Last night's Grey's Anatomy saw the world of Seattle Grace as we know it turned on its head. The Mercy Westers descended, wreaked havoc and one of our own got fired.
How long will Izzie Stevens be gone? Did she really leave Alex? These questions remain up in the air for now in the wake of her abrupt departure at the end of the episode.
Lexie, Alex and Cristina each did whatever they could to upstage their new Mercy West counterparts, with largely failed results. Our people are looking dazed and confused.
Elsewhere, Callie's dad returned to convert her, but he was the one who saw the light. Bailey's patient was almost killed by Izzie, driving her to L.A. and Private Practice.
For the full rundown of events last night, here's our recap of "Invasion."
Richard lets Izzie go. She does not take the news well.

the new "mercy westers" are all so mean! I hope that our favorite residents can kick their butts sometime in the near future

These 'merger/bad economy' episodes suck! My wife and I have watched the series from the start and this season stinks. Hope the writers can find some way to dig this show out before they start losing viewers.

Personally I am angry at the fact that they make Alex think Izzy left him! He is the reason she is alive and he held her hand through cancer and she just leaves him? It doesn't seem like something her character would do and it really upsets me! I love them together but i don't know how they can make this work again!!!! I don't like any of the Mercy Westers either... This episode was pretty bad in my opinion (for Greys Anatomy anyway)...

First time that our beloved cast members looked so defeated and whimpped out. Was hard to watch. It's okay to have 'a' character to "hate", but a whole group of them is too much. And what happened to the long term support of the head doctors? Even McDreamy seemed to be more supportive of the new "invaders". There's got to be a magic rabbit in the hat or this viewer might have to slide on over to CSI.

Does anybody notice that there wasn't a single scene with Mark Sloan? Why? I seriously don't understand!
By the way, I LOVE the episode! The scene with Cristina.. God! So heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. And I have to admite: I DON'T LIKE MERCY WEST PEOPLE!

This was the worst episode since the beginning. The Grace drs. looked like a bunch of spoiled children. The Mercy drs. acted like invading aliens. If the writers don't get back to the basics of good medicine mixed with relationships, I won't watch it again.

Oh, Cconklin notice as much as I.
It better be good that they give us an explanation in the next episode for that.

This episode made me barfed in my mouth. Why can't they just give Christina her cardio surgery and make her awesome again? And firing Izzie?? I've never liked her, but she's one of the original casts! The newcomers are downright annoying. And what happened to the heat between Callie and Arizona? It seemed like they have evaporated. Bottom line, this episode sucks big time. I can't believe I spent the whole week getting excited for this kind of crap.

I liked the newcomers and how they played into the storylines. It is a little immature, but I still liked the episode. I also think that Izzie is overwhelmed by everything she's been thru recently, and with a little tension between her & Alex, and Izzie is under the impression (given what the chief said) that Alex said something and is partially the reason why she was fired - I think I would need a break from everyone around me if I felt I had nothing left.
