Sandra Oh Leaves Mark on Co-Stars

Sandra Oh is winning - or at least making progress - in a battle with her Grey's Anatomy co-stars. But don't worry, there's no on-set drama.

The Canadian actress is merely trying to convert her co-stars to veganism, treating them to a lunch at her favorite animal-friendly restaurant.

Oh took a bunch of Grey's Anatomy cast and crew members to Truly Vegan in Hollywood earlier this month and wowed them with its cuisine.

A source told Contact Music, "They couldn't believe how amazing the food tasted. Patrick Dempsey enjoyed the chocolate vegan cake and Ellen Pompeo has gone to Truly Vegan half a dozen times since trying the food."

Sandra Oh to Guest Star on ...

... Sesame Street! See that one coming?

Even if you feel like you’re too old for the long-running kids show, you aren't - especially if Grey's Anatomy's Sandra Oh makes an appearance (date TBD).

Other notable guest stars for the 39th season of Sesame Street include Neil Patrick Harris, Will Arnett, Feist, LL Cool J, Johah Hill, Molly Shannon and Jessica Alba. Fellow Grey's Anatomy star T.R. Knight has appeared in the past!

Who's More Deserving: Sandra Oh or Chandra Wilson?

With all the hype about Katherine Heigl and the Emmys, it is easy to forget that Grey's Anatomy has two Outstanding Supporting Actress contenders who did submit their names for consideration - and both are certainly worthy of the honor.

Unfortunately, there can only be one winner.

If forced to choose, which Grey's Anatomy star do you think most deserves an Emmy - Chandra Wilson or Sandra Oh? We're putting up a new poll about this, but feel free to leave a comment if you want to expound on your reasoning.

Sandra and Chandra

Both Grey's Anatomy stars are finalists at the Emmy Awards (September 21).

Grey's Anatomy Snubbed By Emmy Awards

For the first time in three full seasons (Season One was only nine episodes long and therefore not eligible), Grey's Anatomy has been left off the final list of nominees for Outstanding Drama Series at the forthcoming Emmy Awards.

Up for the honor are Boston Legal, Damages, Dexter, House, Lost and Mad Men. Grey's Anatomy was among 10 semifinalists but missed the final cut.

A pair of Grey's Anatomy cast members, Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson, received nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series.

What

Impressively, this marks the fourth consecutive nomination for Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang) and the third straight for Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey).

Last year, Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens) was nominated and won the Emmy Award for that category. This season... well, you know the details.

What do you think about this? Should Grey's Anatomy have been among the top six - or was Season Four really not up to par?

Four Grey's Anatomy Stars Under Emmy Consideration

Nothing is official yet, but our research has determined that four Grey's Anatomy stars are being considered for Emmy Awards this year, with the finalists (five are nominated per category) to be officially announced soon.

Among 10 semifinalists in their respective categories are Patrick Dempsey (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama), T.R. Knight (Outstanding Supporting Actor), and a pair of mainstays in Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh (Outstanding Supporting Actress).

Dr. O

T.R. Knight is one of four Grey's Anatomy stars in the running.

All are certainly worthy, and we would hope included on the lists of five finalists in these difficult races. Of the Grey's Anatomy stars not being considered, we would say Ellen Pompeo's omission is the most surprising. She has been so good.

Either Ellen or Katherine Heigl. Just kidding.

On a side note, rumor has it (this has not been confirmed), that Grey's Anatomy is on the bubble as far as earning a place among the five nominees for Outstanding Drama series. We will let you know when we hear for sure.

The Wit and Wisdom of Sandra Oh

She came, she saw, she charmed.

Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh visited the Magnetic North Theatre Festival ove the weekend in Vancouver, B.C., and in her hour spent with a few fans at Performance Works, it was clear why this beautiful Korean-Canadian actress is so popular.

Wit and wisdom were balanced by hard-nosed practicality as she spoke about a career that's less than 20 years old but already filled with a lifetime's worth of achievement.

Before she even finished school in 1993, Sandra Oh landed the coveted title role in the CBC TV film The Diary of Evelyn Lau.

Oh, Yes

"I had to leave and I missed the last production," Oh said. "My classmates were so supportive, and since I was too young to know you couldn't ask for stuff, I asked the CBC to rearrange the shooting schedule so I could fly back for grad."

The Diary of Evelyn Lau (and a Gemini nomination) was quickly followed up with Mina Shum's film Double Happiness (and a Genie award) and then the title role in the CBC bio-pic Adrienne Clarkson Presents.

Filled with confidence, Sandra Oh made the leap to Hollywood - and landed what would prove to be a seven-year gig on the HBO comedy Arli$$.

Sandra Oh to Host Canada's Genie Awards

The amazing Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh, who we see far too little of on our homepage, will be hosting the biggest night in Canadian film.

The Canadian actress of Korean descent will grace the stage at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre Monday, March 3, to host the 28th annual Genie Awards.

No stranger to the Genies, Sandra Oh has previously won two awards for her roles in "Double Happiness" and "Last Night."

The talented Oh, who we know as Dr. Cristina Yang, has also won a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild award, and a Cannes FIPA d'Or.

In her native Canada, Grey's Anatomy airs on CTV.

A Sandra Phot-Oh

"It is an absolute honour to have Sandra Oh as the host for the Genie Awards," said Sara Morton, CEO for the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.

The press release continued: "Her award-winning accomplishments as an actor in film, TV and theatre, both at home and abroad, are a testament to the kind of talent that Canada has become famous for around the world."

Oh and the rest of the Grey's Anatomy cast will soon be back in production with the writers strike over. New episodes will air in April.

Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Eric Dane at SAG Awards

Grey's Anatomy stars Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh and Eric Dane were on hand at the Screen Actors Guild awards last night. Here are the three stars ...

Eric Dane, of course, is with his lovely wife, Rebecca Gayheart. What do you think of Ellen and Sandra's choice of outfits? For more photos of these great Grey's Anatomy cast members at the ceremony, just follow this link here.

Sandra Oh Not Optimistic Regarding Strike

Despite a new deal signed by the Director's Guild of America, Sandra Oh is playing down hopes that Grey's Anatomy's fourth season can be salvaged.

The Director's Guild made a peace pact with Hollywood's studios, leading many to speculate it could spark a resolution to the writers' strike - now three months old and counting - that has crippled the television season.

But the award-winning actress, at the Sundance Film Festival this year as a festival juror, remains more cautious than optimistic going forward.

"The longer we're out, the less chance we have of completing the season," the Canadian-born Sandra Oh told the Winnipeg Sun.

"I don't know the (DGA) deal. I don't necessarily think the DGA and the WGA have the same needs ... But everyone wants to go back to work. I was out on the line the other day and the writers are really, really suffering."

Super Sandra

Sadly, Sandra Oh doesn't expect to wave the strike goodbye soon.

Even if Hollywood's scribes resolve their walkout promptly, that doesn't mean labor peace is assured - the industry's actors could still strike themselves, over many of the same issues, when their own contract expires in June.

"The DGA membership is less than 5,000. There are over 150,000 Screen Actors Guild members," Sandra Oh said. "Their needs cannot be the same, especially in terms of new media. Actors live on residuals."

So while Oh and everyone else in L.A. waits for an end to the labor strife, she's just thrilled to focus on seeing - and supporting - The Sundance Film Festival's latest crop of independent fare. Who can blame her?

"Why not champion films that don't have a giant budget?" she said. "Do we need to support the next M:I-6? I'm not here for that."

Take that, Tom Cruise.

Sandra Oh Highlights Sundance Film Festival

At the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, Sandra Oh and a fellow "juror," Diego Luna, hold court at a press conference. The Grey's Anatomy star shined as usual, this time sporting new blonde / red highlights.
