Justin Chambers: Feeling Better

Grey’s Anatomy star Justin Chambers is finally doing better.

“I’m doing really good — I’m actually sleeping!” Chambers, 37, who plays Dr. Alex Karev on the ABC hit, told a reporter at the kick-off party for the Butterfly Ball Tuesday at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills.

In January, Chambers voluntarily checked himself in at UCLA Medical Center to get help with a pre-existing sleeping disorder for three days.

These days, “I am really enjoying life,” the Grey’s Anatomy actor said.

What’s helping Justin Chambers (with wife Keisha) settle his life down?

Bikram yoga, which he’s been doing for the past two months.

“It is where you sit in a 104-degree room, and you stretch for an hour-and-a- half,” he explained. “I swear by it — it’s incredible.”

His wife Keisha Chambers — with whom he has five kids — has also been a source of support.

“We are going on 14 years,” Justin Chambers said. “When we get to 50, we will send you a postcard!”

Justin Chambers Opens Up About Sleeping Disorder

Justin Chambers said in an interview this week that a longtime sleeping disorder led him to check in to UCLA’s psych ward earlier this year.

“It’s an issue that I’ve had for a while,” the Grey’s Anatomy star tells People magazine exclusively in his first interview since the incident.

“It’s a biological sleep disorder,” he added. “Your mind keeps racing, and your body is tired. It wants to go to sleep, but it can’t.”

Justin Chambers, 37, who has five children with his wife, Keisha Chambers, 38, says in the two months prior to checking in to UCLA, he was sleeping no more than an hour a week, and reached the point where he absolutely had to act.

“I got to my wit’s end,” he says.

His public comments follow a somewhat scary article in Star Magazine detailing Justin clearly struggling with his condition during a trip to Palm Springs.

It’s hard to say what’s just rumors and what actually took place that night, but it’s good that Justin Chambers is getting help for this serious medical condition.

Hopefully Justin Chambers (who plays Dr. Alex Karev) can get some needed rest before Grey’s Anatomy returns to a full production schedule.

The Grey’s Anatomy star checked into the UCLA Medical Center recently, having suffered from a sleeping disorder for a prolonged period of time.

Justin Chambers Catches Up on Reading

After spending a few days in the UCLA psychiatric ward for “exhaustion and a sleeping disorder,” Grey’s Anatomy star Justin Chambers is back at home, and was spotted out in L.A. reading what appears to be the Bible for guidance…

Other members of the Grey’s Anatomy cast say Justin Chambers was just going through some tough times, but nothing severe, is now back and doing fine.

Grey’s Anatomy Cast: Justin Chambers is Fine

After checking in an out of the UCLA Medical Center’s psychiatric ward, Justin Chambers is doing just fine, according to the Grey’s Anatomy cast.

“[Justin Chambers] just needed a break,” says James Pickens, Jr., who recently spoke with the actor. “He said, ‘Man I’m fine.’”

At the NAACP Image Awards Nominee luncheon Saturday in Beverly Hills, Ca., Pickens told People that Chambers, who recently left town, was headed to Arizona with his family because he just wanted to chill.

“He thanked everybody for their concern but everybody’s good,” says Pickens.

Also at the luncheon, co-star Chandra Wilson said, “Everybody goes through stuff. It’s no different than anybody else in the world. We just happen to be in the public eye … Justin’s doing just fine.”

A rep for Justin Chambers said that the actor, who plays Dr. Alex Karev on Grey’s Anatomy, chose to voluntarily check himself into the psychiatric ward because he was exhausted and suffers from a sleeping disorder.

The UCLA Medical Center, of course, is the same facility where Britney Spears was recently admitted and placed on psychiatric hold for nearly a week.

An Ohio native, Justin Chambers, 37, and his wife, Keisha Chambers, have been married for over a decade and have five children.

Justin Chambers’ character remains one of Grey’s Anatomy’s best.

Interestingly, Chambers was in the same ward where Britney Spears is currently being treated for bipolar disorder, having been admitted early this morning.

Justin checked in Monday and left yesterday. Here’s hoping he got the help he needs and is feeling better! We need him for those Izzie-Alex scenes…

Justin Chambers Takes the Family on Outing

Grey’s Anatomy star and hunk Justin Chambers, along with his wife Keisha, and their five children — Isabella, 12, fraternal twins Maya and Kaila, 10, Eva, 8, and Jackson, 6 - started off the new year at the Knott’s Berry Farm amusement park in Buena Vista, Calif., on Wednesday. Grey’s Anatomy Cast Joins Picketing Writers Again

Even without a script to guide, the Grey’s Anatomy cast generated plenty of drama Wednesday when they showed up once again to support striking writers picketing outside the fabled Paramount Studios lot in Los Angeles.

Stars Katherine Heigl, who plays Dr. Izzie Stevens, T.R. Knight, who plays her on-screen love interest Dr. George O’Malley, and Sara Ramirez, who plays George’s estranged wife Dr. Callie Torres, posed for pictures and gave interviews.

Even former cast member Isaiah Washington showed up. Washington, who played Dr. Preston Burke, was not asked back to the show in June amid tension that began and quickly escalated when he allegedly used a slur in reference to T.R. Knight and then used the word again during a Golden Globes appearance.

Isaiah Washington has since apologized, met with gay leaders and checked into rehab, and the actor appeared on NBC’s Bionic Woman earlier this fall.

His presence underscored the symbolism of “Diversity Day” in which writers and actors who are gay or minorities were specifically asked to appear on the picket line.

Grey’s Anatomy creator and writer Shonda Rhimes, considered one of the most powerful black women in Hollywood, was among those picketing at Paramount.

Isaiah Washington denied there were problems with his former co-workers. He later posed for a photo with another Grey’s Anatomy star, Justin Chambers.

“They’re former castmates. I’ve been in over 25 movies, I have lots of former castmates,” the actor said.

The Grey’s Anatomy cast members joined fellow actors Rex Lee from Entourage, Amy Brenneman of Private Practice, Motorcycle Diaries screenwriter Jose Rivera, and other cast and crew from CSI Miami, Cold Case, The Shield and Bionic Woman to support the television and screenwriters in their six-week strike.

The writers are negotiating their payments for work shown on the Internet. Talks broke off last week when the writers walked away from the bargaining table.

The ever-charming Justin Chambers: Seeing double?

In any event, Justin Chambers made the most of a free night as the Writers Guild of America’s strike dragged on, mingling on the patio at the after-party with Grey’s Anatomy co-star Eric Dane and Brothers & Sisters star Dave Annable.

It should be very interesting to see if his character, Dr. Alex Karev, is smiling after the events of tonight’s all-new episode of Grey’s Anatomy!
