Yeah, I definitley agree that the low point was the middle of season 4. That's when the ratings really started to drop, and they still haven't gotten back to what they were in seasons 2 and 3. I wasn't a fan of most of season 4 for all the reasons that you said. Plus it was kinda akward with the writer's strike and everything. I agree that season 5 was better, even with denny coming back from the dead, but season 6 is even better than that. :)

helen,
1. I'm not sure how Lexie is taking advantage of Meredith. If anything, Meredith has dragged her around, while Lexie awaits for a moment when Mer extends her hand to become something.
The only reason she was living in Mer's house was because of Derek. Mer allowed her to live there because of him and the whole 'stray' thing. Back in S4, she yelled at Lexie to get her own life. That doesn't sound somebody being taken advantage of.
I am not Lexie's No.1 fan but it doesn't seem plausible to me that she has the guts to take advantage of Mer. Even if her annoying begging had a huge influence in Mer, neither Cristina or Derek would've allowed her to do it just because of that.
2. The relationship is already established. Everyone knows these guys are BFFs. I bet that next episode, when they all gather to beat the new guys, you'll find it more satisfying. They can't be together ALL the time.
3. S1-4 had a good handling of characters, I'll give you that but S5 failed with overload of Izzie. Her storyline overshadowed huge things in the other characters (Hunt's PTSD, Derek's dark moment, Callie's sexual preference, etc). This episode in particular had to have a lot of Lexie and Mer. Last week and the SP had a good balance of them all.
4. That's up to you. I personally thought that GA had it's low point in mid S4 (the MerDer break up, Cris in the dark place, Gizzie -sorry, don't like it-, everyone in the air), and S5 they redeemed themselves slightly. By far, I'm liking S6 more than the beginning of S5. That's me.
5. Didn't understand that. :S
(Sorry I used the number thing but it's to directly answer your comments. It looks like a test now.)

to anuflas:
It seems we see things differently.
1. Lexie is getting advantage of Meredith by putting her under psychological pressure. She knew Mer is VERY easy to handle, that's why she stays at her house, she follows Mer's life.
2. I know all the scenes you describe but I think that a lunch-scene is not enough to create a well-established relationship.
3. The first 3 seasons were really amazing: balanced, innovative, with good medical cases. I miss Bailey and Christina a lot.
4. Yes, I think Grey's has chnaged but for the worse.
5. Even Mark was more of a person than a drawing.
Anyway, again I used to be a devotred fan but not any more.
With respect to everyone who has a different opinion
ciao

helen,
In response to your reasons:
1. I hated Lexie's begging but she didn't take advantage of Mer, at all. If you noticed Mer's pacing while Derek and Cristina watched her, she clearly was making her decision, her own. Mer did it for Lexie in the long run but she didn't take advantage.
2. How was Mark a jerk and superficial? He gave his patient what he wanted. I don't follow here.
3. The new faces haven't arrived yet. Exactly who are the new faces?
4. Like didi just said, everyone gets their turn. Bailey is going to be in PP's next episode. It looks like a good one.
5. It is an ensemble DRAMA, something has to happen to each of them to keep it interested and fresh.
6. They had lunch together and were fighting for surgeries together. Again, not following.

Am I right in thinking Mer didn't do the surgery with Der?
I think this episode was very focused on Mer for the good reason that Ellen was probably about 8 months pregnant when she was filming this. The first episode had a lot of Callie, episode 3 had a lot of Arizona. I think Der was kinda in the background cos he is going to have a surgery that will be the focus of an episode. So everyone will get a turn.
But I am so looking forward to Mer showing the newbies she'e a great doc and surgeon

When I wrote about lex following Mer into making decisons without including Mark, i should have added that Mer is a different person who does discuss things with her husband

to owcris,
you are right about lexie, but when is anyone ever gone to discipline Izzie for the heart thing, she kill two men (I guessing the other guy is dead by now, maybe he's not)
I guess they'll discipline them the same day
sorry for my english

I agree with you but I think she came back to save her job not because she was ready (like derek said last week)If she had been ready she would have agreed with owen and let the patient go but being emotional Izzie she blindly thought that this guy had a chance but not everyone can survive cancer like she did. I understand how she can come as annoying sometimes but she's optimistic and looking at the bright side of things and that is what I love about her but this epi she took it a little too far. I think her being "laid off" will be good for her because maybe she can grow up a little more and go to some cancer support groups and if she happens to come back (which she will I can feel it!) she can be a bit more realistic about her stance as a doctor living with cancer
I just really love Izzie but I think the 5 episode hiatus is just what GA needs (especially after what happened last season)

sofi,
You're right. My bad. :) But Alex did whine. I think he wants the easy lifestyle that he lived in Mer's house (can't blame him) but it's time to grow up, get a place for both of them and move forward.
I meant Izzie's stand on her cancer patient. It's sad because she thinks that because she managed to be in the 5% chance, everyone can make it. She really isn't ready to come back.
I have a hard time liking Izzie so many times I can come off as rude to her but this time I felt bad for her.
