Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery continue their newly wedded bliss, leaving a Beverly Hills restaurant, Yoshinoya, smiling together and hand-in-hand Tuesday...

The couple will celebrate their two-week wedding anniversary this Friday. Ellen's Grey's Anatomy co-star, Patrick Dempsey, (as he later revealed in an interview) and other close friends were told about the November 9 wedding the Monday before the nuptials took place, but the public was left largely in the dark.

Which is probably just the way Ellen and Chris - who had spoken of their desire for a small wedding, out of the spotlight - wanted it. We're very happy for these two!

It looks like Ellen Pompeo had a lot more to celebrate last weekend than her 38th birthday! And we wondered what they were doing in New York.

The star of Grey's Anatomy and her longtime boyfriend/fiance, music producer Chris Ivery, quietly got married on Friday at New York's City Hall, where none other than Mayor Michael Bloomberg served as their witness.

Appropriately, Pompeo and Ivery got engaged almost exactly a year ago while celebrating the actress' 37th birthday. Ellen Pompeo, an Everett, Mass., native, repeatedly professed that she and Chris Ivery would prefer a quiet wedding.

And how low-key it was.

A city clerk performed the minutes-long ceremony with only Michael Bloomberg - like Pompeo and Ivery, a Boston-area native (he grew up in Medford, Mass.) - and First Deputy Mayor Patti Harris accompanying the couple.

Congratulations to Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery from all of us!

"They are over the moon," Ellen Pompeo's spokeswoman, Jennifer Allen, told the Boston Globe yesterday. The discreet newlyweds were spotted courtside at the New York Knicks game Sunday night at Madison Square Garden.

Ellen Pompeo was back in Hollywood yesterday filming Grey's Anatomy, which is expected to shut down production soon because of the writers' strike.

The Grey's Anatomy Insider staff would like to extend belated birthday wishes to the lovely, talented woman who literally puts the Grey in Grey's Anatomy, Ellen Pompeo, who celebrated her 38th birthday Saturday, November 10.

A native of the Boston area, Pompeo achieved modest fame with a variety of film roles before starring as Meredith Grey and becoming a household name - not to mention a Golden Globe award nominee and Screen Actors Guild award winner.

Now 38 years young, Ellen Pompeo lives in L.A. with her fiance, Chris Ivery, and their two dogs. Here's hoping we are treated to many more seasons of watching Ellen on Grey's Anatomy as the conflicted and complex title character.

Despite her rise to fame, Ellen Pompeo remains one of the more down to earth stars in Hollywood, and certainly among the most liked by readers of our site. We wish her the best, belatedly, on her birthday and thank her for her work on Grey's Anatomy!

The lovely Ellen Pompeo attended the 32nd annual National Italian American Foundation Gala in Washington, D.C. and received a NIAF Special Achievement Award in Entertainment for her portrayal of Dr. Meredith Grey.

She joined director Martin Scorsese at the gala, as well as Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Mary Margaret Valenti, the widow of Jack Velenti (president of the Motion Picture Association of America).

Many Grey's Anatomy fans are aware of Ellen Pompeo's acting resume, as well as her great personality. But here are five fun facts about the actress you might not know - complete with her quotes at times - courtesy of People magazine ...

1. On her very first day playing Leonardo DiCaprio's lover in the movie Catch Me If You Can, Ellen Pompeo "had to have a simulated sex scene," she later told the Chicago Tribune. "I can't say it was difficult, but ... it was a little awkward, sex with Leonardo DiCaprio on my first day."

2. Before working with Ellen Pompeo in the 2002 film Moonlight Mile, Jake Gyllenhaal hit on her. "He wasn't Jake Gyllenhaal then," she told Playboy. "I didn't know what to say, because he'd come over with these compliments and he's much younger than I am. I just said, 'Well, maybe we'll work together someday.'"

3. When asked what famous woman would she like to make out with, Ellen Pompeo said, "Ooh! Angelina Jolie. She's gorgeous. Or Sandra Oh."

4. Ellen Pompeo isn't impressed with her newfound fame since Grey's Anatomy became huge. "I don't find acting to be a particularly noble way to make a living," she says. "I'm not saving anybody's life, I'm not a teacher, I'm not working for UNICEF. I don't think I'm some big deal."
