Last night saw Derek defy the surgical odds and the Chief of Surgery and not only come out victorious, but with a Zen-like mentality and peace that was inspiring to us all.
When the hospital's lab tech, Isaac, tells Derek he has the mother of all spinal tumors and wants him to operate, McDreamy doesn't know if he can. Fortunately, Isaac does.
Isaac has full confidence, even after Derek opens him up for 10 hours the first time and doesn't do a darn thing. You'll get it the next day, Isaac says, and Derek pulls it off.
Directed by Chandra Wilson, the episode revolved around only this story, with other characters and plots on the periphery, but still brilliantly done. Can someone say Emmy?

I though last night was a good episode. It was completely centered on the medical aspect of the show, with no personal drama which was kind of refreshing! I loved the humor and it was kind of nice not having SO MANY doctors, interns, etc. in the mix. You gotta LOVE Derek.

I love when Derek is talking to Merideth about his surgery and their "song" comes on. I really love them together.
I loved it when Lexie told Derek to "drink" when he refused and when she told Jackson that she was hardcore for wanting to wear a diaper during the surgery.
I cried when Alex was....when I saw him waiting for Izzie to show...and she never did. I am begining to dislike her even more:) I am however, starting to dig that reed chick.
Great episode....I am glad that they are showing more of the doctors and not who is sleeping with who in the on-call room, this season.
Can I just say.....I want a McDreamy, too!!

Am I the only one that is tired of the monologue's and the same ol' writing and "speeches" everyone gives every time they open their mouth? The writing in the first three seasons because they used that repetitive writing and "speeches" once in a while with the "she's my person" or Mer's "pick me choose me" but now it seems like everytime someone opens their mouth they're giving one of those speeches and it's just very tiring, I do a lot of eye rolling now when I watch Grey's.

Liked the episode, Lexie, Mark, Derek, Christina, Callie, Owen, Arizona, Bailey and Meredith! All our original characters...yay!!!! Love Alex and any scene with him except tonite.....I DON"T LIKE REED AND SHE DOES NOT I REPEAT DOES NOT NEED TO HOOK UP WITH ALEX!!!!!!!!Some relationships hit bumps and you suffer but it doesn't always end up with the spouses cheating on each other, that is adultry and I understand it creates drama but some things just don't need to happen all the time! I know he is upset but let Christina or Meredith be his person to cry to bc we know that they won't be doing the nasty. IZZIE GET YOUR BUTT BACK AND FIGHT FOR WHAT IS YOURS!!!

I like Jackson leave him but get rid of the rest!! Did they already kick out Charles?? PraI don't like what he did to Izzie but I could handle having him around if I had too. Wish they would have kept April and sent Reed packing....

I really liked this episode, it was great.
Melissa, I agree with you - the monologues are annoying. But you gotta admit, Lexie's monologue on Jackson about the diaper was AWESOME! =D

OMG!!!!! GREAT episode! personally, i really liked Isaac's speech to Derek before he open him up the first time... AWESOME!!!!! Sooooooooooo true!!!! Inspirational! (sorry if i didn't spell that rigth) The monologues are somekind of annoying but it makes the signature of grey's, that's why we started to like it in the first place. Best episode!!!! I miss Izzie, and dont want to see her marriege with Alex to end... Not every couple must be a disaster! Love the way thigs are going on with mer-der, they are PERFECT! and the scene wher he writes on the wall is great! Of course, the episode is like his director, Miranda, THE BEST!
