Sara Ramirez, Chandra Wilson Dish on Grey's Anatomy

You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to following all the comings, goings, crossovers, new jobs and new deliveries happening both on and off screen at Grey's Anatomy.

But it would help.

Fortunately, Grey's Anatomy cast members Chandra Wilson and Sara Ramirez chatted with TV Guide and offered up a special diagnosis for this week's episode and beyond.

First up, Wilson’s Dr. Miranda Bailey will be headed to Los Angeles for sun and apparently some fun when she crosses over to Private Practice, ABC's sister show, this week.

“I’m being overprotective of a patient I have that of course their care has to happen in L.A. at St. Ambrose – because that’s the only place it can be in the world,” she said.

“So I’m heading over to Private Practice!

“You know, Taye Diggs’ character is single now!” Sara Ramirez reminded her co-star, nodding to a recently teased smooch between Bailey and Diggs' Dr. Sam Bennett.

But Wilson won't bite. “I don’t share stories,” she insisted, chuckling.

Despite Bailey’s interlude in SoCal, the rest of Seattle Grace is about to feel a chill as the result of the merger with Mercy West, which will put some docs' jobs in jeopardy.

“Not everyone at Seattle Grace is safe,” hinted Sara Ramirez, and Wilson took it even further: “Next week is a jaw-dropper. It’s not going to work out for some people.”

Wilson will also be stepping behind the camera as the director of the seventh episode of Grey’s Anatomy's sixth season, airing toward the end of October (the plotline is apparently Patrick Dempsey-centric – “all Derek all the time,” she teases).

Ramirez says Wilson’s directorial style is far from iron-fisted.

Chandra Wilson to Appear on Private Practice

Shonda Rhimes is anti-Grey's Anatomy spoilers, but with a bus full of reporters visiting the set Tuesday, she revealed a little scoop on the upcoming season.

Specifically, Grey's Anatomy star Chandra Wilson will cross over to the world of Private Practice in the season's third episode this fall, Rhimes said during the visit.

Miranda Bailey will travel to L.A. to visit her former colleague Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) and perform a "very interesting" medical procedure, Rhimes says.

Bailey being Bailey, she'll also not be shy about sharing her opinions about the goings-on at Oceanside Wellness, the creator and producer of both shows adds.

ABC also confirms that Party Down star Ken Marino (who was on set Tuesday) and former ER actress Kellie Martin will also guest in the first batch of episodes.

The crossover of Chandra Wilson's character to Private Practice will continue the relatively free movement of characters between Grey's Anatomy and its spinoff, which debuted in 2007.

Walsh has appeared on several episodes of Grey's Anatomy the past couple of seasons, and this past spring Patrick Dempsey's Derek Shepherd guested on Private Practice, while Taye Diggs and Audra McDonald also revealed their ties to Derek's past.

The new season of Private Practice will pick up only a few minutes after last season's finale, which ended with off-her-meds patient Katie (Amanda Foreman) injecting Violet (Amy Brenneman) with some paralyzing drugs and about to steal her baby.

The season premiere will deal with the immediate aftermath, while episode two will jump ahead a few weeks, Amy Brenneman says. We can't wait to see what transpires ...

Chandra Wilson to Direct Grey's Anatomy Episode

She always steals the show. Now she'll be directing it as well!

Chandra Wilson, a perennial Emmy nominee as Dr. Miranda Bailey, will be directing an episode of Grey's Anatomy this season, sources confirm. No word yet on when this will take place, what the episode will be about and if she'll also appear on it, but that's great news!

There are also rumors, E! reports, that another actor was (or is) negotiating to direct an episode of Grey's Anatomy this season, as well as make a couple of other tweaks to his/her contract to allow him/her more creative and personal freedom in the upcoming year.

Who could that be?

Shonda Rhimes Visits Chandra Wilson, "Chicago"

T.R. Knight isn't the only Grey's Anatomy name involved in theater work.

Chandra Wilson, who plays Dr. Miranda Bailey, has been starring in Chicago this summer, delighting audiences in the famous role of Matron “Mama” Morton in the hit musical.

At one of her recent shows, Wilson received a special visitor - none other than Grey's Anatomy creator / producer Shonda Rhimes. Here's Chandra with her boss backstage ...

Chandra Wilson Coy on Grey's Anatomy Cast, Future

As Grey's Anatomy anxiously await the fates of cast members T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl and whether their characters, George O'Malley and Izzie Stevens, will be back season, another original star of the show is nervous about her own status.

Well, probably not really. But Chandra Wilson, who plays Dr. Miranda Bailey on the hit ABC show, is still waiting to re-sign her contract to come back for a sixth season.

"You know, I don't have the slightest idea!" the actress, who is starring in Chicago this summer, told The View when asked if she knew who was leaving. "I know nothing!"

In fact, she said that she still hasn't received word on whether she'll be back on the show: "I'm waiting for my Disney letter saying, 'You have the option to come back.'"

The company has until June 20 to send it, she added.

C-Dubs

We can confidently say that hell would freeze over before the series would let Wilson go, but her coyness indicates that even fellow cast members likely have no clue what's going to happen with Knight and Heigl. Whether Knight and Heigl even know is a mystery!

Reports of George's demise vary - and have lingered for months, culminating in a gripping season finale in which he and Izzie were literally in between life and death.

Grey's Anatomy creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes hasn't divulged any information on next season's cast or story lines. All we can do is hope for the best.

Chandra Wilson Takes the Chicago Stage

Enjoying a nice summer break from her day job, Grey’s Anatomy star Chandra Wilson steps in to the celebrated role of Matron “Mama” Morton in the hit musical Chicago.

The 39-year-old actress will be in the Broadway show for a four-week limited tenure starting Monday, June 8. Here's Chandra in a different role than we normally see:

Chandra, who plays Dr. Miranda Bailey on Grey’s Anatomy, began performing in musicals at the age of five. She has since appeared in other Broadway productions including Avenue Q, The Good Times Are Killing Me, and On the Town. You gotta love Chandra!

Chandra Wilson Dishes on Bailey, Season Finale

As if Izzie's cancer, Mer and Der's wedding and George actually getting a storyline weren't enough for the season finale of Grey's Anatomy, Chandra Wilson says there is still a medical disaster that will call for all hands on deck at Seattle Grace.

At the Prism Awards this weekend, Chandra teased the life-changing finale, painting a picture of what could well to be the most thrilling Grey's Anatomy season-ender yet.

"In [the finale], we do ultimately find out what [happens with] George - he has to make a very big decision. Izzie has a lot of medical [issues] in that episode," she said.

"And then, of course, we have our normal ER catastrophe that goes on. It's got to be something bad going on where all the doctors have to assemble. That much I know."

Boss Bailey

Speaking of George's big decision, there's a rumor he ends up as a trauma surgeon in the army, following in Owen Hunt's footsteps. "Is that right? That's coming up too? Lord, I need to read the script that you're reading!" jokes Chandra Wilson.

While she is tight-lipped on the rest of the season, she says Bailey is prepared to continue with pediatric surgery despite the ramifications it has for her marriage:

"Everything that I'm doing right now is still working with the kids; it's still trying to potentially go into that fellowship. I do know that my husband is not happy about that. But when you get a calling, sometimes you have to do your calling."

Chandra Wilson Forecasts "Life-Changing" Finale

It looks like Shonda Rhimes has been teaching Chandra Wilson the art of the major sell.

During an interview with The New York Post, Wilson said the Grey's Anatomy finale certainly won't let fans down.

"I've been told there are some life-changing things that happen to all of us," said the actress that plays Miranda Bailey.

Comforting Chief Resident

So, what takes place on this much-hyped episode?

"It's supposed to be Bailey's day off, but she decides to come in and take a look at some procedures she hasn't seen in a while, and she gets sucked in with another child who's not doing too well," Wilson said. "But she handles this one considerably differently from some of the children that knocked her off her feet before."

What about the wedding every Grey's Anatomy fan is talking about? Wilson wouldn't give any clues about who is talking down the aisle on May 7.

"We're doing a church [wedding] and we're doing pretty dresses and they've got bridesmaids dresses for Izzie, Christina and Lexie," she said.

Hmmm... bridesmaids dresses for Izzie, Christina and Lexie? Does that mean Izzie won't be the one to get hitched? Discuss!
