When the Mercy West doctors descended on Seattle Grace in last week's "Invasion," there was no love lost between our old standbys and their job-hungry competitors.
What we saw then paled in comparison to this evening, though.
In a chaotic ER scene, disaster strikes and there is plenty of blame to go around, compounding the already-rising tension in a turbulent environment. At times, it got ugly.
The truth came out eventually, and someone dearly paid the price.
Did you see that turn of events coming, or were you surprised?
What did you think of tonight's Grey's Anatomy in general?
Our recap of "I Saw What I Saw" will be posted soon. In the meantime, tell us how you felt about the episode by commenting and voting in the Insider survey below.
As always, the Grey's Anatomy Insider staff will post quotes, music, news, photos, spoilers and all things Grey's Anatomy as soon as possible! Thanks for visiting us!
"I Saw What I Saw" was ...

I loved it, I LOVED it. It had me on the edge of my seat. Definitely one of the best episodes in a while.
I knew something was wrong when April and Reed were talking about how all the others had better cases. I still hate the orangies (now blueies?) but I really didn't think that Reed was turning April in. They are starting to fall apart. Survival of the fittest claimed one of their own. Three to go.
Glad that Alex spoke to Izzie. Izzie's being selfish in not even telling Alex where she is but at least he knows she's ok. Cristina ruled, especially in her final speech to everyone. It's like the LVAD wire incident when she said that they should all stick together. I can't say I was surprised by Lexie's sudden breakdown to the burn victim but I wish that it hadn't been Arizona to call her on it.
Chief's a jerk but glad that Derek called on him (in a very McDreamy way). Richard's responsible and I hope he takes Derek's words to heart. Also, PD looked GOOD in that final scene with Meredith. Loved that ending, with the 'what happened today?' question.
The preview for next week looks great. I have a feeling it'll be one of the best of the season. Go Derek.

Yay I get to post first.
But in all seriousness "seriously". I've been watching this message board forever and I just wanted to say that I think Shonda (plus the whole writing crew because we have to remember there are numerous writers and producers plus executives and corporate sponsors) has taken these characters back to mountaintop and plummeted them back into despair, and I have watched every season every episode with anticipation.
I'm very proud of the way she continues to carry this show (and private practice although I don't watch that nearly as much) with such strength and determination. It is amazing that we have lost several major characters and still continue to see great acting, great stories, as well as not so good plot movements. But that is the reality of a good thing, you have to have blase' episodes so you can continue to appreciate the great episodes.
I also like to keep in mind that Shonda must work on the desires and conflicts that arise with her actors. I have much respect for Katherin Heigl as a new mom, and a career woman, but I also think she says things impulsively and expects a certain standard of treatment. But who knows what truly happens behind the scenes. T.R. Knight is an adult and made certain decisions, so did Isaiah Washington...but the show is about the characters, not the actors petty drama.
So all this Shonda hatin' really boggles my mind as multiples people are responsible for the dynamic of the show. WE make this show go on, not them.
Anyway my 50 cents, I can't wait to see what's in store for Izzie and Alex, and I feel that with the bringing on of a new Cardio Guru for Christina, who happens to be Owen's old flame?? Well come on, us old Greybies can see the opening for her and Jackson now.
And I have to say that I love love Meredith. Her growing has made the namesake worthy hahaha....

I thought this was a really cool episode, it was suspenseful, and the camera shots where it picked up right after someone's line with a different angle was awesome. I agree completely with everything MK said. I hope to see more of the alex/izzie storyline, along with mexie, merder, etc. I'm also really excited to see the mystery person of owen (and mark, rumor has it)'s past. I'm also guessing that it'll be the new cardio surgeon for cristina, but maybe an ex girlfriend or something of owen's. overall, exciting episode, they worked really well around KH and EP's absences.

Excellent episode!! I loved it!
But I still don't like the 'Mercy Westers' and how much we see them.
I miss full-time Meredith. But I'm happy we got to see her, even for 20 seconds.
I'm so excited for next week and Derek centered episode!!

This episode made me want to puke. The storyline, with the boy there, etc. was just too much for me, as a mother.

dude, this episode was awesome.
not feeling the big head guy, but the other two residents reed and that other guy i could get use to, i like them! brave for reed to tell the truth against her loyalties!!! i loved lexie this episode, she is really turning out to be the 'grey' in greys anatomy, even though i know others wont agree.
mer's whole 'grown up' season has really played out very well. i love her character this and last season more than i ever have, go mer!
but i want izzie back man! its really not the same without her! cant wait for next ep, even though im not a huge der fan, i'll have to be open minded for it!
