episode of the suspended Season 4. The episode airs at 8 p.m. You can follow or catch up on all the action in our episode guide, as always.

Now in its fourth month, the writers' strike has shut down production on Grey's Anatomy, although talks are progressing. Nothing is definite, of course.

Grey's Anatomy Insider has posted a list of the music selections from "The Heart of the Matter," as well as a photo gallery and list of quotes. There's also our staff's entertaining round table discussion of the episode, and our forum.

Writers' Strike Continues, But Both Sides Talking

Finally, in the third month of a bitter strike by TV and screen writers, there's something in the air. At least a little something.

"I think that there's a cautious optimism out there right now," one writer told CBS News. "The general mood is pretty hopeful," said another.

The Writers Guild and the studios have started talking again, the ice broken after the Directors Guild reached a deal first.

The big issue remains how much directors, actors, and writers earn in royalties when their work is downloaded from the Internet.

I

The writers' strike has meant only 11 episodes of Grey's Anatomy in its fourth season - one that was supposed to mark the show's return to glory.

So the pressure to settle is huge, the writer's strike already costing Hollywood more than a billion dollars.

Tonight: "Let the Truth Sting"

ABC will be airing "Let the Truth Sting" again tonight - at 8 p.m. - and while we have seen this Grey's Anatomy episode several times already, there just aren't all that many to choose from, with Season 4 on the verge of being cut short.

While it would be overly optimistic to expect a quick resolution to the strike that has us sitting on 11 episodes, at least the sides are talking, so there is hope that perhaps we may salvage a few more episodes this season.

In the meantime, for a full rundown, feel free to read our recap of "Let the Truth Sting." There's also our music guide, photo gallery, list of memorable Grey's Anatomy quotes, and staff round table discussion and forum thread.
