Tonight's Grey's Anatomy, "Give Peace a Chance," is all about Derek. Which we imagine will prove quite popular. But our man is certainly under the gun from the beginning.
When he learns that a Seattle Grace employee has a near-fatal tumor, Derek wants to operate anyway, to do whatever he can. Richard, of course, is standing in the way.
In essence, McDreamy is fighting two battles tonight, the first to save lab tech Isaac's life, despite the very long odds, and the other against the Chief's dwindling authority.

Will McDreamy save the day? Who's with him and who's against him? Is the Chief just a figurehead at this point? How will this developing power struggle play out?

Can SGMWH have a chief who's authority is ignored by his attendings? Where's the chief of MW, surely that character ought to be taking advantage of the chief of SGH's folly with this merger.
Will Der be the chief by the end of this season? Surely Der will want to be a chief of surgery, maybe that's how S7 will finish with Der going off to be a chief of sugery somewhere and Mer finishing her residency with him?

I think Derek will be Chief by the end of the season. Or as a replacement while Richard gets his act together. I feel someone is going to hit the bottle soon...
So excited for Shepherd's Anatomy. :P

I think so too. I hope the fights between the Chief and Derek don't affect much the MerDer relationship!!
Maybe the board will talk to Derek again about being chief!! Richard isn't doing his job of Chief of Surgery right, with locking himself in his office all day long.

I read Shonda's comments about MerDer's rocky road cos of Der's conflict with the chief. Uck. Then I read Shonda's remark about Der wanting a family and Mer probably not. Ugh.

I hope the Derek kicks ASS

Halfway through watching this episode right now. I really dislike the way its running so far, too different from a "regular" episode. The music is different, the characters are acting different. Its all about Derek, which, they might think get better ratings, but its not Shepherds Anatomy here.. ::sigh::

The episode was intense kept you wondering what was going to happen next poor Derek threw up due to being dehydrated the chief shouldn't of said Derek was fired even though he disobeyed him the surgery was a success and he should be thankful for that i felt bad for Alex having to wait for Izzie and her not showing up loved the episode :)

Great Episode!! Chandra Wilson did a GREAT job directing! Does anyone know the speach that Issac gave Derek after the first surgery? It was so inspiring.

Chandra Wilson's directorial debut was, to put it plainly, awesome. I liked this episode a lot. Just the right mix of humor, drama, romance, etc.
The Crowen scene at the end was super hot.
Both the MD scenes were really cute, especially him falling asleep on her chest--sweet!
I love Lexie. Just putting that out there. I would totally wear a diaper for Derek Shepherd.
The Alex thing was so sad! Although it troubles me that a show without Izzie, who used to be one of my favorite characters, doesn't bother me. I actually thought the Alex/Reed stuff was cool.
Dr. Avery's eyes are heaven. Even if he is a douche.
That is all.
