Here's a little excerpt from E!'s spoiler Q&A today regarding Chandra Wilson. It's nothing we don't already know after her interview yesterday, but here goes anyway:
Q: So excited to see Bailey on Private Practice this week, but does she cross over from Grey's Anatomy for personal or professional reasons?
A: According to Grey's Anatomy star Chandra Wilson herself, "[Bailey]'s being overprotective of a patient, so it starts on Grey's Anatomy, and of course, the surgery can only be done in L.A. at St. Ambrose, so she ends up there with a patient."
Paul Adelstein (Cooper on Private Practice) adds, "[Bailey] takes us to task. She's a truth teller, and her writing is truth telling, so she comes in and busts us all down to size pretty good."
Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) visits Private Practice this week. We're psyched!

Oh, I'll love Bailey putting Cooper in his place. Love Bailey. For some reason, I find this episode of PP more exciting than GA (this week, at least).
Go Bailey.

I swear I think they're trying to phase out Greys by sending actors away or putting them on PrP. Don't get me wrong, I love both shows, but Bailey is a stong character on Greys, as was George. Mer and Izz are both going to be absent several episodes, plus the episode count is getting smaller every season. Remember the 2nd season? There was like 20 some episodes, now there is about 12. I hate thinking about it because it's getting great again, but episodes without George, Bailey, Mer, and Izzie...c'mon. Plus people are losing their jobs in the hospital? A little too real huh?

tara,
Actually, S4 only had 16 episodes (counting the two hour season finale as one episode) due to the writer's strike. S5 resumed the standard 22/24 episodes that most dramas have. GA is rare due to the fact that they usually have two hour premieres and finales. For a normal drama, that's four extra episodes that GA count as two.
I don't think that GA is phasing out characters to PP (I swear that if Derek makes an appearance in LA, I'll be pissed) but remember that SR loves the crossovers, so I guess that we'll see them at least once a season.
Oh, and EP is already back on set, Bailey DOES make an appearance in this week's episode (it's the beginning of the crossover), so the only one missing is KH. I don't care for Izzie but she'll be back soon. I hope.

I'm going to trust the writers on what they're doing. Last season was not my favorite, but these last two episodes have been reminiscent of the old days. I'm excited for what they've got going on this season.
