Grey's Anatomy Promo: "Tainted Obligation"

Here is the first promo for next week's episode of Grey's Anatomy, "Tainted Obligation."

The premise is simple, but the decision could not be more loaded for Meredith Grey:

Thatcher Grey needs a transplant or he will die, and she, not Lexie, must provide it.

Does she owe him anything? Should she do it anyway, for Lexie's sake if nothing else?

Check out the promo and see what you think ...

I don't think she should do it!! He left her when she was five years old. What kind of father leave an inoccent child behind him no matter what Ellis did to him!! He never faught for her, never made an affort to find her instead he re-married and had 2 daughters and replaced her with a new happy and shiny family like he never had her.
Then he accused her of his wife death and slapped her in front of her boyfriend, bosses and co-workers!! He never apoligized or done anything for her why should she do something for him? He is a stranger to her or a sperm donar! She don't own him anything like Derek said in the promo. But I guess we have to see what Shonda decide.

I agree. She definately shouldn't do it. Certainly not for Lexie's sake. She's so annoying. They should have killed her off instead of George. Who cares if Thatcher dies? He's been terrible to Meredith. He abandoned her as a child, scared her for life and then accuses he of killing his wife and slaps her. I bet Meredith does it though, for Lexie (even though she shouldn't!) because otherwise she'd look cold and heartless and everyone would be mad at her.

  3. Melissa Says:

I think she'll end up going through with it. Not that I think she should. I wouldn't.

  4. pau Says:

Mer will do it. She`ll do it `cause she is not the same as him, she is stronger and a doctor, and a doctor save lifes, so, she will do it.
If she doesn`t do that, she will regreat the rest of her life

    (sorry my english)

i think they will write it so mer does do the surgery for her dad but i only think it will pan out like that so that the next episode she can be home from work and we prob wont see her or we will only see her in bed to helpcover the fact ellen was prob 9months preg when these episodes will have been filmed!!
i think we will see her make a tough decision but ultimately she will help thatcher! plus i think this will lead to a MASSIVE story line later this season or maybe next where he gets drunk and we will see mer deal with fact that thatcher throws the transplant back at her!! im sure he is beyond help and i really dont like him!!! i think if ellen was pregnant in real life we might have seen a diff outcome but as she is i think we are more likely to see it xx

  6. Ashley Says:

She will do it because she is a doctor and that's what doctor's do. She would do it no matter who it was and that is how she will look at it. Regardless of how he treated her as a child I doubt she would want the guilt of his death. She will do it as a doctor and for herself, not for him.

  7. Jenn Says:

I think she should do it. This is human life...this isn't about resentments and letting people die because you are mad at them or because they were bad to you. I think she will do it and I think she should do it..Especially when she is trying to be whole and healed. Let go of bitterness and resentment and this could even start a healing relationship with her and her father. Remember he is an alcoholic and last we saw him he was in recovery and trying to make amends to BOTH Lexie and Meredith!

  8. AiLing Says:

Hmmm....my father left when I was 4, and I never heard from him again. And I'm a medical student. Am I obliged to save his life should the need arise in the future? As a doctor, I am obliged to, as he is my patient. But I wouldn't see him as my father.

  9. emme Says:

how can you say that what if Thatcher dies???! what if a father dies? somebody's father...it's a human being, noone would let a human being just die, because i don't wanna help, and a doctor, would never do it
    Mer is not that cruel

  10. Sophie Says:

I agree with those who said that he's still a patient and whether he was cruel in the past, it's irrelevant because being a doctor means saving lives despite what the person did. So she may hate him, but as someone said, this is a human life...right or wrong, she still has an obligation to save them, maybe not an obligation to Thatcher but an obligation to saving human lives.
