Looking sharp as always! His reeling Grey's Anatomy character, Dr. Derek Shepherd, may be a total basket case after his meltdown on last week's episode, but Patrick Dempsey still lives up to his McDreamy title, suiting up for a photo shoot in Los Angeles on Saturday...

TV Guide Canada refutes rumors spreading around the Internet that Patrick Dempsey was among the Grey's Anatomy cast members said to be looking to leave the show.

As if.

However, after his character, Dr. Derek Shepherd, had to deal with the loss of patient Jen [played by Jennifer Westfeldt], the final straw comes when the doctor known as McDreamy learns at a deposition that more of his patients have died than survived.

That sends the depressed surgeon over the edge, and Derek decides to quit Seattle Grace. While some subsequent headlines would have you believe Patrick Dempsey is leaving not just Seattle Grace, but the show itself, the actor just laughs it off.

“Derek goes off on a little bit of a soul-searching bender, and then comes out the other side with the help of his fellow surgeons,” reveals Dempsey. “My character does leave the hospital, but I’m not leaving the series. I’d be stupid to leave.”

Phew.

No breaking news here, Grey's Anatomy fans, just the show's leading man, Patrick Dempsey, on location filming upcoming episodes on Friday, February 20. It's a somewhat rare treat that we actually get to see photos of the cast filming outside, so enjoy!

Taking a break from filming the show we all know and love, Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey pursued his #1 off-screen passion - auto racing! The actor took part in the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway Saturday in Daytona Beach, Fla.

He came in at No. 35 - but he's 34 spots better in our minds!

Going for casual comfort (and still looking handsome as ever in doing so), Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey gets set to jet, hauling his own suitcase on Wednesday as he heads for the departure gates at Los Angeles International Airport...

The undisputed leading man of Grey's Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey, turns 43 today. Happy birthday, Patrick! The Maine native first rose to fame so long ago, many Grey's Anatomy fans probably aren't even familiar with what the star used to look like:

Hey, it was the late 1980s. We forgive McDreamy for the hair. While he was always a successful working actor, his second turn at stardom came early in 2005 when Derek Shepherd woke up in Meredith Grey's bed in the Grey's Anatomy pilot.

What a great ride it's been since.

No big news here - but that doesn't make it any less noteworthy. When Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey is spotted hopping on a flight in Los Angeles, we'll be there to bring it to you. He and the rest of the cast (finally) will be back with a new episode Thursday!

Patrick Dempsey has announced plans for a 100-mile bike trek fundraiser for the cancer center that bears his name at Central Maine Medical Center.

The Grey's Anatomy star, a Maine native who plays the hunky neurosurgeon known as Dr. Derek Shepherd, a.k.a. McDreamy, on ABC's medical drama, was in his native Lewiston, Maine, on Monday to promote the bike ride and 5-kilometer walk/run planned for October.

The event will benefit the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing, which opened last spring. The actor has provided a $250,000 donation to the center.

Dempsey was born in Lewiston and grew up in the Turner-Buckfield area. He currently owns a home in Harpswell, on the state's coast, where his mom also lives.

Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey is an avid cyclist and auto racer.

This news is a few weeks old, but we're only learning of and reporting it now. Better late than never, right? Right. Especially when it comes to McDreamy news.

In case you weren't aware, Patrick Dempsey is hot. So much so, in fact, that the Grey's Anatomy star topped AOL TV's list of the 50 Hunkiest TV Stars of all time!

He isn't about to tousle his own gorgeous hair, however.

"Well, there's always going to be somebody else who's going to come along and be the next handsome person," the married father of three says.

"It's all very subjective," Dempsey said. "And there are also a lot of people out there who aren't being recognized, maybe just because they're not on a hit show or something right now. So you have to kind of take it all with a grain of salt."

So modest as always. As for being the leading man of so many adoring Grey's Anatomy fans, the dimpled TV doctor is grateful for the spotlight ... to a degree.

"It's certainly great having the attention," Patrick Dempsey admits, "It's always good for one's ego, but at the end of day, it really is quite an empty statement if you don't have family around you. Because there is no way you can live up to it."
