Kate Walsh to Get Married This Weekend

Just four months after former Grey's Anatomy actress (and new Private Practice star) Kate Walsh got engaged to 20th Century Fox exec Alex Young, the two are getting married Labor Day weekend. That's this coming weekend!

Kate Walsh, 39, who plays Dr. Addison Montgomery on Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, will marry Alex Young, 36, at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa in California.

Grey's Anatomy stars Sara Ramirez and Katherine Heigl, both good friends of Kate Walsh, will reportedly attend the three-day event.

Private Practice on Cover of TV Guide

Private Practice on TV Guide Cover"Are you guys talking about me?" asks Kate Walsh, the faux fire flashing in her languid, blue-green eyes.

"'Cause I don't trust a-one of you!"

On a recent Sunday evening, the actress, who shares the sassy style of her TV alter ego, Dr. Addison Montgomery, is playing host to a large table of actors.

This is the first sit-down dinner with the cast of her Grey's Anatomy spin-off.

But, as TV Guide reports, the group already seems like a family even if they've only a week of shooting.

Kate Walsh is then shot down about the topic of discussion.

"Um, no, you egomaniac," says her old friend and fellow cast member, Paul Adelstein.

"But I gotta tell you, that dress you've got on is very good for the boobs!"

That could easily be a quip from Alex Karev. But Shonda Rhimes, the executive producer of both shows, has been discussing a "lighter, more comedic tone" for Private Practice, so it surely fits the spin-off as well.

Patience Pays Off For Kate Walsh

Justin Chambers, Kate WalshAll Kate Walsh needed was a little bit of patience.

She had an inkling that's what it would take for her strong, flawed character on Grey's Anatomy, Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd, to click with the show's audience.

Her role as the estranged spouse of Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), although initially intended to be short-term, took shape the longer she was on screen.

Initially Addison, a neo-natal surgeon, was hated by fans who saw her as standing between Meredith and McDreamy and true happiness.

But as Addison's story lines evolved, she became one of Grey's Anatomy's most beloved characters.

Not a bad effort.

"They started off writing her like the wicked witch from the east all in black coming in to clean up. And then they just gradually made her more and more human and took off the scales one by one," Kate Walsh said.

"They do this with everybody in the show. All the characters have a work persona and a personal persona. I think that's just very real, and that it is also very natural that some people would reveal theirs more than others, like the interns that are working 400 hours a week."

The public reaction to Addison has changed from anger over McDreamy to joy at seeing her in the arms of Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan (Eric Dane). The character is so popular, producers gave her a spin-off series.

Walsh left at the end of Season 3 to begin Private Practice, which viewers have already had a taste of in a previous episode of Grey's Anatomy.

The series is set in L.A. and also stars Taye Diggs and Tim Daly.

While no date has been announced (at least none that we know of), it looks like a wedding is in the works and will happen soon. Kate Walsh, 39, has been engaged to studio executive Alex Young for about three months.

The Season 4 premiere of Grey's Anatomy, titled "A Change Is Gonna Come," airs September 27 at 9 p.m. on ABC. The premiere of Private Practice airs the day before â€" Wednesday, September 26, also at 9 p.m.

Kate Walsh Talks Private Practice

With a wedding to plan and her new Grey's Anatomy spin-off, Kate Walsh has a lot on her plate. Us Weekly caught up with Walsh and chatted with her about departing Seattle Grace for a new, different and Private Practice.

Kate Walsh is Outta Here!Us: Was it difficult to leave Grey's Anatomy?
Kate Walsh: It was. But at the same time, it's such an amazing opportunity. I definitely miss my pals, but I see them socially. And I'm so excited that Grey's Anatomy got nominated for an Emmy again this year... it's just amazing. But it felt like a natural time for Addison to move on. What else could she do at Seattle Grace, really?

Us: Are you still in touch with Grey's Anatomy cast members?
Kate Walsh: I just saw them. Sara Ramirez, T.R. Knight, Katherine Heigl and Justin Chambers. I had a nice little drink the other night to celebrate the Emmy nominations. It was great to see them.

Us: Any chance we'll see their characters on Private Practice?
Kate Walsh: I don't know. We haven't had any indication of that. I'm sure they'll do some kind of crossover at some point and have somebody visit. Right now, it's so new it's all about getting the show on the air and established, and getting people invested in these new characters.

Engaged Kate Walsh: Living the Dream

Kate Walsh With Alex YoungUnlike her romantically challenged Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice character, Kate Walsh knows love when it finds her.

She and Alex Young got engaged in May after dating for just three months.

"We've been together since February," Kate Walsh, 39, told People at a poolside party for facialist Kate Somerville at the Beverly Wilshire hotel.

"I know. I'm literally living the dream. But you know when you know. I was not expecting it, so it's kind of amazing."

While Kate Walsh says she really loves "everything" about her fiancé, a production co-president at 20th Century Fox, she admits she's partial to his looks.

"He's pretty handsome," she said, adding with a giggle: "He's ridiculously handsome!"

It doesn't hurt that he's helping with wedding plans... in his own way:

"He's really great. He's there, but not in the way! He wants to contribute."

So, she's taken charge.

"You start getting into this and you don't want to be a cliché, but then suddenly you're like, 'I'm doing all this stuff!'"

Considering she's also preparing for her new series, Private Practice, which starts shooting in mid-July, her schedule must be packed.

"It's insane, yeah," she said. But she has a mantra that keeps her centered when it comes to wedding planning: "Delegate, delegate, delegate!"

To help her manage things, she and Alex Young are taking a quick vacation.

"We're going to a balmy island," she said. "This is my getaway, and as soon as I come back we just hit the ground running."

No wedding date is officially set for Kate, or Grey's Anatomy leading lady Ellen Pompeo and fiance Chris Ivery. Katherine Heigl, the third engaged cast member, plans to wed musician Josh Kelley right before Christmas. We're happy for all three of these terrific actresses.

Kate Walsh: Beautiful Bride in Training?

If, like us, you thought Kate Walsh looked great in a white Catherine Malandrino dress a few weeks ago, we'd have to agree.

If you thought the similar Jay Godfrey dress on the blue carpet at the Fantastic Four opening in London was also a hit, well, we would be in agreement there as well.

But the floor-length David Salomon gown the Private Practice star wore last week at the Women in Film Crystal and Lucy Awards sealed the deal for us.

The ex- Grey's Anatomy doctor looks so good in white, there's no doubt she'll make a beautiful bride when she walks down the aisle with Alex Young!
