TV Guide on Future of Sandra Oh, Joshua Jackson

TV Guide's Michael Ausiello has some scoop on Joshua Jackson's future guest spot on Grey's Anatomy - as well as a rumor that a cast member wants out:

Question: Some very mean and nasty people have been saying that Sandra Oh is leaving Grey's Anatomy, whenever it comes back. Since you are known as the god of TV scoop, I knew you'd be able to deny this for me.

TV Guide: Unfortunately, I can't verify that rumor's authenticity. What I can verify is that someone â€" and a major someone â€" wants to be discharged from Seattle Grace, STAT. But, as far as I can tell, that someone is not Sandra Oh.

Thankfully, it looks like the awesome Sandra Oh will be staying put.

Question: You mentioned that Joshua Jackson's three-episode Grey's Anatomy arc was delayed indefinitely because of the writers' strike. However, there's a new Grey's Anatomy airing this Thursday. Will he be in that episode?

TV Guide No, hence the "delayed indefinitely" thing. The good news is that I hear Shonda Rhimes has every intention of shoe-horning Joshua Jackson into Seattle Grace (and Cristina's bed) the second the strike is over.

Sandra Oh Stands Behind Striking Writers

Stylishly dressed Sandra Oh may look the part of Hollywood star, but get her talking about the writers' strike and her Canadian sensibility comes blasting through.

"There are some Canadian crew members on Grey's Anatomy, and myself and the Canadian crew are talking about the strike in a way that is much more socialist based than the Americans," the 36-year-old actress tells The Canadian Press.

"We get the point. We're like: 'Absolutely, you have to strike.' This is the most important industry strike ever. It speaks tremendously to how the media is run globally now, and the rights of thousands and thousands of workers. I am really hoping that the producers come to the table and are fair to the writers."

Sandra Oh was in her native country Monday to be honored by the Women in Film and Television organization with this year's CTV International Achievement Award.

It was a good day for the Ottawa-based Oh family - Sandra's beaming parents were on hand to watch their actress daughter get feted by her Canadian peers while her brother, Raymond, was spending the day doing his final oral exam on his PhD thesis on medical genetics at the University of Toronto.

"I am extremely proud of him," Sandra Oh says, crediting her South Korean-born parents with their children's successes. Her sister, Grace, is a B.C. Crown attorney.

"They were extremely loving parents but they were also really disciplined. They were tough on us. Their expectations were high; they're still high."

It's family, in fact, that has kept Sandra Oh so grounded.

"People are crazy. Actors are notoriously crazy. And when you go down to L.A., people are even crazier. And fortunately I had an extremely stable, loving upbringing. My siblings and I are very close, and that means something."

Oh's acting career began in the early 1990s when she beat out hundreds of other actresses for the coveted title role in the CBC movie The Diary of Evelyn Lau.

Since then, she's been pretty much unstoppable, starring in films like Sideways and Under the Tuscan Sun before landing the part of the ferociously ambitious Dr. Cristina Yang on the ABC powerhouse hit, Grey's Anatomy.

Sandra Oh, New Boyfriend Out For a Ride

Is love in the air? Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh walks with new musician boyfriend Andrew Featherston through the streets of Los Feliz on Sunday...

Andrew Featherston

Andrew Featherson is a percussionist in the indie band The Hereafter. While she has been separated since 2005, Sandra Oh officially divorced writer / director Alexander Payne just last Thursday. Here's hoping she's happy!

Sandra Oh, Alexander Payne Officially Divorce

One of the most prominent members of the Grey's Anatomy cast, Sandra Oh, has finalized her divorce with Sideways writer-director Alexander Payne.

Oh, 36, and Payne, 46, were in a relationship for five years, including two years of marriage. They married on January 1, 2003 and separated in 2005.

Although their marital status officially ended on December 22, the former couple took more than two years to settle their finances.

In March 2005, a spokeswoman for the actress confirmed that Sandra Oh and Alexander Payne had "mutually decided to separate."

Added the rep: "They have been together for five years and were married in [January] 2003. The couple will remain friends."

Sandra Oh filed for divorce the following month in Los Angeles Superior Court. According to her filing, the Grey's Anatomy star was seeking spousal support. In his divorce response, Payne sought to deny those payments.

It was the first marriage for both; they had no children together.

Tales From the Grey's Anatomy Set

In an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the set of Grey's Anatomy, USA Today's William Keck lends his observations of what goes on that we don't see...

Sandra Oh looks sleepy, wrapped in a parka and heading to her chair. Hers is special compared with all the others' standard-issue director's chairs. Oh's has extra padding, a fancy curved foot rest and a canvas compartment under the seat. While the other actors have their full names silk-screened onto the backs of their chairs, Sandra Oh's is marked with two block letters: OH. She never talks to on-set journalists, but she offers a friendly late-in-the-day wink as she walks by.

Trailer mates

Justin Chambers (Alex Karev) shares his trailer, or "tin box," as he calls it, with Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens). "I hear her loud mouth all the time " girl's got a loud mouth," he kids. Heigl slams right back: She says she has to listen to "trailer buddy" Chambers' daily doses of Judge Judy or Montel Williams. "I think he falls asleep with the TV on," she playfully groans. Chambers has more expansive digs off-set. Over the summer he purchased a California home with his wife Keisha. Each of his five kids now has his or her own room!

Cute little cuss

Sandra Oh has a habit of playfully cussing in scenes when she's not on camera, at one point asking Ellen Pompeo, "What the (expletive) was that?" and calling Pompeo's Meredith "a whore." Says T.R. Knight (George), who shares his on-set trailer with Oh: "She has done that, always."

Who Will Win Best Supporting Actress Honors?

Who will take home the Emmy Awards Sunday night?

That remains to be seen, but in the opinion of Entertainment Weekly, the award for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series - which boasts three Grey's Anatomy stars in contention - belongs in the hands of only one woman...

Sandra Oh: The Critics

Despite the consistent strength of Chandra Wilson and emergence of Katherine Heigl, the subtle brilliance of Sandra Oh deserves the prize over both - and the other three competitors - in the eyes of this magazine. What do you think?

Incidentally, Grey's Anatomy is also up for Best Drama Series, with T.R. Knight nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

We will be pulling for all our favorite stars - and scratching our heads as to why Ellen Pompeo isn't nominated for anything. What gives?

Sizing Up Emmy Chances For Katherine Heigl, Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson

The lovely ladies of Grey's Anatomy dominate the supporting actress in a drama category for this year's Emmys, and it'd be far from a stretch to say at least two of them - Katherine Heigl and Sandra Oh - rose to new heights last season, Variety opines.

Heigl's Izzie Stevens began the year dealing with the death of fiance Denny by baking muffins, and ended it by having an affair with a married man - her best friend, George O'Malley.

Sandra Oh endured a tumultuous relationship and was left standing at the altar as Isaiah Washington's Preston Burke said goodbye to her, seeing her trepidation at spending a life together.

Chandra Wilson: Emmy Favorite?Also on Grey's Anatomy, but in a more subdued - though by no means less well-executed - role, was nominee Chandra Wilson, whose classy Dr. Bailey, try as she might, aims to lessen the hysteria that always seems to permeate the halls of Seattle Grace.

As for their competition? Aida Turturro was only in a handful of Sopranos episodes these past few months, but even in limited scenes, she had the ability to not only raise the ire of brother Tony, but of watchers who can see through her scheming ways. She did all that with fewer scenes than most of her castmates, too.

Australia's Rachel Griffiths seamlessly flowed from Six Feet Under to Brothers & Sisters, moving from scattered Brenda Chenowith to solid citizen Sarah Whedon, who does her best to keep the family business - and her own troubled marriage - afloat.

Shonda Rhimes Named One of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People

Grey's Anatomy creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes has made Time's list of 100 most influential people in the world. Under the category of "Artists & Entertainers," Shonda is featured in the magazine's annual issue, with an article about her written by our own Sandra Oh.

Here's what Sandra Oh has to say...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shonda Rhimes & Patrick Dempsey
When I first met Shonda Rhimes at my audition for Grey's Anatomy back in 2004, I thought, whether or not these people like my work, at least she's going to get me.
But she didn't just get me, she got everybody. She also got everybody to tune in to the characters and world she created every week.
No one expected it â€" no one.
Overnight she went from independent screenwriter and single mom to a public figure, the guiding force and creative engine for more than 200 employees.
Shonda Rhimes suddenly had this immense responsibility and pressure, which has changed her life in a way that no one can possibly prepare for.
In real life, she's a rather shy, private person who prefers living in her head to dealing with the myriad producers and studio executives and associations who all want something from her â€" to write for them, to sell for them, to speak for them.
And watching that introverted, creative and independent spirit struggle and learn so quickly to manage and balance and truly own all that power was like watching a butterfly emerge from its cocoon. She did it with self-deprecating humor, brutal honesty and no small amount of grace.
Somehow, in the midst of all that pressure, Shonda Rhimes' vision for the characters became more sharply focused, more self-assured.
She found that her responsibility was to them and her creative voice. By remaining true to that voice and singular vision, I think she has created something great.
As a fan, I, for one, can't wait to see what happens next.
