Grey's Anatomy Episode Guide: "Holidaze"

Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's have come and gone. Well, at least on Grey's Anatomy. In an episode jam-packed with holiday fun - and blues - we learned the following:

  • Richard's drinking is becoming a bigger problem.
  • Mark has an 18-year-old daughter ... named Sloane!
  • Bailey's father is really upset at her for getting a divorce.
  • Derek and Arizona are probably the most awesome doctors and people on earth ... as is the guy who popped the question to the girl who survived weeks with no heart.
  • Teddy was head over heels in love with Owen for years, and there was a time in which he felt the same way ... but he's in love with Cristina now, end of story. Or is it?

For the full rundown, check out our episode recap of "Holidaze."

Private Practice Episode Guide: "Sins of the Father"

Private Practice was in vintage form last night after the car-trapping drama of last week. Family drama, deep-rooted issues, old characters and tear-jerking moments abound.

Addison's dad, "The Captain," made an appearance, and let's just say the two aren't on the best of terms. Cooper and Charlotte are also going at it about their non-wedding.

Things get worse for Coop when he's arrested after refusing to cooperate in a case involving Evan, the abused child from last season. Once again, he carried the episode.

Pete was right behind him, battling to keep a terminally ill patient alive long enough for him to meet his new daughter. These two guys are becoming the reason for the show.

Addison and her father aren't exactly close. That's putting it nicely.

More on the New Grey's Anatomy Love Triangle

The bad news: Kim Raver's Teddy Altman is definitely a complication for Grey's Anatomy's beloved twosome, Kevin McKidd's Owen Hunt and Sandra Oh's Cristina Yang.

The good news: McKidd and co-star Sandra Oh want to see their characters together as much if not more than many fans do, he said in an interview with E! this week.

"I want the best for him. I want him to be happy. I want him to be in love. I want him to be all these things and more, and so does Sandra [for her character Cristina]."

Of Sandra, Kevin said "I love her to bits. I think we both come from the same place as far as wanting the work to feel rooted and real and true. She's very protective over her character, understandably. As am I. One of the problems and the downsides of working on a long-term character is that you, the actor, become very protective over the character."

Owenstina Pic

"We both know that for a TV show to work, and the characters can't be happy all the time. That's the whole point, so there's this weird thing going on, which is I think Sandra and I both right now are finding it hard because we're so kind of in love with the characters, and so kind of invested in Owen and Christina being together. Suddenly there's this potential for danger."

"I [think we are] quite anxious ourselves for our characters' happiness. I think again, that adds to the chemistry of it all."

And that chemistry will indeed be tested in the coming weeks.Continue Reading...

Kevin McKidd Predicts "Lines in the Sand" Will Be Drawn

Below are some notes on Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice from TV Guide's spoiler Q&A today. Nothing really new or ground-breaking, but still interesting developments ...

Q: How long before Teddy destroys Cristina and Owen's relationship on Grey's Anatomy?

A: Kevin McKidd says that Thursday's episode will have a major development in that love triangle: "Something happens between the three of them that's pretty explosive," he says.

"Up until now you've not really seen anyone draw lines in the sand, but you start to see that this week." Translation: "Desert Storm Barbie" is not welcome in Yang's Dream House.

Q: Any scoop on Private Practice?

A: Addison's mom and dad (JoBeth Williams and Stephen Collins) are coming to visit Private Practice on December 3, and they're bringing a third ... the other woman!

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Owen, Cristina and Teddy

Okay, seriously. How long are these pesky Mercy West doctors sticking around? Can they be called cast members? What's the deal with cardio-goddess Teddy - and Owenstina?

These are the questions of the day pertaining to our favorite show in E! Online's spoiler chat. Let's get down to the spoilers/news tidbits, then you can weigh in with comments!

Q: I hate the new Mercy Westers. Please tell me they leave Grey's Anatomy soon.

A: We can confirm that Nora Zehetner is still on the show as we speak, and we're pretty sure the rest of the gang will be hanging around for a while as well. Sorry.

Q: Please don't tell me Kim Raver is sticking around long on Grey's Anatomy!

A: She's not going anywhere for the time being, and according to Kevin McKidd (Owen), that is a very good thing! "When we heard the pitch of this idea for the storyline this year," Kevin says, "I think Sandra and I were kind of initially like, 'This is bad.'"

Owenstina and Teddy

"I think we felt this is a good thing with these two and there could have been more story lines to tell. But you know, I met Kim and we started to work and what seemed to be coming clear very quickly is that we three actors have great respect for each other.

"At the end of the day, that adds a really interesting dynamic to the triangle as it is played out on the screen because all three of us actors have great respect for each other."

Q: What's going to happen with Owen, Cristina and Teddy on Grey's Anatomy?

A: More from Mr. McKidd on that topic: "It's not going to be some petty, juvenile, immature thing. Things are going to be interesting and intense. It's going to get much hotter and complicated between the three of them because it is such an adult problem that they have."

"People are hopefully going to be very, very torn when it comes down to it, and very involved and kind of sucked in. I think it's a very interesting story we're telling."

Perhaps we should all keep an open mind? Or not. What do you think?

Shonda Rhimes: Great Grey's Anatomy Stuff Ahead!

Get ready for pulse-pounding end to 2009 and new beginnings in 2010.

That's according to Shonda Rhimes herself, and we couldn't be happier.

“It’s starting to get really exciting, especially as we head towards these episodes that end the year and start off the new year,” the Grey's Anatomy creator and executive producer told TV Guide Magazine. “We’ve got some really great stuff coming.”

Now that Owen and Christina are a couple, will the new resident surgeon Teddy Altman - a.k.a. “cardio god” (played by guest star Kim Raver) - put a heart-stopping wrench in their fledgling romance? Rhimes urges fans to stay tuned on that front.

“Yes, but not how you’d expect,” revealed Rhimes. “I think everyone assumes it’s going to go one way. It’s a very different story than we’ve ever told before.”

Meredith-Derek Love

Meanwhile, Meredith and Derek will continue to take the audience on a roller coaster ride of typical emotional highs and lows, yet even more challenges await.

“I think a lot of what’s going on is watching them come into their own as doctors [and] watching what goes on between them in the hospital,” said Rhimes.

With the Chief falling off the wagon once again, leaving his wife’s imagination to run wild - and straight down to the hospital where she accuses Dr. Bailey of having an affair with him - the repercussions will go a lot deeper than just the bottom of the bottle.

“That’s going to get a little complicated,” she said, promising more info in coming episodes. “That’s going to get more complicated than anybody expects.”
