Sans scrubs, Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo and her husband, Chris Ivery, paid a visit to the Children's Hospital in her native Boston on March 31.

The Everett, Mass., native, who attended the hospital's Women in Medicine Luncheon today, spent a ton of time talking to patients and their parents.

Ellen Pompeo impressed us not only with her easy beside manner but also her knowledge of medicine. "It's from my job," said the TV doctor.

"They do so much to make that part of it authentic."

Enormous basketball fans that they are, Pompeo and Chris Ivery were in their usual spots, front and center at the Celtics game on Sunday.

"I love the Celtics, but we love NBA basketball," she said.

"When we travel we go see games. The only thing I have to be that loyal to is my husband, everything else I can have more than one."

Asked about Katherine Heigl's recent comment about Meredith and Derek getting married - on the show's 100th episode, no less - Pompeo grinned and said:

"There's a wedding ... There's a setting that's a wedding, that's all I can say right now. I can't say who gets married. We're still working on the episode."

The actress told the Boston Globe she's thankful for the show's longevity, and credited the loyal fans of Grey's Anatomy for the show's continued success.

"Sometimes it seems like a long time and other times, I think, 'Wow, where did the five years go?' It's a lot like life and I've learned to think that way - to appreciate that it's going by quickly ... Our fans are the real reason we're on the air. They are so supportive."

Grey’s Anatomy stars and friends Ellen Pompeo (Meredith) and Eric Dane (Mark, a.k.a. McSteamy) went on a double date together on Saturday in Malibu, California.

According to People magazine, a number of our favorite Grey's Anatomy cast members were spotted out with each other - and their significant others - over the weekend.

Ellen Pompeo threw her husband of over a year now, Chris Ivery, a 41st birthday bash at ONE Sunset in Los Angeles. The lucky guests - such as her Grey's Anatomy costar Eric Dane and his wife Rebecca Gayheart - feasted on the chef's choice tasting menu, which included Maine sea scallops, chestnut tortelloni and truffle mac 'n' cheese.

Following that, it was time for dessert and another treat: "They sang "Happy Birthday" and Chris smiled through the whole song," says an onlooker. "He and Ellen were really cute together, she wanted to him to have fun and enjoy his birthday."

Meanwhile, another of Pompeo's Grey's Anatomy co-stars, Katherine Heigl, and husband Josh Kelley, "smiling from ear to ear" during a romantic dinner at Kabuki in Hollywood.

The happy duo shared sushi during their late-night dinner and enjoyed each other's company, an onlooker says. Always good to hear things are going well for all of them.

Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo, a big basketball fan, and husband Chris Ivery rocked matching aviator shades as they headed over to the Staples Center to watch their hometown Los Angeles Lakers take on the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday in downtown L.A.

The 39-year-old Grey’s Anatomy leading lady and her music producer hubby of a little over a year can’t seem to get enough of the Lakers - although both are Massachusetts natives and actually fans of the rival Boston Celtics, who topped L.A. in last year's finals.

They live in Los Angeles now, though, so it's the next best thing. Courtside tickets are always nice. Here's a nice photo of the happy couple en route to the game ...

There may be constant turmoil on the set of Grey's Anatomy, but life at home couldn't be sweeter for the show's Ellen Pompeo, 39, and her husband, Chris Ivery.

"We never try to be apart - we go everywhere together," the actress tells OK! "I think that if you marry someone you're madly in love with, then that's all that matters."

The actress admits she doesn't know how people do long distance relationships, but credits pal and Grey's Anatomy co-star Katherine Heigl with making hers work.

"Josh Kelley [a musician, and Katherine's husband] is on tour all the time and they have to navigate that," Ellen says. "I think it's probably very tough for them."

Her infamously tiny frame has been the subject of past scrutiny, but Ellen Pompeo says she stays fit with a rigorous workout plan and healthy diet.

"I have a trainer, I do strength work, stretching, endurance and boxing," she says. "I don't eat much junk food. I try to eat six small meals a day."

Ellen Pompeo credits her healthy eating to long hours on the job.

"I try to stay away from sugar while I'm shooting," the star says.

"On weekends I eat what I want. If I eat a Dove Ice Cream bar I feel great, but then I want a nap because I crash from the sugar. If I have to work and memorize my lines until one in the morning, I can't be taking a nap!"

Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo and her husband of a little over a year, Chris Ivery, certainly looked like they were having a good time watching the L.A. Lakers play the Miami Heat at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

The Lakers were victorious, 108-105, but the real winner on this Sunday afternoon seemed to be Chris, getting to cozy up to Ellen in their courtside seats ...

Also on hand where Amanda Bynes, Jenna Fischer (source of many funny Office quotes) director Darren Aronofsky, Robin Thicke, Stacy Keibler and Private Practice stars Taye Diggs and Kate Walsh, who came with husband Alex Young.
